I replaced the rear camera on my '12 Edge a few years ago. The camera works fine but I lost the guidelines. Tried correcting it with Forscan but never got it to take. Short of taking it to Ford for programming, which isn't worth the effort, do you have any suggestions? Car has 229k and I used a new Ford camera.
Scott, have you ever thought about being a teacher? the high school in my town desperately needs an auto shop teacher. Wisconsin has a great retirement system, plus you can get out of libtard illinois.
@@jackbaker9401 @jackbaker9401 thanks for the suggestion. I made sure they were on when I installed the camera and I double checked it after your post. Still no joy. If it gets to bugging me enough maybe I'll try the camera he listed, it's cheap enough.
Nice weather to be working outdoors. This is one job I would feel confidant in tackling. The fragility of the studs could be scary but you gave us plenty of warning to be carful with them. Now all I need is a Ford Edge with an inop camera. Always a please to watch your video's. 👍👍👍
My camera went out on my 14 Explorer Sport. For laughs, I priced a new one at Ford. $539ish cdn. Haha! I got a good one from Amazon for like $100; works great, had great reviews.
Solid repair Scott! It does seem like a lot of work just for the camera, but that’s modern cars. Also, I finally ordered my shirt. It says it’s “in production.”
Don't know if you noticed Scott but your workbench has a far king big hole in it that may even be bigger than the bench. 😱 *Thank you* for the video. Much appreciated! 👍
Our Ford Explorer has been doing this for a few years. Think ours might have a corroded connector. Seems that Explorers like to leak in the tailgate. Just haven’t gotten around to checking it 😬
The ford edge and MKX from this era are actually really reliable, I had a 2009 MKX with 245,000 miles sold it to a friend and bought a 2015 MKX which I now have at 150,000 miles with no issues.
Amenities are great till they break. These options make people lazy to learn to use mirrors. Scott great work as always. Have a great rest of your day. Stay safe and be well.
amazing that I did not but saw another driver park crosswise on a parking space I was lucky realized my error before I completed the maneuver btw new autos have no view out of rear window just like when I towed a travel trailer that's when you want a pull thru parking space.
Great video. I’m having intermittent issue with the camera. Lately mostly not working. When it does work the picture is fine. How can I tell if issue is camera, connection or possibly at gear shift? Thanks for any advice you can give me.
Vehcor I follow your channel all the time you are always so thorough on your repairs. My kind of guy my question is I have a 2017 GMC Denali 1500 and the front camera is not working system not working. Just wondering if you had some quick troubleshooting ideas or where I should look for the problem it keeps showing up on my dash thanks.
Hey Scott! Good evening to you. This has been very informative as per usual. Is Mr Spotty’s driving an Edge now? How has he been handling things since the fire? See you soon. 😊
Having intermittent issue with camera. When it does not work I see same msg you showed at beginning of this video. My wife ordered a new camera and put the project on my honey do list. What other problem do I need to worry about with intermittent issue? 2011 edge
I just replaced the camera in my Father's 2014 Transit Connect a few weeks ago. That plastic trim panel that secures the camera, latch, and license plate light has supports (that mount to the tailgate) that are already cracking off, considering that about 6 years ago the entire thing broke off and I already replaced it with another new OEM part. Not sure if you've seen that problem. I see so much subpar, cheap crap with Fords these days, yuck! But all of the auto manufacturers are like that! The cheapest, lightest materials that do not last!
Transit connects are utter junk. And this is coming from someone that drives a Promaster City. 😂 All the little imported vans are horrible. Chevy, Ram or Ford, you sacrifice reliable for usefulness and economy.
@@vehcor I bought a '17 Transit Connect in '20. The dealer probably got it at auction. It was a former Johnson Controls/Tyco fleet vehicle, upfitted with shelves etc. Must've been a manager's van cuz the shelves were still shiny 😂 I'd always wanted something like it since becoming a cable guy 18 yrs ago, but it sucks ass in the winter, and the torque converter has been shuddering for a while now. I really should try a fluid change ASAP. I regret buying it.
@@vehcor My Father's tastes are questionable at best, and believe it or not, he owned a brand new 2013 TC first that was totaled and then he bought a lightly used 2014 TC after that. Both of them have second row seating and glass, he bought them as a personal vehicle rather than work vehicle. They are not very comfortable vehicles either.
Its been awhile since I took my drivers license test, are you still required to use your mirrors and physically look behind you when reversing, or can you just use a camera and call it a day PASS?

I am a bit dim so would someone tell me why when the car moved forward the camera didn't turn off? The camera in my Toyota always turns off as soon as I take gearbox out of reverse.
Right... All intentional. I mean part availability should be infinite. And when they decide that is not reasonable it is completely unreasonable for back order events to occur as production ends.
11mm or 7/16"? Pretty much the same size, but it depends on the thread on the bolt as to whether it's metric or imperial. Metric bolts don't usually have 11mm heads, mostly 10mm or 12mm, but I did have some 12mm nuts with 18mm heads, that's a 3/8" Whitworth head size. Weird.

I was told of its heritage. I trusted my sources. Maybe we need a 23 and me? 😂
I tought we were going to get a scream when backing up on the drive way .. 😂😅
i know youve run into the lift gate wires break syndrome before as well
Yes, less than one percent of the time. It is a pretty safe bet it is a camera due to the inferior quality.
Even Mr. Spotty could have done that 😂
My friend told me that his Ford truck has low miles, I said they do not get miles put on the odometer on the back of a tow truck!
😂
At least you can get the camera direct from China. Ford tends to put them on backorder a lot. Especially if it’s a part they are discontinuing.
Right... All intentional. I mean part availability should be infinite. And when they decide that is not reasonable it is completely unreasonable for back order events to occur as production ends.
