This is great for just making content. Although, mine does this weird thing where it starts selecting certain shapes only and not the rest of the image. I've updated my AE recently and I don't recall Puppet doing this last time.

How do you convert the illustrator file to Ae? I mean converting it as one shape so you wouldn't have to deal with a lot of shapes or layers
Save your character as a png file
Import as footage rather than a composition. That will merge all layers and keep it as a vector, which scales better than a png would.
