Also, I want to take a moment to shoutout Lissa deGuzman as Elphaba and Jennafer Newberry as Glinda. I saw them both as leads on tour, and it was great to see them reunited on Broadway. Being a standby is a very hard job, and both of these actors are top notch and gave killer performances. Everyone please send them love!!! Wicked is in amazing hands with them! 💜

This is what I was thinking... people who have never seen the show before, probably wouldn't have even realized this was a mistake if the tech guy hadn't walked out on stage at the end.
I saw Wicked in 2005 in St Louis. Glinda was Kendra Kassebaum. The bubble broke during No One Mourns the Wicked. They stopped the show and then 30 min later they restarted. When they yelled Look it’s Glinda. Kendra walked on stage. No bubble the rest of the night. During the finale when Glinda does her speech. She just stood on stage same spot just a few feet away from Stephanie. Memorable show for sure.
Hey at least it was the END of the show, and it also looked semi intentional to those not used to how it’s supposed to go, up until the stage manager came out 🤣 Then it was like “Oop she got stuck”
I feel like there was an automation failure considering the torch also didnt go off stage, seemed like they had to manually close the curtain, and the side cogs didnt come together to make the curtain fit
Poor Jennafer just standing there waving like Miss America, being a good sport about it while probably scared that she just lives in the bubble forever now, while this poor tech guy has to figure out wtf they're going to do about it.

First issue is her safety. She is connected to the bubble framework behind her so they'll need to bring out a tall A-frame ladder or cherry picker to disconnect her and bring her down, THEN they'll start working on the bubble and figuring out why it didn't land. Normally when she lands another cast member is behind her to disconnect her so she can then step out of it and get on with the show. Similarly with Elphaba's flying at end of Act I, she steps on the device to lift her but if she doesn't get latched in, it's a no-go. I remember hearing of that happening once years ago and she had to sing the whole song from the stage floor.
This is how it should be. Glinda's perfection separated her from others to the point of becoming a messianic figure. The show is about Elphaba's courage to find herself. The relationship between the two witches was platonic, so pure, so crystalline. Like a "ship blown from its mooring, by a wind off the sea; A seed dropped by a sky bird in a distant wood". I mean, by simple chance.
And the well was still there too 😭 Also didn't something similar happen with Lindsay Pearce after Defying Gravity where she was just left up there without a curtain down
The curtain didn’t come down after defying gravity so Lindsay was stuck up there when the lights came on at intermission lol they prob didn’t wanna move her until the curtain came down in case it ruined the magic of dg somehow!
They were all so professional. I bet many in the audience didn't even know about the faux pas by the way they handled the situation. At the same time they whole cast seemed to be loving it. The stage hand was so good at making sure she was okay. It must be great to have such a dedicated team behind you in these circumstances.
i honestly think they need to temporarily shut doors to get new set pieces and shit in cause tech mishaps have been happening way more often than it normally would over at the gershwin

What exactly is the purpose of people “wooing”? Is it to let the talent know you’re there or do you think they’re going to acknowledge you? Because quite honestly it’s annoying as hell. Just applaud, it’s not about you…
And THAT is live theatre and why you don't go on "auto pilot" for as sure as you do, something like this happens and yanks you out of it. Bravo to all of them that took it in stride and adjusted on the spot to what was happening! The SM should have lowered the scrim first before going out onto the stage. I bet this became the company joke for months afterwards!
Considering the fact that wicked is the 4th longest running show on broadway, I would think they have B mode, no fly options for both Glinda & elphaba flying.
