There's something about Mick and Pete when you get into a country blues groove you just absolutely blow my mind and I'm sat here are work grinning like a buffoon. Love Fridays... just going to rewind and watch that jam again...

I like the Chappers/Captain videos for the OTT humour and shredding, but Mick and Pete are on another level of feel.

One of the best episodes of Guitar Paradiso ever. Beautiful guitars, luscious tones, stellar jamming. It really doesn't get much better than this. I'd just love to see the guys jam for ten minutes straight. Scratch that, I wouldn't be bored after an hour. Mick and Pete are just a magic combination. Mick bleeds musicianship, and, like Rabea, pushes Pete to give the very best of himself. The personal chemistry is just bang on. Please keep Mick on GP every week!

I have one of those G5420Ts in Fairlane Blue. Beautiful looking, playing, and sounding guitar.
I love my Gretsch Electromatic! So classy... sounds great too. The tone on these guitars can go from a Strat or Tele twang to a creamy Les Paul-ish wail. They also work really well with high gain sounds and spacey effects.
Completely agree. I am a strat man and just added the 5420T to my collection. It has inspired me to finally get my hybrid finger picking perfected.
Your explanation is so far the best on how gretsch sounds. I always hear that they got that twang of strat or tele when driven a bit

Also the jam at 19:18 was the best jam I have ever heard on this channel.. I seriously clung to every note. Incredible guitar playing and feeling being portrayed through those Gretsch guitars.

It is ridiculous how good these two are.
I picked up a Fairlane Blue one not long after they came out...I call it the Blue Meanie. loved it then, and I still love it now!
I've also gigged it in hot and cold weather without issue. they really are fantastic guitars. :)
I have now bought the G5420T in fairline blue with complete Gretsch hardcase and it arrives next week. I AM STOKED. I tested one for almost 2 hours in a big sound room at 4Sound through a Fender Deluxe reissue tweed and man, i was just gone. Off to a complely different planet. I want to thank Andertons for your brilliant presenters who really set me on the right path to a hole new sound, both on a professional level and as a human. Sound defines us in this life. Thank you guys!

Good demo and discussion. I tried a bunch of Electromatics, and I thought they were okay, but not amazing. I eventually found an older 6120 and now it's my favourite guitar, despite the lack of locking tuners, a floating bridge and a non-Graph-Tec nut. It also lacks the treble bleed circuit.

My next guitar is either hollow or center block. Hollow I think since I could stuff it until I learn how to reliably control the feedback, which I love.
Wow Mick actually played the "feedback" at around 15:56 to 16:12 . Now he's really ok in my book for sure, as I do that. It takes talent to tame the feedback beast! But the results are always original and good.
The red G5422TG(Which I plan buying being a blues/country player) looks amazing. From far away the pickguard looks beige but up close it's actually almost a cream white
Wait...you went to NAMM, and you slept in what? Finish the story! lol....love these type of guitars, love the sound, but just can't get very comfortable with that style of playing. A mate once bought a Yamaha Pacifica 12 string. All was fine until his first string change. After a week he gave up trying to tune it and used it as a 6 string thereafter...
I'd really love to see Andertons do a video on the Gretsch Electromatic "Jet Club" and "pro Jet" guitars, I own a jet club and it is amazing for the price!

Phillip Harris Had one calling to me from its wall hanger today, very tempted to try it and risk spending money I don't really have. Think it's a matter of time & saving, though.
I had one that I kept going back to play for months and it was eight hundred. it dropped to six fifty and I picked it up immediately. timing is super key.

lol a cleaned up gretsch and a fender amp with some reverb is really all you need for that awesome sound.
I absolutely love my Tim Armstrong signature electromatic, but I really want the double cut-away for those songs that I need the higher frets.
