nice video...the quality on the bows are amazing cant even tell they are stocked not a nick on the fins...tumbs up for the ones who mange the lakes and fish farmer with quality fish..
@@Test-ct9tv these fish grow naturally in the lake after stocking at the Fry Stage with an average size of about 1.5 grams. Very tiny. These are not tank raised fish that are recently stocked. They've grown to these sizes from 1.5 grams in the lake over several years. That's why they are in perfect condition.
Hi Dr., has your passion for fishing ever made it difficult to pursue medicine? I'm currently an undergrad in kinesiology trying to go on a similar path, yet my love for the outdoors has made it nearly impossible to fully commit to the career.
I am a medical doctor already. I'm not pursuing medicine at this time. I'm on auto pilot. So I work when I'm working... and I have chunks of time off to fish. I work as a Hospitalist. I do not have a clinic. It is basically shift work. So, there are no or minimal responsibilities when I am off. If you are already struggling to balance your career and life then maybe a demanding career is not for you. Medical school and residency owns your life for 7 plus years of the best years of your life. It's a big investment. During this time, I did not fish as much.
@@TheFishingDoctorsAdventures Thank you for the message, Doctor. The Ontario medical school requirements have just been out of this world in recent years and it definitely isn't for everyone. I hope that one day I can find a balance as you have done. Tight lines.
@aquavasculature i know some people who did kinesiology... maybe you would prefer a career in Physiotherapy. You will likely need to earn a living somehow unless you are independently wealthy. Consider your time per dollar back investment in a career. There are many things you can do to make money. If you are not drawn to one thing than pocket something that gives you good bang for your hour. Trades pay well too and will only become more lucrative with time. They are not fixed income if you own your business. In health care we are kind of fixed by the government at a certain rate. Something to consider with rapid inflation.
And there goes that lake. Why post obvious scenery of a smaller waterbody and bonk your 5 for all ice fisherman to see? 22k subscribers, look in the mirror and ask yourself if if was a smart decision to post?
Yes, 100% smart decision. Do you think this is my first post? I've been posting videos for many years on many lakes. If you recognize it, that means you are already aware that it exists. So I haven't shared anything with you that you dont already know. It's been there for a long time and searchable on the gofishbc.com "where to fish" website. If it's so obvious, I'm not sure why guys ask me, "What lake?" So often. Also, if the limit is 5, then I don't have an issue with keeping a limit of fish. The funny thing is I sent my buddy in there to try last weekend, and he didn't make it past the mile 2 marker. He said he lost control, sliding down a hill, and thought he was going to die. Never made it to the lake and said he's never going to try again. They're just stocked trout. They put more in every year. There are plenty of "no ice fishing lakes" in BC if you want to target those low limit low kill rate lakes. I think your fears are a little unrealistic and would be more reasonable if I was naming and directing people to certain lakes. But I direct people to well-known, easy access, frequently fished spots. Anyways... you watched the video, and you are obviously a consumer of fishing content. The consumers drive content production. If people never watched and commented, I might not be as interested in making content. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment to inspire further content production. If you liked this one, you're going to love the next one! FYI 22K subs mean nothing, historical evidence will show you a lack luster performance with most ice fishing videos... maybe 1K to 3K people will watch and most won't even be resident of BC or Canada. I know the actual impact because I have the actual viewer analytics on every video.
@stevemoore4741... why don't you look urself in the mirror?? I won't ever go on that lake in the winter. I find it entertaining and informative if I ever take up ice fishing. I found the vid quite informative in terms of ice safety. Jeez, so sad. I'm sure ur the first to brush off any novice fisherman.
What an amazing fishery to be able to produce consistent quality fish. Great video doc
@brianquan7218 thanks, yes it is. Has low stocking numbers, low pressure and the growth rate is phenomenal.
Great video. Great weather. Thanks for the explanations and tips on the ice travel and how to approach a new lake.
@danielgraham4717 thanks for watching. Glad you found it helpful.

Man those are some tanks👍
Thanks! They grow fast out there.
What brand of lure makes those blob lures you speak of?
They are a type of fly used in fly fishing. I tie them myself.
Nice video as always! Do you prefer using the smaller meal worms or jumbos?
@samh3729 thanks, i use whatever the Pet store has. Doesn't really matter to me, I break them to the size I want anyways.
Well, if the lake is inhanst with a hatchery program, why not keep your limit ?
@rodgerminer3202 yes, it is stocked yearly and I did keep a limit!
First ice holla hahaha jum 😮
@justins8391 yes, always excited to get out.
City meets outdoors
The city is no place to live... unfortunately I'm stuck in one with my line of work.

Was this in the Merritt area? Great looking fish!
@quinnmartin8430 yes, it was in the Merritt area.
What do you put on your jaw jacker
@DustyTrailsOutdoors usually small flies or tungsten jigs with bait like shrimp, meal worms and night crawlers.
Unreal video
