** Why Do We Hunt Hogs? **
Feral hogs are a non-native and invasive species in Texas. Each year hogs cause millions of dollars in damage in the form of damaged crops, contaminated water supplies, broken equipment, transmission of diseases and injury to livestock.
Feral hogs compete with native wildlife for resources and also prey directly on the eggs and young of ground nesting birds and will actively hunt small mammals, frogs, lizards and snakes.
Due to their intelligence, adaptability, and prolific breeding habits, traditional methods of hunting and trapping have been largely ineffective in reducing the feral hog population. The introduction of night vision and thermal optics has greatly increased landowners' ability to mitigate the destruction caused by feral hogs.
Feral swine are not considered game animals in Texas and may be hunted by any means or methods at any time of year.

3. fences do nothing unless it has all pannels in the ground like a foot which is even more expensive
4. they attack people and their pets
5. they are invasive and destroy the enviroment
6. they kill and push out native species which lowers bio diversity
you have zero clue what you are talking about. you should be worried about the animals that are being killed by these invasive species and the lack of biodiversity they are causing.

I think it’s important for people to realize these aren’t friendly, pink barnyard pigs. These things can grow to be gargantuan MONSTERS, and they are dangerous as hell. I’m legit more scared of coming across a feral hog than I am a bear or cougar.
Feral hogs are unlike cougars in that they will eat ANYTHING. And they’re unlike bears in that they aren’t really all that skittish… In fact you’re more likely to get killed by a hog than you are a bear or a cougar…

@SL1AYER585 exactly. You can face a cougar and walk slowly away as it's not their forté to charge their prey. Black bears will be scared by you using loud sounds and brown bears may ignore you if you play dead. But hogs, they just don't care and will gore ppl

The craziest part of this is that they where able to drive so smoothly through fields. Hats off to the farmers who could maintain their land that well.
Video editing plus a good camera can be 110% deceiving, it's incredible how stable you can make a bouncy video look. I would have never known if I didn't get into video editing myself

I think the most insane thing about the feral hog problem in the Southern US is that these hunting vids show an extreme but teeny-tiny fraction of the effort that goes into controlling the population and it still looks like you're barely keeping tabs on the little bastards. Keep up the good work, protect them crops!

And rightly so.
Poison will be the least used method, though perhaps not as little used as I think, since pigs will literally eat anything.
Traps are used extensively, extennnnnnnsively, trying to catch whole herds of them. But pigs are smart, have good ears, and run at basically the first man made noise. Boars also migrate over perhaps hundreds of miles. They are hard to predict.
If all of America switched over to eating Hogs instead of beef and chicken. We would probably have enough Hogs to feed America for like 10-15 years

This will not work on the hogs. They will recognize mortar fire from a distance, and rapidly spread out to mitigate the collateral damage advantage of the mortars.

I would think xm193 with a 1:9 out of a 20” would be best for this. Its cheap, high capacity, has great soft tissue performance and gives you the most platform choices.

How can they shoot that many rounds without a cool-down period? I guess they are just splicing the footage together. Any idea what type of ammo they use?

What are you use for ammo on that hog hunt?
It’s so impressive that the hogs are much serious than the costs of ammo.
They can sell hog meat to the zoo or they can make animal feed pellets using hog meat
They can also be used for pet food, donated to hungry families or just simply left for scavengers (if they remove any lead bullets)

@@jake2024 not so little anymore. I heard that the pigs are getting larger and larger by the year. Nowadays catching a large 100-150 kg boar is relatively easy

I was wondering if all the brass in the field is damaging to farm equipment as well. I assume not…
Farm tools are all steel or iron, brass is much softer, and most harvest tools don't touch the ground. The only time it might be an issue is potaties or beets, but those use very tolerant deisgns that let the dirt sift out during harvest anyway. Note the stubble they're driving over: that's what's left after harvesting cereal grains like wheat

I'm from east asia and we seldom see feral hogs in our place so it really hurts me to see this kind of eradication of feral hogs but i'm sure you have your reasons in doing so. Might not be a problem to us but to you they might be a plague, so different places, different problems.

Automatic fire is fun but it's actually way less effective. You end up with 10 bullets in one hog and 0 in the one next to him
