The Spitzkoppe, German for "pointed dome”, is a group of bald granite peaks or inselbergs located between Usakos and Swakopmund in the Namib desert of Namibia.
The granite is more than 120 million years old and the highest outcrop rises about 1,728 metres above sea level. The peaks stand out dramatically from the flat surrounding plains.
Bushman’s Paradise Cave is the site of an ancient settlement, where a number of excellent samples of rock art were discovered. The rock art at Bushman’s Paradise is believed to have been made between 4,400 BCE and 100 AD. They were first noticed by European settlers in the early 20th century, and prior to their mistreatment were regarded as one of the finest collections of rock art in Namibia.
Camp Site
We drove around and followed the camp site map looking for a nice camping spot…. And then we found the perfect one named Swakop!!
