While physically yea that’s the hardest shot, mentally the open shot has a lot more variability to it, it’s the fact that’s because the fact that it is easier and you have more options is what makes it hard. First you got to calculate what angle, which is a bigger range then someone on you, then there is also the pressure of “I should always be making this shot” that gets to you.

the zone question and dw answer is so meta, i love it. You can easily succumb to thinking, that everything in pro basketball is super advanced and tactical - but in reality a lot of the tactical decision making is made on a coaching level, behind the scenes almost. The day-2-day stuff is practical n simple. So D-wade is pragmatic in his answer, and puts us in the mind of a bball player. Interesting input really. That being said, Im continously amazed how the only real answers to for example miamis 2-2-1 / 2-3 zone in the playoffs was either - pass the ball in the highpost and see what happens or maybe set a screen on the ball on top and see what happens....???
problem was, they were screening in the wrong direction, ideally, youd force the bump rotation vs. 2-3, by pick and rolling towards the middle - not on the top. Also we almost didnt see any off ball screens vs. that zone either.
Pnr to force the bump combined with weakside screens have yet to happen in the NBA on a regular basis. And it´s weird, because they do so much of it in college... a lost art really

He started the Wade’s World Foundation, a community-based charity, and gives regularly to Blood, Water, and the Spirit Ministry, his hometown church in Chicago. (In fact, 10% of his salary goes to the church.) He also donates to Marquette University.😄😄😄😄

The open shot being the harder one instead of contested is pretty accurate for me too. I tend to overthink my shot when it is open most of the time leading to a silly miss. But pulling up a heavy contested one is also a bad shot selection so Imma go with the lightly contested shot where the defender is closing in but you still have enough space to shoot the ball.
