Fun fact ; two of Lorna Shore guitarists ( Adam and Andrew ) used to be Teemu's ( one with the green guitar here ) students so yeah.. there's no doubt about their musicianship, all of them are top notch
I didn't know that. Teemu is a monster on the guitar. Perfectly nailed Winter Madness solo when I saw them.
@@ThaBeatConductor I watched one of their old podcast when a fan asked if they knew about Lorna shore and they said never heard of them except Teemu who said that actually both of the guitarists are his students so he knew about them

Also the basist is now in Nightwish, after Marko left. I'm eagerly waiting for him to sing there, too. I've heard he has a good voice, but cannot hear him from this, as the all sing together all the time.

Unfortunately Jari, the mind behind Wintersun takes forever to put out music. So the drummer and bassist are in Nightwish now.
I don't use the word masterpiece often, but at least half of the Wintersun songs are masterpieces. Hell, I don't even consider Pain Remains trilogy a masterpiece(even though it's damn near one and I might enjoy Lorna Shore more).
Every Wintersun song can be listened to dozens of times before your ear will pick out that thing you never heard before. There are a ridiculous amount of layers. This song, for instance, has over 1600 tracks on the mixer and actually crashed PC's trying to run it. Keep in mind this song was made in like 2008.
I got the chance to see Wintersun live and they are the only band that was as tight live as in the studio. It was extremely impressive, and I've seen some truly insane players live, but not the whole band so consistent. Teemu (blue guitar guy) is super under recognized in the metal world but he plays the solo to Winter Madness perfectly live every single time. I've never seen a video where he hits a bad note, and that solo is widely considered to be one of the most difficult solos in all of metal. Jari (vocals/composer/white guitar) is no slouch on the guitar either, guy can shred.
Also, a bit about the vocals, Jari is doing all those growls and belts with a part of one of his lungs missing. He got tuberculosis while in the Finnish military and had to have about 1/3 of one lung removed.

I laugh when you mentioned those bands. If those are the only "metal" bands that you know for comparison... you have all to discover in metal music. Also, I disagree that "metal is all the same", altough some american "metal" bans really sound the same. I lost track of the many genders among metal from glam, swing, viking, folk, progressive, rap... you name it! Go and check for yourself.
Yeah I can accept that. With me not growing up in metal or knowing a lot it does kind of sound the same however it most likely isn’t. Yeah when I got some time I may do so 😊
