  • The QSP Penguin has been upgraded! Now a titanium framelock and with S35vn steel, but the price is still absurdly low. Almost too low to believe actually. But, is this cute little folder really any good? Let’s find out.

I have a Ti Penguin with a 154CM blade and the OG pivot design. It was 100 bucks and worth every penny. One of my favorite less expensive knives. Right up there with my Ferrum Forge Stinger and my TOPS MSF. Super smooth and consistent action and perfect lock up and disengagement. Nice to see a more budget friendly upload every once in a while. We all love the super Gucci Reate OEM stuff and mid techs and full customs but, sometimes you just need a good less expensive option when you really plan on using the crap out of your knife.

I own the penguin currently and love that little budget knife. I have always wanted a mokuti knife but I'm a guy who usually buys $300 to $350 range knives but once I saw this video and saw the ridiculously low price of the mokuti penguin, I had to jump on it! I finally have a Mokuti knife in my collection! Thank you so much for your videos, and as always, your honesty.

Just wait for more 2022 stuff to arrive. QSP is totally killing it. Their SHOT show booth was banging. Penguin coming in mini, XL, and flipper versions. The Mamba V2. The new foil/carbon fiber “Damascus” scales they’re putting out are beautiful and unique. They had it on a Damascus blade Penguin and a Hawk. Insane. The brand is going places and picking up speed.
Civivi has their hands full with competition now, and it kinda looks like they’re just focused on beating the button lock trend to death and that’s kind of it.. well.. along with trying to low key slowly jack their prices up.

Thank you! Many reviewers will do a 20+ minute review and never once talk about reverse detent or show the free drop action. Just sit there and fingerbang it over and over. Those are two huge aspects for me and largely determine what I purchase. I have enough good utility user knives, I mostly just buy fun stuff to look at and play with so I want an easy and early reverse detent and drop shutty action. Basically I just want much cheaper Shiros. 😁👍

YT axed my first comment, but I was saying I was amazed that I can now say I can afford something out of a Jim Skelton video, and I appreciate you bringing this to light. The blade shape always interested me but I wasn't moved enough on d2 or 154cm to pick one up. Turns out there are some INSANE versions of this knife for WAY less than I thought, so I pulled the trigger right away. Cheers for making my night, Jim.

I have the frag pattern titanium in 154CM and it's honestly a great little knife that's quite pleasant to handle and use. The thinness with the much more solid sounding/ feeling lockup of the titanium frame lock is great.

After gifting a couple of the D2/ denim micarta versions and being impressed with the overall quality and F+F for under 30 bucks i snagged one of the frag Ti framelocks with 154cm blade steel on bearings with the milled Ti clip and once again i was impressed! The action is great along with the machine work and its a nice lightweight package overall. Love the wharnie only small gripe i wish the geometry was ground thinner behind the edge but i say that about almost every production folder 😂. I find myself reaching for the penguin over much more expensive blades in my collection sometimes and find it to be a keeper. Nice to see some budget videos on your channel and i was also unaware you were putting out content still. Many videos to catch up on with your channel!
