Paul was one of the greats. Last year, my friend and I met him at a gun show in Western Missouri. Paul was wearing his trademark jacket, and he couldn't have been nicer. Paul Harrell was in a class all his own. He will be missed.
Jealous!
That jacket would have made a great piece of merch.
If the gun community was more like Paul Harrell we'd be so much better off as a community.
Be Like Paul
100%
Amen.
Absolutely.
That's true. Paul was a wonderful ambassador for the 2A community. We would do well to follow his example.
You said it!
My favorite thing someone said about Paul was "He was the Mr. Rodgers of the gun world". Hard to think of a greater compliment. You will be very much missed Paul. Rest peacefully.
He certainly was
I always thought of him as the Bob Ross of the gun world
His channel got 50,000 new subscribers in the last 24 hours. He was the best. RIP Sir.
I'm not crying, you're crying!
Ok, we're all crying this time.
Yes, mr. Kitty, we all are.
His honesty in his videos was unparalleled, and his Meat Target was unbeatable, he was a rock star within the 2A and Gun community. His absence will be deeply felt in this world. I wish I could express more, but I find myself at a loss for words right now.
Paul Harrel was to guns like Bob Ross was to painting 😢
Without the perm.
Barry from Iraq veteran and now Paul ... These 2 taught me soo much ...
2 great men taken too soon. I still think about Barry to this day.
Paul will be missed as much to me as Skeeter Skelton and Elmer Keith . These men taught me a great deal. 4:59
His bed at the range video is one of the most entertaining of all time. His Miami Dade video probably the greatest video of all of guntube.
Barry reminded me so much about a friend of my dad's growing up who was an armorer in the military, professional gunsmith, all-around straight up gun expert and a master reloader who sadly is also gone :/ the dude was like an uncle.
They sure did. I still miss Barry. Para-social relationships are for real. I am really sad. He was a great man.
Paul was preparing us all along... Now we will have to be our own judge. 🥺😢😞
^5!
:-)
He was preparing us all along...and I won't try this at home he was what you would call a professional.
@@scottkoerner4622 except in his farewell video. He wasn't an expert.
He was an absolute legend
I've spent the last three Thanksgivings at work, and Paul's "Thanksgiving Specials" made a big difference.
"Poptarts, where a Man belongs!"
I hope that tradition continues, and I REALLY hope he made 1 last one for this year.
Same! I'll miss those.
Yeah, I really don't know what I'll look forward to on Thanksgiving now, oh and of course his fun Halloween specials, also a hoot.
I cried when he did when he ate that MRE Poptart. I'll keep supporting his brother with views. He's keeping the spirit alive.
A few months ago, one of my coworkers mentioned that the way I carry myself and speak to customers reminds him a lot of Paul. Honestly one of the best compliments I've gotten.
Paul was very scientific in his approach and taught me a whole lot. Thanks, Paul!
He was like the Bill Nye of guns. Definitely will miss him, and when I get the chance binge watch a bunch of his videos
I'm not a gun guy. I don't own a gun. I live in Maine and used to work at L. L. Bean, so I get hunting, but guns designed for other uses...well, not my jam.
But, I discovered Paul's videos one night surfing around on the internets, and was a big fan. I admired his intelligence, his use of analytics and the way he could tie those analytics into something practical. I admired his very dry sense of humor and the granularity of his curiosity.
And, most of all, I admired what a kick-ass teacher he was. It was always about his subject, and only about him when that was in service of his subject. God he was good.
And now, I get to admire the sanity he brought to his own death, and the way he shared information - not maudlin, not sentimental, respecting the fact that we were not family, but fans. An adult all the way in a world of too many children pretending to be grown up.
Bye Paul, and thanks.
Beautiful words, very respectful. Thank you.
That was so very well said. You speak for a great many of us. Thank you.
Paul Harrel taught Chuck Norris how to shoot.
Paul was my all time favorite! I was heartbroken when I saw it was posted he had passed. He is missed and will continue to be.
Cancer sucks....RIP Paul.
It only have to hit the right people but it looks like it often take the wrong the good ones!
Dead pan fun right to the last with that “l’m Dead” title. Makes me cry. What a unique man.
I remembered when he pulled out all of his medals and trophys, that just kept coming out all to make a point that he knows what he was talking about he will be missed!
I actually got dust in my eye when I heard the news. A true legend. You said it right, We've lost one of the best.
Thank you, Yankee, for taking the time to commemorate Paul Harrell. He will be missed by all of us.
Paul Harrell was a great teacher, and an even better man. We are blessed to have learned from him. He will be missed.
So many channels made fun of other channels not one dared to poke fun at Paul harrell.
There were a few who would slander him, but those always turned out to be the scumbag channels that exploit 2A advocates
@@HeavyJay1421 one did. He got an hour long shame video and a shame mention in his last video.
@@mandolinman2006 That guy wasn't poking fun at Paul. He was being wrong in the worst way.
Johny B did make fun of Paul. It was the good kind of fun. Merch came out of that deal. It was also the lighter side of the community because it came from respect.
Thank you, Yankee Marshal for this video. We have lost Paul Harrell, but his channel is still on. His brother is taking it over. He's trying his best to keep Paul's videos and reviews going while adding his own new content.
Roy is doing a fine job.
Paul will always be remembered for his honest and to the point style of presenting his channel. All based on proven fact backed up with real world experience. Yes he had honour, values, outlook, and sense of humour of a few years ago. Because that was who he was. He never had any need to change or pander to changes in society. Not for him was the woke, I identify as, or unicorn feathers mentality. Or whatever your personal or political affiliations. Especially if he disagreed with them. He would so unlike many on either side of politics or beliefs. Stand for the rights of the freedom to express those views in open forum. Even when faced with fairy dust totally wrong anti 2A arguments. He would provide accurate and factual information. When they scream him down. “Well I tried” Paul is out of pain. However his legacy will live on. Within the hearts and minds of all the lives he touched. Paul stand down your duty is over. Rest in peace brother.
He is beyond reproach . Well missed well respected.
He was most definitely what-you-call a professional. One word that comes to mind when I think of his living legacy, is _steadfast._
I know Paul made me a better gun owner. To say we'll miss him is a huge understatement.
I really liked Paul's holiday stuff. It was always tongue in cheek and in the spirit of whatever the holiday was. I loved those.
RIP Paul Harrell. The GOAT.
Only Paul would have the dedication to pre record his death notice and apologize for dying.
We've lost an absolute legend in Paul Harrell RIP. ❤
When I had my stroke, I was having trouble using my right hand and walking and seeing. I sat at my reloading bench for hours on end for 3 months, retraining my brain to use my right hand to reload ammo. I watched all of Paul videos while I sat there, and I was like I am going to do it. I am going to get better and go out and shoot and enjoy my gun again. I made a full recovery from my stroke and I regained all of my right fine motor skills, and walk and see just fine. It is really sad what happened to him. I am really going to miss him.
Thank you, Yankee Marshal. for your tribute to Paul Harrell. I wonder if PopTart sales will get a boost. To paraphrase Warren Zevon's advice, "Enjoy every PopTart."
We almost lost Kentucky ballistics to a shady 50 cal
Thank you for the kind words.RIP Paul
I'd like to say there will be another like him but man......dude left some shoes to fill....
Thanks for your memorial, Yankee Marshal. 👍
Eloquent, refined, articulate, thorough, informative, inspiring, intelligent, and a great advocate for the shooting community.
After we lost Mel Tappan and Col Jeff Cooper I never thought we would ever find such a wise, informative and intelligent gun advocacy supporter and producer.
One of the great Thank You's I think the TH-cam gun community gave was him was the rally to give the 1 Million Subscribers. It was very clearly a community effort to him and now even if they came late a 1 Million+ will know the greatness of Paul Harrell and his contribution to the gun community.
Let’s all bow our heads and pray that the great Paul recorded this year’s Thanksgiving special early so we can have it posthumously.
I wouldn't bet on that, but I wouldn't be surprised if his crew did a cookout in his honor and kept the special going in some way.
@@BlueTrane2028 Now that sounds like a great idea.
RIP Paul Harrell. 🙏
His Thanksgiving specials for the lonely people without families was a great service to those who are in a dark place on that Holiday. I hope to pay it forward locally.
Great tribute Yankee. I got to meet Paul at a gun show in Oregon about 5 years ago. Just like you said, he was the same guy in person that you saw in his videos. He was one of a kind.
Got to admit that I shed a tear when I saw Paul’s video yesterday. I didn’t even know he was sick. I loved his ballistic videos. Love you Paul, you too Yankee (you got me into revolvers)
The last few months has been a series of losses for the gun community. Beside Paul Harrell, one of my other favorites Mike "Duke" Venturino passed away in June. He was one of the great gun writers of the last 40 years, covering reloading, bullet casting, old revolvers (Colts Single Actions were some of his favorites), and even collectable war surplus guns. His articles were down to earth, very entertaining, informative, and his wife, Yvonne's accompanying photography just added to a great experience. He was a humble man like Paul Harrell, well loved and respected in gun community.
I had a chance to meet Paul one time, but there were so many fans crowding his table, that I just let them all have their fun.
When my friend and I met him, he was at a small Lions Club gun show. It seemed like everybody had a chance to speak with him.
Thank you, YM, for letting people like me know about him. Thanks to you, I got to watch him for the last six years.
His dry sense of humor was the best....
As Paul's brother says, "He is where a man belongs." God bless you Paul, you made me smile in some dark times.
Still can't believe he's gone, along with alot of other people i actually knew and loved. Life sucks sometimes, Rest in paradise Paul.
I loved his videos. God bless to him and his family. He taught me a lot.
You yankee, and Paul were my first two TH-cam gun finds. I'll Miss his teaching style his down to earth wisdom and his humor. TH-cam is not the same for me without him
Just saw his video. This hurts. I just lost my mother to cancer on easter Sunday and she meant the world to me. Just having trouble to even keep going with her gone. And now Paul too. Man this is horrible 😢😔🙏🏻
I hear you. From 2000-2013, four of my friends lost parents to cancer. All were in their 50's and 60's at the time.
I felt that connection to his channel when I got my first gun. I couldn't decide between a Glock & Smith & Wesson. Then I chose the one that felt better in my hand. Same day, I get home and saw a video of his where he said 'this hand fits my hand better' and I smiled to myself. It wasn't some Tacti-tard or ballistics nerd's info on the gun. It was just simple reasoning.
Feels a bit odd to click the 'thumbs up' on his farewell video
Everyone needs to have a pop tart for Paul.
Legends live forever!
I watched his Paul's pre recorded goodbye video this morning. Very sad to see him go, but he'll be alive in my memories as long as I'm alive.
Thanks for your excellent summation of Paul Harrell's legacy. Very well said!
He was one of the best of us. Damn right Yankee. Good on you for tipping your hat to Paul. I'm thankful his suffering is over. And yes, his videos live on. Everyone should have a good carry load in their EDC because Paul showed you what it would do on a meat target, in almost every barrel length you could choose
Amazing guy. I am thankful for all the amazing work he did and for all that I learned from him.
Ya' did good, Mr. Harrell. Rest easy, man. Rest easy.
Paul was one of a kind . I appreciated the quality of his content and his sense of humor . Rest in Peace Paul
I will always look at a bag of ribs and oranges as a meat target! We will miss you Paul!
Don't forget the leather couch skin and pork steak pectorals.
You mentioning him is why i subscribed thank you for that
Yankee is right about how his personality rubbed off on us. During a difficult time, I couldn't sleep and wasn't looking forward to the next day. To cope, I would watch his Thanksgiving videos, and always feel asleep by the end of them. Not because he was boring, but because he radiated this feeling of peace, just by cooking. Thank you Paul Harrell.
RIP Paul...we'll miss you!
I watched the video he Recorded for release on his channel.
that was pretty wild the way he handled that.
"Don't try this at home"
A true legend.
It was wild but definitely Paul.
Typical Paul. A life well lived, RIP Sir.
Such a kind and thoughtful man. Always informative, always humble and always with a dry wit. Appreciate him for all he has shared and taught us. Thank you Paul… rest in eternal peace.
Already miss Paul, been watching him since I was a kid and I learned a lot from him. Learned a lot even when it was about going on in daily life.
Sure gonna miss him.
Paul was one of the TH-cam pioneers, and we all are going to miss him.
Paul will be greatly missed. I'm glad to see Roy and his editor are going to keep the channel alive.
I couldn’t give two shits about another cop’s perspective channel.
Paul was an honest man. He said the channel was always meant for entertainment. He started the channel as a goof. He did his final outro video giving a friendly reminder to everyone that big FU to Caleb Giddings.
Barry from Iraqveteran8888 and Paul are the two saddest gun community losses
Mr. Holster, a long-distance friend of Lionquest Fitness (w/Greg Newton), also died. He was a fine fellow who told good stories.
Poptarts out for Paul
Man it's really to bad to see anyone struggle and die and this guy was great.
Our feelings from Brazil
RIP Paul Harrell , we learned a lot from you, This is the way of life, no one is immortal
Paul will be missed by all!
RIP sir! ❤❤❤
I actually discovered his channel because of that satirical video you made. It’s what made me check out his channel.
I never had the privilege to meet him, but I feel like I've lost a good friend. I learned something from every one of his videos. Godspeed, Paul.
True hero
YankeeMarshall, you’re one of the greats. No one covers revolvers like you do. No one 🫡
RIP Paul Harrell 🙏
Will miss the meat target testing and his Shatneresque way of speaking. RIP Paul.
Legend! Rest In Peace!
i just seen a vid today they posted of him that he wasnt doing well. sad to hear he past. he was very good at making vids. calm, knowledgeable, refreshing compared to a lot of others.
It was his humbleness that made him who he was. RIP Paul
He had great stories. RIP Paul.
Nice testament YM. Respectful and humorous. Stay well, you're one of the "good ones."
Ah hell. No, I hadn’t heard yet. This is truly sad to hear.
I actually found Paul's channel because of your channel and was a fan from watching the video you and he went back-and-forth on. He made a huge impact to many people's lives, myself included, and he will be missed.
Rest in peace Paul Harrell.
rest in peace, Paul.
Rest in peace Sir,you definitely crossed that color line for me ,caught my eye years ago been stopping by to watch your videos, from another loyal member and friend we are going to really miss you.
SEMPER FI & HAPPY TRAILS Paul!
I absolutely agree with you...Paul was one of the best!
One of the first and one of the greats on YT.
Paul was and still is amazing! I loved his content. The farewell video he recorded prior to his passing was sad. I hope people dont try to steal his content now that he has passed. I really hope his brother contuinues the channel as best he can and in time after grieving. He was my favorite to watch. the worst part about his stuff was the length and amount of knowledge sometimes youd have to rewatch or rewind to catch all the info. A great content creator. I hope he was as great of a person as he appeared to be. I never met him and sadly never will now. He will be greatly missed. RIP PAUL HARRELL
