Well, most people forgive you for your mistake. More people are mad that you cast such a bad guy to play Peter Parker. But of course we all make mistakes so I will be willing to look at your newest film or trailer. But you shouldn’t make these type of films out of spite or heat for something you should make it for the love of it. It would’ve made this film a whole lot better in my opinion. That was my reason for not liking this film. It wasn’t made out of love. It was made out of hate against the MCU. But I love the costume designs, and some of the dialogue but one thing I will tell you you need to work on is some of your action scenes and middle ground for a movie. This film could’ve been at least an hour long. It had too much in it.

Honest review: while some scenes are too long and other could be cut entirely there is some good moments. I think trying to pad this out into a full movie did a disservice to the film, also some of the dialouge was a little too over dramatic. It should have primarily taken place in his meeting with timothy. Streamline the story. Start at the cemetery where mj gives him the letter, he goes home to find harry, cut down harrys walk of the city and get to spidey and his flashback on the bridge quicker, then seeing timothy remains mainly untouched, then you end things with him at the cemetary again then cut the the final swing. Much cleaner story. For a first film that kinda blew up into something massive this was not a bad first go. You have plenty to learn and grow still but you should be proud of this.

@@itsalphacast5692 Not an excuse. I've seen fan films with lower budgets have far better editing, far better acting, and a far better understanding of the characters they're using than this one. (When has Peter Parker ever knowingly used anyone as a human shield in the entirety of Spider-Man canon?) This thing is on par with “The Room” or “Manos: The Hands of Fate”: All it has going for it is that it was a passion project, and that’s about the nicest thing I can say about it.
I found that they didn't think twice about referencing Peter Parker's lost sister Teresa while also keeping it strictly accurate to Aunt May's full name. Love it
Really?
Ain’t gonna lie, this was pretty good. Minus some dialogue that could’ve been cut short and excessive flashbacks, and some iffy cgi, it was quite decent. It’s unfortunate it has a bad rep but the actors gave it their all, they captured the spirit of their respective characters. I just hope Gav and Warden learned from their mistakes even though it’ll always follow them.
i can forgive the CGI because it’s a fan made film but the movie is bogged down by long sad convo after long sad convo and despite all the talking u don’t exactly feel like chemistry between the leads during these moments. it’s just endless sad music and endless sad scenes. a few flashbacks could’ve been completely cut out or retooled. i feel like spider-man could’ve just been convinced by a kid he was a hero rather than him having to talk to his mom and her giving him the same talk the kid could’ve. it would’ve been dumbed down of course but the kid could’ve just showed him the papers of all the peoples he’s saved after spider-man is feeling down on himself. and i think spider-man should’ve shown him his face rather than the kid asking to see it.
Despite that it was good, very to be honest.

Is it your canon event to keep blaming past mistakes?🤔
This is very underrated. I know about the drama behind the movie but we can't judge the movie for that, I think it is great , one of the best if not the best fan films
Spider-Man Lotus is not a film about Spider-Man. It is a film about Peter Parker.
This film didn't really entertain me, but I can see to an extent why some people like it. There are things that I really like about this film. For example, I adore the redesign of the Green Goblin. The CGI is unbelievably impressive for a fan film. In addition to this, it stays quite loyal to the source material.
That being said, I can't say I recommend it. I feel as though the film would be far better if it was only perhaps a 20-30 minute short film. The film spends far too much time dragging out scenes, with the vast majority of the film focussing on characters shouting at each other, an excess of flashbacks, and the scene with Tim. The central characters spend far too much time arguing about who has lost the most, to the point where I lost all interest in the characters. The flashbacks, although containing some of the best scenes in the movie (specifically the one with the Green Goblin) tend to spoonfeed information to the viewer without allowing them to properly digest it. I do not have an issue with learning information through flashbacks. What I do have an issue with is having almost every key plot point explicitly spelt out to me.
And then there's the scene with Tim. First of all, big props to Maxwell Fox-Andrews for his role as Tim in the film. I was surprised that an amatuer kid managed to do so well. With that in mind, there is no way that scene should have dragged out for so long. Throughout the scene (spoilers) three key things happen. Spider-Man learns that Tim looks up to him, only for him to tell him that his admiration is misplaced (something that I don't think Peter would ever do to a terminally ill kid). Spider-Man apologises when Tim's mother makes him realise just how much Spider-Man means to Tim and many other people. Spider-Man removes his mask to restore Tim's faith in him. Surely this scene wouldn't be that long, right? Wrong. I may be wrong (all I did was hover over the timeline of the video to get a rough idea of how long the scene was) but the scene is 35 MINUTES LONG. That's over a quarter of the film dedicated to that one scene - a scene that should be no longer than 15 minutes.
Perhaps if this was a different film, focussing more on dealing with grief and the stages that someone goes through when grieving, then I might be able to be a bit more forgiving. But it's hard to do so when one of the first scenes in the film features a 6 minute fight with the Shocker. And I think that's the problem with this film. Asides from every other point I've made, it lacks direction. I have the feeling the creators could not decide what they wanted the film to be about. If there had been an overarching plot which involved Spider-Man's duties as a superhero more then I would have called this a superhero film. If this film had left most of the Spider-Man action off-screen then I would consider it to be an emotional drama. But it fails to be either one. As I said earlier, this film is not about Spider-Man. To be honest, it barely manages to be a film about Peter Parker. If it could choose whether or not it wanted to be a superhero film or a drama then I feel as though it would have succeeded far more than it has.
Then again, it seems that a lot of people enjoyed this, so maybe this is just my opinion. However, I cannot help but wonder if the support it has gained is solely from the loyalty to the source material, the nostalgia factor, or the FRICKING UNBELIEVABLY COOL GREEN GOBLIN REDESIGN (which I'm convinced is where most of the budget went). All I can say is that I'm glad some people enjoyed it, but I personally want my two hours back. 3/10.
Dude, if you don't like it, simply don't watch it. It's great and worth seeing no matter what.

I felt like this movie had a lot of areas where it could be improved, wider shots, less cuts in the action scenes, better mixing, etc. but it is very refreshing to see a Peter story rather than just a bunch of action with very little of anything else.
For someone as young as he is. And did most of the small stuff. It wasn’t bad in my opinion. I didn’t have the expectations of a 30 year old with experience and a million or more budget. For the experience Gavin has. I give him credit. I agree some parts were a little longer than I expected and the cgi using what looks to me real engine still wasn’t bad. He didnt have the means to actually race a car around New York or rain scenes in a studio.
@@bobbybigfoot1163exactly. For a amateur fan film? It’s fantastic in most of those aspects. Probably the best fan film I have ever seen. But as a 2 hour feature? Not quite as good, and it definitely shows the inexperience and amateur filmmaking. But that’s also the problem is too many people were expecting a level like Hollywood filmmaking, when this isn’t it. I really did like it a lot more than I thought I would though.
That first scene with the horrible cgi car needed to be cut down like a mf, some of the wider shots of it driving was really bad but the closer shots from the back didn’t look bad at all, the wider full street view shots needed to be fewer. it took away from Spider-Man’s initial swing sequence because I was still sitting there like wow that was junk slop filth.

I think the film was amazing. It really shows that a hero, such as Spider-Man, is far from having a perfect life, and there's sacrifices and tragedy at almost every turn, in the words of Spider-Man 2099, "being Spider-Man is a sacrifice." It also sends a great message that you're stronger when you're together, and nobody, no matter what battle they might be fighting, has to fight alone. It was honestly heartwarming how Tim was a huge reason why Peter didn't give up. In the words of Stan Lee, "I guess one person *can* make a difference. Nuff said."

This was so good. I love when characters show Peter just how much him being Spider-Man has meant to other people.
Im not gonna cover the controversy, im just gonna say that this was a fantastic love-letter to spider-man, and a character study of not just peter, but of mj, harry, flash, and of course the main part of this two hour masterpiece, Gwen Stacy.
I cried multiple times, and i couldnt believe how much you included. Harrys drug addiction, peter always making time for the little people in new york, hell even peters backstory.
I loved how there were barely ANY fights, shows how you can handle a superhero film without all the alien invasions and other world-ending threats. Good work.
It was so bad.. boring af what was the climax of this movie answer me that? 😂😂
@@DannyCosmos someones mad that someone else could enjoy a movie 🥺
@DannyCosmos not everything has to have combat, sometimes its fun to enjoy a character drama. Superheroes, in my opinion, are at their best when they are portrayed as normal people with superhuman abilities. And this fanfilm shows that in spades.
Peter is struggling to propose to Gwen, struggling to come to terms with her death, hell he has problems coming to terms with being put on a pedestal because of the green goblin shit.
Maybe the film could have done with a bit more fighting, but overall, they didn't have that in mind. And I commend them for that 100%. The movie wasn't for you, and that sucks, but for me this was a really good fan film.
Also, just to answer your question, the climax of the movie was Peter deciding to live his life after Gwen's death, realizing that no matter how much Peter Parker's life gets thrown around, Spider-Man must rise to the occasion and become an inspiration to the citizens of New York.
What's the amazing part about this fan film is the cast's performances really did an amazing job potraying their characters.

I felt absolutely no heart in this, there are so many out of character choices and flashbacks that are ripped from the films of comics but just done worst. Also the director shit on Jon Watts
So, behind-the-scenes controversy aside, here's my honest take on this movie:
For a fan film, it's pretty competent. The costume is gorgeous, the VFX is mostly great (again, for a fan film) and the actor playing Peter Parker does a decent enough job.
However, the problem is in how the movie is written. I'm not exaggerating at all when I say that, besides the opening action sequence, the movie is mostly just people talking and Peter being miserable for two hours. This wouldn't matter all that much, however, if the dialogue weren't so contrived. And don't even get me started on how half the movie is just Peter trauma-dumping on a kid with cancer. This movie doesn't really grasp the concept of the three-act structure, which even the least competent movies and even fan films seem to at least acknowledge.
All in all, this movie doesn't feel like a labor of love, but a labor of spite. The best fan films feel like fun tributes to the characters they portray, but this one just feels like the people behind it made it out of disdain for recent adaptations of Spider-Man. I don't think the people who came up with this movie did so because they had a story to tell, but because they had an axe to grind. And as for the movie's "story", all it is is just a hodgepodge of three notable Spider-Man comics: "The Night Gwen Stacy Died", "Spider-Man: Blue" and "The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man". If you just read those three comics you'll essentially get the exact same story, but better.
If Gavin or anyone else involved with the making of this movie is reading this comment, I hope you don't see me as being judgmental, but as me simply giving a good-faith critique of this film you've made. I hope you see it as an opportunity to do better and maybe make more art inspired by genuine creative passion rather than pettiness. And for God's sake, please try not to hire any convicted sex offenders to work on your next fan film. Because seriously...what the hell, guys?
All of this!!!!

Things I Really liked:
Emotional Scenes - The emotional scenes with peter really hit hard, Wayne really shined in these moments as an actor and the music was extremely complementing to these scenes, it felt pure, sincere, true to the character, and overall, just really good whenever these scenes were on screen.
The Music/Sound - This was phenomenal, I love how it’s very Danny Elfman inspired, especially the background music. I think the more emotional sounding music really complemented and improved the scenes and the same can be said for the more orchestral sounding stuff. i think the sound design was mostly extremely good. The ambient sounds worked extremely well to create tone and atmosphere and all the sound effects sounded very good and high budget. I can say it wasn’t perfect in every area for me though, some stuff (like shockers echoed sounding voice) just seemed a bit off to me but it was never enough to fully distract me.
CGI - The CGI and effects in this movie are insanely good and I give a massive praise to the team behind it, it looked absolutely stunning in every scene and I was shocked to see this level of quality effects in a low budget fan movie.
Costume Design - I think all the costume design was pretty much perfect, I’m still unsure whether I like goblins design, something is throwing me off a little, but DAMN, they nailed the look of the spiderman suit. I genuinely think it is a perfect live action suit, much better than tom hollands suits in my opinion, it is probably my third favourite live action suit behind Sam Raimi and tasm 2.
Peters acting - I think the actor for peter did a really great job at conveying all the emotion and energy of peter parker and Spiderman and he was definitely the best actor in the movie. I know some people will hate because of the controversy but all of that aside i do truly think he did an amazing job.
Parts I Thought Could Be Better:
Camera work - I believe while some of the cinematography and lighting is actually quite good and some shots in particular were amazing, but some of the focus pulls took me out a little (mainly in the beginning scenes), and some of the shots looked fairly flat due to the image not having enough depth (shooting on the shadow side more would help this). all of that being said, the cinematography got gradually better throughout the movie and my complaints mostly all vanished by the second half as it really did get a lot better and very good.
The Editing - Some of the scenes in this movie could have been completely taken out or shorter than they were, it felt like a lot of the scenes were just chucked in to act as filler to reach the 2-hour mark. this made the film quite inconsistent with my enjoyability, but overall, I’ve seen worse editing, so it’s not too bad.
Supporting actors - No hate to the actors/actresses playing the parts, but the performances (in my opinion) felt either really good, or very wooden, it was almost like the actor/actresses put more effort into some scenes than others. It didn’t take me out of the film that much though, and I still think it’s quite good for a fan film especially.
Overall:
My feelings are overall quite mixed on this movie, I loved some parts of it, but other areas lacked quite a bit. I mostly enjoyed it and think it’s a good fan movie for the most part
that one scene in the car where the camera seems to be handheld to make harry look unstable is great in my opinion

Hats off. Pulled it off real well.
Fan films have been getting better and better in the past decade. The people making these videos are showing their talent and love of the franchises they chose to work with. The masterpieces they are creating on a shoe string budget is putting Hollywood and their bloated quarter million dollar budgets to shame. But you my friend have set the bar at the highest level ever seen. This film deserved a cinematic release. Story, effects, the acting, your camera work, editing. All masterfully presented. My hat's off to you sir. Theres a really bright and prosperous career ahead of you. 👍👍
One of the most enduring things I ever heard about writing came from Matt Stone and Trey Parker. They said the way you make a story that is captivating is by knowing what works and then deviating. In other words, you need to know structure to be able to take creative twists and turns. Otherwise, it'll be a mess.
This is why student projects shouldn't be given so much publicity! They're dreadful, people are still learning. I hope the writers and director learn from this mess.

Obviously, it's not going to be the best acting of all time for a Spider-Man fan film. But still, they told the story of Peter struggling with this very well and how he feels that he can't be Spider-Man that much anymore, but he now does and it, it compiled the story so well.
"Very well" is a LEAP. When your Peter Parker is just a spiteful asshole, with no content for life and other people's feelings, and whose main interaction with the world is sadly looking at the horizon for half the movie and screaming at his supposedly best friends for the other half, I can't really say I see your point.
When you claim that your fan film is going to be better than movies made by professionals we’re going to judge you at every single thing and this one fails at capturing a good spider man story.
For a fan film I simply applause obviously this wasn’t made with such high budget like most Hollywood movies but that’s what makes it special. Someone that wanted to create something passionate and full of wonders. Great job.

There are some really amazing things happening in this film. I think it suffers a bit from being stretched to a feature length film(a long with a million other things), but I really appreciate the vision and there is a lot of conscious sentiment in it.
