It was an option actually! Sherrod Vans of Texas was a company that made bronco IIs with button snap on roofs and a roll bar behind the seat. Apparently you were able to order them through Ford. Unknown how many were made but probably few and likely most are in Texas. My Old Car on yt mentioned them on his video on bronco II
I like the look but just a suggestion that I believe will make it look that much more better if you havent welded those sides of the roll bar. after the obvious clean up the edges that were cut raise and widen the roll cage to atleast the top of the cab if not just a little taller and then run bars from the corner angled down towards the rear to the frame whether you X them or // from the corners is up to you I think would give it better pazazz. just an opinion and suggestion but its your vehicle do with it what you like
i like it and possibly drivable with the locking hubs. i had a '76 f150 repainted ford midnight blue ppg deltron basecoat/clearcoat 9" lift between body & suspension lift kits 390 with new holly 650cfm rebuilt c6 with performance shift kit rebuilt transfer case but stock full time 4wd like the old broncos hard to drive straight down the highway & steering rag joint tore weekly headers/12" glass pack exhaust black limo tint 3 windows sunroof cab visor 38" gumbo mudders on 10x15 aluminum slot wheels terrible on gas sold it because cops would'nt leave me alone something about bumpers to high complaint. basically college pell grant built the truck
A ranger tailgate is a bolt on swap. Think about doing it to mine.
I think that looks GREAT! How did Ford miss this chance for a removable top back in the day?!
Ford DID offer a removable top. It was called the Bronco. The Bronco II just doesn't measure up.
That glass was nearly $1,500.00. Passenger side glass is also nearly $1,500.00 as well.
You're welcome to have the passengers, come get it!
I did that to my 85 Bronco II in 2005... cut the fiberglass hatch too and made it into a tailgate
Looks great. I wanted to do this to my Bronco II. I don't understand why Ford didn't offer this back in the day...
My thoughts exactly!
Are you selling that rear gate?
Good choice not replacing it. They are around the $400 dollar range a pop, used

Love it. Cap the exposed cuts in aluminum and put a turbo. Hit Rausch creek
Thanks, a turbo would explode this thing!

Make a custom tailgate.
Also for future reference the back windows unbolt
86-90 un bolt
84 & 85 are held in with polyurethane

@@slow_restoration can't wait to see whats next 👍👍
Honestly I think it looks better just need to cut the rear tailgate or whatever it's called and weld it on to finish up the look
Thanks, the hatch is fiberglass on these, might do something custom.
@@slow_restoration your welcome and WOW I never knew that and I have own at least one of them
