@@wadibison I'm a long time follower of Chris. While he plays jank, when conditions are met, things actually pop off. Here, the popping off is activating leyline a million times, irrespective of the medallion or snakes 🤣🤣🤣
I think the key to getting Jessie Zane to pop off is to draw 2 when a snake enters instead of trying to make everything snakes. When you draw 2 you only need half your deck to be snakes to go infinite. Try [[Sylvan Anthem]] and [[Tribute to the World Tree]] if you are in a monogreen deck. The snakes will enter as 3/2s triggering the extra card draw from world tree. The scry from Anthem can also help you get over a few dry patches in the deck.
You’re forgetting to refresh the top 6 in your mind every trigger. If you roll 6, 5, 4 your deck would look like; S(Snake) D(what was already in the deck) DDDSSS Assuming you can’t draw off the creatures you’re playing you have to conjure several snakes in the first several slots. There’s something close to 1/36 chance once you had your combo pieces for you to actually pop off
Yeah, even after 5 snakes shuffled in there is still a 32% chance that the top card isn't a snake. (0.8^5) If you could implement some kind of scry into this you could make it much more consistant. Even just a single scry 1 would add a lot of consistency.
If you want to actually get all snakes, you want to be able to tutor out everything except the snakes. Shuffling the snakes back in and taking everything else out is the best way to eventually have all snakes. I'd add a lot more card draw, take out the leylines, add some land ramp or fetches to shuffle more, and then run a lot of creatures that draw a card when they enter. Eventually you should have a deck that's mostly snakes, so then you'll be a lot more likely to be able to chain snakes together. The only other way I can think of to get all snakes is to run a scry deck and put all the snakes on the bottom, and never shuffle. Theoretically, if you have enough card draw, you can eventually draw into the pile of snakes you've been putting on the bottom of your deck. That seems less feasible, but actually guarantees 100% snakes once you get there.
The problem he's encountering is that just "shuffle one into the top 6" doesn't mean "above everything non-snek" so he could be conjuring the sneks behind something non-snek that stops the popping off. What he needs is to be able to get past the non-sneks easily. My suggestions: 1) Beast Whisperers and Great Henge(s) for additional card draw beyond just one per snek played, which should "hop over" the "one" non-snek holding things up. 2) Vivien, Monster's Advocate, where he could play the non-snek off the top of the deck to get past it and to the next snek. And when he casts it off the top with Maskwood Nexus in play, he puts another snek into the next top 6 cards since he "cast" a snek, so keeps adding sneks to keep the combo going a lot longer. Those would be my two main suggestions. Optional bonus suggestion(s): 3) Add Samut, Tyrant Smasher(s) to yield up haste and pop-off + attack in a single turn. Also helps to use additional mana elves or sanctum weavers same-turn to keep playing. 4) Add Fynn, Fangbearer for alternate snek/deathtouch/poison counter wincon.
For both your suggestions, you'd need a lot more card draw and would absolutely deck yourself at some point. He'd need to draw 6 cards for every snake played to guarantee another snake. The point of this deck is to eventually guarantee a snake off of each snake and that's just not gonna happen with card draw alone...unless... Okay, here's the third option. Play some non-legendary copy effects and start putting more than one snake in the deck per snake you play. That would nearly guarantee that at some point, you'll start drawing only snakes. It can still fizzle, but when it does, that just means there are a ton of snakes near the top, so you can go off next turn. Adding haste, however, is an awesome idea. I would also add something that lets your snakes become dorks, so you can literally play infinite snakes.
I actually built a pretty decent deck similar to this... Added a couple Jaces to fix the decking problem, and a little mana fixing since one needs some blue for the jaces. I went a bit overboard and made a fairly large franken-deck with a number of amusing things up its sleeves. But, the point is, adding Beast Whisperers & Great Henges worked reasonably well for extra card draw. Vivien helped get past singleton creatures on top, and Oracle of Mul Daya helped get past singleton land on top. Also, Defense of the Heart was fairly magical for getting combo piece into play relatively quickly if not already in hand. ["Quick," of course also being relative, I guess...] Me being me, I also added a couple Wrenn & Seven to plunk down extra lands I happened to draw. So, ended up doing like 2 each of Vivien, Samut, Wrenn, & Jace. Set of Beast Whisperers, and a couple Great Henges. Added a couple mirror boxes so I could plunk multiples of any Planeswalkers or whatever else. Maskwood Nexuses for making all things snek. A few Chromatic Lanters, and World Trees, and Dryads of the Ilysian Grove for mana fixing. Some Oracle of Mul Daya for getting top-deck lands out of the way. And a couple Paradox Engines to make the mana elves repeatable as many times as needed to keep casting sneks and keep the mana/turn rolling along.
You inspired me to rejoin arena after being away for too long. Been watching you for longer. I made a janky deck centered around oracle of the alpha with dedicated doll maker and three blind mice. I’ve made it to gold lol
Add a Mirror Box so you can have multiples of the snake producer. I know the series is on how to break the medallions, but I'd definitely take out a medallion, a nexus, and two leylines. By the time you pop off you've seen so many cards...
I would add Eladamri, Korvecdal into this deck. You would cast creatures from the top - generating new snakes. In case of noncreature on top you would play the snake, to get to the next card by drawing the current one.
Mirror Box does the trick nicely... Also lets to play multiple of any planeswalkers on decides to splash, like Vivien, Monsters' Advocate, or Samut, Tyrant Smasher, or Jace (the one that wins when you deck yourself), or Wrenn & Seven to drop any extra lands into play from your hand.
It would! Thought the same myself. Things I'd add: Beast Whisperer / Great Henge (extra card draw to get past non-sneks). Vivien Monster's Advocate (to play non-sneks off the top and get to more sneks) Samut Tyrant Smasher (for haste on sneks and also on mana elves / sanctum weavers to keep play going with extra manas) Fynn Fangbearer (for fun extra snek/deathtouch/poison counter wincon naughtiness) Helm of the Host (for Jessie Zane, or maybe even for one of the Sneks for an extra draw when it comes in, if the copy has the 'draw' ability copied, or one of the other ETB creatures?)
@@MGmirkin it's always easy to add cards, but what would you take out? Also consider the deck should be a jank-monster with crazy combos not a meta deck, no one is interested in the meta here
Who the hell said anything about the meta?? I don't give two craps what anyone else is playing. Just suggesting some support cards to support the jank. So, whatever, I guess... 🤣🤷♂ And who said anything about taking anything out? Not every deck has to be exactly 60 cards. 😜 Add a few extra forests. Ignore the Fynn, which was just an amusing idea for the sneks which all have deathtouch, for an alt wincon. Helm is optional. But, also, add Defense of the Heart. Great for getting your combo creatures out to jank it up ASAP. But, what do I know? I just play here... :P Also, built the deck, more or less, and it works pretty well. Though, personally I added a bunch of other stuff, too, pretty much all jank, and it's kinda' hilarious to play with sometimes. Ended up with a kind of hybrid Jessie Zane / Oracle of the Alpha / Displacer Kittens deck. Which also runs Ghalta & Last March of the Ents to drop masses of creatures into play, with Samut to haste 'em up. Mirror Boxes to drop multiple Jessie Zanes into play and to make the snek army bigger. But, anywho...
In green aggro decks (or red decks), you should always splash one or two Samut, Tyrant Smasher for haste, so you can pop off and win that turn by schmack-a-lacking in for "GGs!" or continue using any new green mana elves you draw or other things like Sanctum Weavers to keep your turn going
You could also toss in Beast Whisperer & Great Henge for extra draws on sneks... Yeah, you definitely needed extra card draw to get more chances at hitting more of your sneks for each snek played...
Defense of the Heart is great for pulling down snek combo pieces, or alternately for dropping Disciple + Ghalta into play in a single turn, drawing 12 cards by sacking Ghalta (after dropping any creatures in hand onto the battlefield first) and then pretty much getting everything you need and then some.
it is impossible to have guranteed only snakes, because they have to hit the top spots as well. If all snakes hit the spots 2 or higher, you're never going to loose the first snake
You can pseudo-guarantee by adding extra draws from "Beast Whisperer" / "Great Henge" or "Vivien, Monster's Advocate" to play non-sneks off the top and conjure more sneks in if Maskwood Nexus is in play. A combination of those 3 would really help keep the combo going, I think? Add Samut, Tyrant Smasher for haste on sneks and mana elves / sanctum weavers to keep the mana/turn rolling along.
You could probably get rid of the last green mana by using Defiler of vigor. Now just some lifegain to offset the 2 life, like Prosperous innkeeper and you've got a stew going. Let's cook!
Vivien Monster's Advocate. +Beast Whisperers & Great Henges. Samut for Haste. Problems mostly solved through extra card draw [to draw past non-sneks], top-deck play [of non-sneks], and haste to keep the turn going with hasty elves / Weavers. Easy pop-off, IMO. Would love to see him play it with those couple alterations.
Not a terrible idea. But you need more draw and less search. Heck, a few howling mines might do it. Or those green enchantments that let you draw cards for having creatures with 4 or more power.
Nah, Howlies give opponents some moderate advantage. Use Beast Whisperer & Great Henge + Vivien, Monster's Advocate. Should resolve the "one non-snek ruins the combo" issue through extra card draw of "play non-sneks off the top of the deck" shenanigans. Add Samut, Tyrant smasher for snek Haste & same-turn kill or to use mana elves / Sanctum Weavers to keep things rolling with extra same-turn manas. ^_^ Those would be my solutions.
yeah, the problem is that this wont work unless you get incredibly lucky (even if you have everything set up). lets say you have 1 ambush snakes and 4 pseudo snakes in hand, but no other ambush snakes in library, and assume mana isnt a concern. you need at least one ambush snake to be conjured into first place to keep drawing. the chance of that happening is 1-(5/6)^5=60%. so not very likely. and then you would still need one in second place or the one on cast being put in first place. i would have to think a bit about the probabilities to figure out how much you would have to cast to have a very high probability of that happening. once you actually have 5 snakes in the top 5 places and one in hand, you are good to keep going, but you have to get to that point first. one fix for this issue might be to add something like great henge or songe of creation to draw extra cards (even for non ambush snakes) and will help bridge the gap once you start drawing the snakes. maybe take out the maskwood nexus (and instead put in mana dorks that already are snakes, although they are little bit more expensive) or just one of the card draw spells (dont need freyalise if you are drawing card on every creature/spell anyways). the issue with that would just be that you might deck yourself, since you are drawing more cards than you are putting back in.
Me thinks zane needs to be booped into and out of the battlefield each turn. That in combination with "when creature enters, draw card" Then spice it up with "target creature fight other target creature" but might not work with 7 snakes in the top of your deck.

Technically, Beast Whisperer doesn't trigger Zane on its own, but with Maskwood Nexus in play, sure. ;) Use both, more card draw. 4x Beast Whisperer, 2x Great Henge. Add Mirror Boxen to play multiple Jessie Zanes and buff snek army based on how many in play.
Im surprised you werent using the snake druid that lets you use any mana to cast creatures and allows you to cast from the top of the library. It plus 2 emerald medallions makes your ambush vipers free.
If we want to add more combo pieces, then Elven Chorus + Tyvar, Jubilant Brawler in addition could theoretically go infinite in Magical Christmas Land lol
