It would have been better if he spoke in Turkish(best for him) and subtitles were provided in english(best for us to understand). It's difficult to understand him.
This man has a basic fluency; but he badly needs proper, professional training, to enable him to give snappy answers to brief questions, if foreigners are going to grasp the rights and wrongs of the TRNC situation.
If he does not do this, the Greek /GC media will cut him to bits, and he will waste chances to win friends abroad.

A Turkish Cypriot friend of mine in politics in the North, already told me he can't speak properly but he's the best candidate answerable to Turkey they've got.

According to him, he doesn't want to do anything outside UN resolutions but already has re Varosha. He talks about two states already existing...according to him and Turkey only though. So .. The unoccupied part of Cyprus is in the EU. EU respects human rights and equality and the occupied side doesn't want to be in one state coz they are the minority. Even though they will have equal rights. So what they want is be the minority and have 50% power. For example lets say Uk has a lot of Indians. UK needs to give Indians 50% power right? It doesnt make sence. There is human equality in a one state solution its just that Turkey doesn't want to lose 'baby Turkey" and it triggers me coz it was never theirs to begin with.

The Turkish Cypriots, Armenians, Maronites, Greek Cypriots, and all foreign-born individuals who are now citizens of the Republic are equal EU citizens with the same rights as any other EU member state.

Mr. Tatar's demands for "sovereign equality and our equal international status" go against international norms and the EU. Even Turkey, when dealing with its own 22 million Kurdish population, has refused to accept the kind of solution that Tatar demands and has been involved in a decades-long bloody conflict. Erdogan's war against the Kurds has so far cost more than 55,000 Turkish and Kurdish lives. Kurds do not demand the partition of Turkey or sovereign equality and equal international status; they seek autonomy and recognition of their Kurdish identity. It is worth remembering that Kurds have faced a long history of discrimination perpetrated against them by the Turkish government. Massacres have periodically occurred against the Kurds since the establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923.
Additionally, Mr. Tatar's claims ignore the foundational principles of the EU and the Republic of Cyprus, which emphasize unity and coexistence among its diverse communities. The demand for sovereign equality implies a division that contradicts the spirit of reconciliation and integration that the EU promotes. The international community, including the United Nations, has repeatedly called for a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation as the most viable solution, which aligns with the principles of equality without compromising the territorial integrity of Cyprus.
Furthermore, the so-called "TRNC" (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) is recognized only by Turkey and is considered by the international community as the result of an illegal invasion and ongoing occupation. These actions have led to ethnic cleansing, which are war crimes under international law. In contrast, granting autonomy to the Kurds in Turkey would not involve such atrocities, as Kurds have historically inhabited these regions and seek recognition and self-governance rather than secession.

Cyprus does not belong to Turkey and Turkish SETLERS do not own the island. Cyprus is for the Cypriots, Greek Cypriots and PURE Turkish Cypriots. Varosha also belongs to it's lawful inhabitants.

I just want to know when did the byzantine empire catch the Cyprus island which year? and also whot year was it a greek island? did not the Venetians rule the island for a very long time and i heard that the byzantine empire asked for help from the ottoman turkish empire to free them from the Venetian rule as they were getting persecuted by ruling Catholic latins as the greeks are orthodox Christians!! so can someone please correct me if I'm wrong thank you.

There is no such thing as a "Turkish cypriot president " or "TRNC" .
TRNC does exist. You can visit and see it with your own eyes if you dont beleive. When the greek cypriots come to claim their properties in varosha even they will have to accept trnc citizenship.

Greek Cypriots should also claim all the properties and land they have lost in the rest of Cyprus, they still have the title deeds. Turkey is preventing all Cypriots from having a prosperous european future together.

Un Security Council Resolutions 550, 551 and 789 clearly state that Famagusta and Varosha should be given to the control of the UN. The UN would then return the town to it's rightful owners.

It was a Venetian island before the Ottoman’s took control. Later on the Ottomans loaned the island to the British Empire and when the British Empire fell they annexed Cyprus. So whilst Turkish Cypriots weren’t the majority they did own the island for a while.
The initial situation with Cyprus was to do with the ethnic cleansing of the Turkish Cypriot community hence why we’re in this mess.
Furthermore, the Greek Cypriot community have it good as of now, if a federal solution was to be implemented they’d loose out big time. House prices would rise for the north whilst falling in the south to offset it. The north would gain equal or near equal representation in government which would make legislation harder to pass. And the south would be aiding the north as it’s not as developed as the south. Plus you have extremists who still hate one another through years of brainwashing. But there’s a minority that wants peace. Someone will always be unhappy with the outcome, if any…

When Erdogan of Turkey ''visited'' occupied Varosha, he and the Turkish backed regime in the north, renamed Kennedy Avenue in Varosha to ''Semih Sancar Avenue''. Sancar was Turkey's chief of general during which the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus was launched in 1974. How shameful and discusting is that? It was named to honour the late American President John F Kennedy. This is just another poke in the eye to the rest of the world which does not recognise the legality of the Turkish invasion and it's occupying of lands it took in those actions.

@Xikander I It is not a matter of genetics. It is a matter of culture and believing in the values of Democracy Liberty Freedom of speech and human rights. Turkey has a very poor record on all of these. If there was another country like Spain Italy or France the Cyprus problem would have been solved ages ago as in Northern Ireland for example. It is Ankara exploiting nationalism which goes very well down in the Turkish population.

Their role was to try and put the govt back not invade and stay and flood the occupied areas with turkish nationals to change the demographic making the TC even more of a minority.
