I am a nurse of 38 years, a critical care, Cardiology nurse… I appreciate your research and your understanding and respect for western medicine is separate from a holistic approach to well being. “Apples to oranges.” I often have patients ask why those of us practising medicine do not use herbs, sunlight, diet to treat patients. Truth is, I educate daily on all of these things but typically by the time the patient sees myself or the physician, they are in an acute state that needs to healed often times because of their lifestyle and choices.
I love the research data and studies that you reference. Patients often Google, and that is not necessarily a credible source. medical people do use journals, Test studies and research. I sincerely appreciate you and plan to direct patients to your videos when I’m teaching

From what I understand, turmeric is best absorbed when taken with fat, black pepper, and heat (i.e. when used in cooking). A turmeric tea would be a nice way to consume it. It's also good on mixed vegetables with lots of butter :)

After 6 months 7 of my teeth broke off - no blood, no pain except for the sharp points left on the remaining portion of the teeth. I have been semi-fasting, eating within a 4-6 hr window and then not again until the next day. Because I have excess skin, this has helped but the process is slow. I understand a deeper fast will encourage your body to start winnowing out excess skin that your body doesn't need.

He has one video on his electrolyte fasting drink that incorporates acv and for the turmeric i went to the grocery and got a simple turmeric and black pepper tea. It is not fermented like the brand he uses but the black pepper helps the body absorb curcumins by 2000%

I drink turmeric tea (Yogi Honey Chai Turmeric Vitality) during 14-15 hours fast and I love curry and I often add it into my meal
I don't know whether it's autophagy or whatsoever, but the most recent pulmonary (Feb 17) indicates my lung function completely restored from covid 2 years ago which caused lung damage
I do 14-15 hours intermittent fasting 3-4 days a week starting January

If AMPK activation is the goal then Berberine is perhaps a better choice than Turmeric. Taken orally Berberine is just as effective as Metformin at lowering blood sugar and activating AMPK without the side effects of Metformin.
Berberine is not very bioavailable, but it doesn't have to be, the amount that is absorbed from taking 500mg three times a day is plenty for the desired metabolic effects, plus it's easier to find in stores and online, and much cheaper than fermented turmeric, than the enhanced absorption formulations of Curcumin with black pepper extract or a micellar curcumin.
Berberine also modulates the microbiome. It has anti-bacterial action against pathogenic gram negative bacteria and yeast strains, while actually promoting the growth of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium... which on a side note is why I also make my own yogurt with specifically selected strains of bacteria, as the cultures in virtually all commercial yogurt are formulated for desired texture and flavor of the yogurt and not for the probiotic health benefits. This way along with diet, fasting and taking the Berberine, I can control the environment of my microbiome better than the average person.
I sometimes take the Micellar Curcumin AND Berberine, but most often I just take the Berberine and there really is no noticeable benefit to taking both over just the Berberine.

any recommendations for dosage if we want to try? just a teaspoon every day for 2 weeks? or is it more like 3 teaspoons a day for a month? also, is it better to do this at the start of the fast, to get things going quicker, like right after a meal, or should we do it in the middle, or maybe even shortly before the meal to trick the body into a fasted state while eating? I do OMAD with Keto right now, and slowly been hitting a plateau, but still have almost 30% body fat, so something that could just kick me 1 or 2 kg in the next couple of weeks would help me out a lot, just to see a different number on the scale and stay motivated.
