Can't thank you enough for the high quality videos you are sharing Alan. Just returned form the BVI's with a group of 17 friends. Rented 3 Aquila's from MarineMax for a week. We used this itinery and it could not have been better. Everyone really enjoyed the perfectly planned itinerary. Going to enjoy watching your videos after the trip as well to "bring me back." Wishing you luck with your future boat repair endeavor.
Thank you Alan. My wife and I have started planning her 40th Birthday BVI Charter trip and fortunately stumbled upon your page. After about a week of watching, we've finally watched all your videos. Thank you for your wealth of knowledge regarding everything there is to know and do when chartering a boat. From an aspiring travel TH-cam vlogger, thank you for sharing all your ups and your downs . I hope your luck turns with the new boat, we'll be sending some good vibes your way.
As always a great video. BVI needs to hire you as an ambassador. Last year at this time we did a 7 days trip and spent 2 days in the north south. Definitely worth the time. Anchor at Bitter end and then you can dingy around to all the spots
We did the same thing in April. Anchored at Bitter End for 2 nights and it was an awesome idea. Hit the baths one day and bitter end beach, then hit prickly pear and saba rock the next!
Great video. Thinking about also spending our first night at Leverick. How long does it take to get there from the moorings base? We will be on the 403 powercat. Don’t want to go full speed ahead, but somewhat leisurely. Thanks in advance.
Alan, keep having fun, this great info. And I hope the BVI tourist board appreciates your love for the BVI. Once again, great content, thank you for sharing.
Thanks Alan! This is fantastic detail. We're heading to the BVIs soon, and I will definitely use screen prints from this as I captain my charter. This is my 2nd trip but first time captaining. So sorry to hear about your boat damage. Hang in there!
Loved it back then, love it now... One thing to consider and mention.... Your trips are done using a power boat which means... You move way faster which means... A sail boat all have hard time executing this plan... For sure not at ease.
Not really....the biggest move is like 13 nautical miles. At, let's say, 6 knots....thats like 2.5 hours. Just more beautiful time on the water! Thanks for watching!
Another awesome video Alan, really appreciate the info and time spent putting it together. We hired a PC43 this summer and your content really helped me put together a great two week charter for my family, who are now entirely hooked on these holidays! Btw, while we were back at Moorings base my son and I took a taxi to MarineMax to check out their fleet. A chap called Kevin couldn’t have been more helpful, he showed us onboard all their models and was a true ambassador. Hoping to get back in 2024 but on an Aquila 44
This is the perfect companion to your Ultimate 7 Day BVI Charter Video. I'm not sure whether to thank you or curse you! ;) Either way, it's time to start crossing items off the bucket list and this will be item #1. Your BVI videos are the gold standard. Thank you for taking the time to put these together.
Great video!! We are leaving in 2 weeks to start our 7 day trip!!! Thanks to your videos and tips we have a great vacation planned. Will follow your CCW direction. Question about bring the dinghy in to Anegada (and at other locations that you are not patronizing immediately)- meaning, we want to park our dinghy to go get scooters…but where should we do that if we are not eating at a restaurant until later that evening? Where to park your dinghy? Thanks for your advise! Will post back after our trip!
Wow. Thanks so much! Love to help! U can park the dinghy at Potters. Yes it’s a restaurant but it’s also a public dinghy dock. Park away. Look at it this way…public dock that benefits Potters. Not the other way around. Have fun and be safe!
@@thewanderinghillbilly Great, thank you. Wish there were more like that here in Clearwater - Seminole. Also - I started reading The Republic of Pirates at your suggestion 🤓. I saw that you fueled up on your trip - wasn’t expecting to need to do that for this 7 day trip. We too like the AC, which will use more fuel - not worried about it - will get some if we need it. Thanks again.
@@thewanderinghillbilly - Well, we did your BVI 7 day itinerary - it was perfect for us! A truly magical trip! Weather was great too in Feb / March. Hard to pick a favorite - but the Baths was one of our favorites, Saba Rock / Bitter End, and lobsters at Potter’s on Anegada, and Scrub Island Resort were highlights. Well, heck, I guess they were all favorites! Look forward to going back - thanks again for all you help and information.
Thanks so much for sharing. We will be there from the 10th and will be following this route on a sailing cat. The distances are tiny, so although it will take longer we should be able to do it all! 😀
Well now you're just making too much sense. You're right. I was smitten at the beginning....and now she's my expensive "lady friend". Hah. And it is part of the fun figuring it all out. Gonna have a blast taking it to the Bahamas this spring. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Thank you for all the great videos. I am sailing a new Voyage 590e in March and so looking forward to it. What time of day do you typically drop your ball and head to the next destination?
I usually leave around 10 or so...grab an afternoon ball just after lunch...and get the evening ball around 4. Doesn't always go that way but it's a great pattern. Thanks for watching!
great content, love all of your videos...we are renting an aquila in june through marinemax. What're your favorite snorkling spots? Also, if you have any must do's for the week, please let me know!
Thanks so much! I love to snorkel The Indians the most. Just off Norman Island. Monkey Point on Guana Island is pretty sweet too. A must to me is Anegada. But everyone has their “musts”….we’re all different. Thanks for watching and have a great trip!!
Going in January....2 weeks...🤗😁cant wait! 1st stop..Willie T... Worried about sharks though...like to snorkel...don't want to bump into any while I'm down there...been watching your videos 4eva...❤
There are ZERO sharks in the BVI. People get this confused with the Bahamas all the time. Sharks are EVERYWHERE in the Bahamas. None in the BVI. You won't see any. Jump in and have fun! Thanks for watching.
Nanny Cay, take me back now please! Ring toss at the bar, waiting to get on the boat....ahhh, too much fun! If you ever see the Big Dog out there give a wave to them, that's who we were with for 10 days and I can't wait to get back on board!! Saba Rock & Bitter End, so fun ,we stay 2 days there. Anagada....now you're just making this tough to watch, ugh. Norman Island, great hiking and Willy T!!! The Rum Bar.....I'm staring at the sicker as I type this......this cubicle sucks! 😆😆
Love your channel. Going back to the BVI's again in a couple of months, last there Jan 2019. Boaty Ball reservations gone up from $30 to $55. I've had hotel rooms cheaper than that ;-)
Wow...those are really cheap rooms! LOL. yeah, it's a bit of a bummer about the balls...unfortunately, the BVI's are more popular than ever. Thanks for watching!
Alan, your vlog is inspiring, the BVI chartering & boating info, how to be a good captain, and life mgmt. You are a very effective communicator! My wife and I are preparing to do our first BVI charter. We have cruising experience (12 trips to the Abacos) on our own power boat. Question from a past video about using Head. I will have a lot of women on our charter and they wonder about what to do with the toilet paper.
