ORAL HISTORY INITIATIVE: On Anne Sexton & Her Kind (December 01, 2021)

A celebration of the literary rock ensemble Anne Sexton & Her Kind (1968-1971), featuring a conversation between Sexton's daughter Linda Gray Sexton and the band's manager Robert Clawson. Moderated by scholar Dawn Skorczewski (author of "An Accident of Hope: The Therapy Tapes of Anne Sexton").
The opening scene presents Cambridge-based physicist and acoustician David Griesinger, one of the original recordists of the band, playing a 1970 reel-to-reel recording of "Music Swims Back to Me." Additional archival recordings from the Poetry Room's collection are played throughout the oral history, with a slideshow finale including photographs from the Anne Sexton papers at the University of Texas, Austin.
