This is the last NCS release in 2022 , which was the year, where a lot of things happened.
War in Ukraine, death of United Kingdom's Queen, Qatar world cup and a lot more.
2022 was also a big year of comebacks, EH!DE & Tetrix Bass comeback after 9 years, Syntact & Stahl comeback after 7 and Johnning after 3.
The last release of 2022 is beautiful and perfectly describes the intensify of these last 12 months. For these people, who 2022 wasn't the best year, don't worry, because 2023 is waiting on "The Other Side".
This reminds me of their track off of NCS called "Until The End", and I love it!! Great to hear more melodic stuff back on NCS :)

I honestly don’t think this year on NCS could come to an end in any better way… ROY KNOX, CRVN and melodic drumstep. The hype for this song was so deserved.
This year, I returned to listening to music after 6-7 years, when my favourite song was Savannah by Diviners. Since my return, I’ve rediscovered so many new and nostalgic songs, creating a spotify playlist of over 1000 songs, half of which are NCS.
Over this period of time, I’ve noticed that NCS has unfortunately taken a downfall in popularity. It’s as if all the releases get a tenth of the views they would’ve gotten 6 years ago. This is truly sad, yet I believe it can be resolved. 2020 seems to have been a bad year for NCS, but the following year was a statistical improvement. In 2021, animated backgrounds were in almost every release. Another explanation for the decrease in views this year is the increase in future/bass house releases. Personally, I find that future and bass house lack potential for diversity and can never stand out compared to other tracks. However, this may be a biased observation because future house is my least favourite genre on NCS with the exception of some songs. (Psycho, Victory, etc.)
My conclusion from this comment is that NCS can be revived and it would require a change, maybe more animated backgrounds, more premieres or only accepting entries with a higher chance of being popular. Regardless, I look forward to whatever 2023 may bring.

Not all animated backgrounds and not all static ones. A mix would be great
NCS defined an era of youtube videos back in 2015 to 2017 with their background music. that would be pretty impossible to replicate. Songs like Fade, On & On, Heroes Tonight, Invincible, etc. were so unique and good with amazing, one of a kind artists behind them. but times change, and NCS is still doing pretty good, people just aren't using the new songs as much
I don't think future bass hinders growth, as much top releases are future bass, but with future house maybe. Melodic music tends to be more welcoming to blowing up the song rather then grindy and maybe funky music, which might sounds cool to some but not to a lot of other people who may not listen to the genre. This is why prog. house is dominant in the top NCS releases, it's because it's melodic. People's first listen really just pays attention to the drop and the melody after all.
