Don’t think I’ve ever seen one that color before but I really like it. Don’t care for the fender skirts or that Continental Kit but others probably do! Too nice to drive, really. Turboglide?

Probably , one of the " nicest " '58 Impalas in existence ! Cost ? That's for the wealthy class . I remember when you could buy these vehicles " unrestored " for just a few hundred dollars back in the late sixties . My how times have changed !!! Mark E. ​Awkward access to the tronk, too much weight o the rear and non factory look. This one is better than some that look likr swim platforms. Just my prefrence. Superb example.

Back in 1976 in Iran I had an Impala as a company car. Most awful car I ever drove. Fast in a straight line but It had no idea when it came to a corner. Suspension so soft it went wherever the road surface dictated. As for brakes. I'm not sure it had any. Even worse it was pink in colour. American cars at their worst.

Sounds like you had a bad or poorly maintained car. Calling the 1958 Chevy Impala "American cars at their worst" is just objectively a false statement.
