Hello mate, I'm in a bit of a pickle and was wondering if you can help. My old man recently got an IC-E90 from my brother, but doesn't have a charger or anything. I have found a BC-110D Power supply online, but does he also need to have the BC-139 desktop charger, or can he just buy the power supply, plug it in direct to the handset and charge it that way? Any information you can give, and any help on where to find these bits for less than extortionate prices would be much appreciated. And I'm sure this video will also come in handy, once he has the charger haha! Cheers boss

@@MechaPlays hi, yes the BC139 desktop charger is required for fast charging but Icom also have a rather weird PSU for direct charging which is 11vdc….. yes that’s correct 11vdc. The output has no special switching and is a simple wall wart power supply. If you have QRZ then look up my callsign G5STO and email me for more information. Please don’t go and buy the BC-110D until I’ve checked the specs. The BC139 needs a normal 12vdc PSU but as mentioned the IC-E90 also works direct with a special 11vdc PSU. It’s around 14vdc until under load which is expected. Email me through QRZ please before you buy anything, regards de Spence G5STO

@@CodfishCatfish Appreciate the response, and don't worry we won't be buying anything until he knows for sure what he needs to get haha. I shall pass the information on, and let my old man take it from there (: Thanks again!

Fine business. As mentioned in the video that you can use any 12vdc PSU for the BC139 so long as you have the larger 2.5mm 5.5mm type DC jack I think it is. It’s not the smaller 2.1mm 5.5mm jack. The official Icom charger will plug directly into the side of the radio and no need to faff about with battery swaps like the video as it simply charges the battery while attached to the radio.
