I'm a 62 year-old life-long car guy who has had many muscle cars and still does...but I'm not a Shelby guy. Always liked them, remember when they came out (Dad had a '66 Mustang back then) but I could have watched another hour or two of this 'deep dive' stuff. Fascinating content, and as always, Dennis and his team are a class act and real pros. Love it. Keep 'em coming, Sirs!

Dennis? My dad moved to Ontario Canada in '65 and he was a Mopar man but his good buddy Dave was a Ford man. So they went to Oakville's Ford headquarters which is very close to town called Mississauga here. They took some pictures of that white Shelby. I'll contact Dave to see if he still has them. He's now 75 years of age. Fingers crossed.

Jimbo's 939 "Blue Lady" car did survive his driving. It was last documented alive and for sale on 10/13/71 in LA Times/ owned by Ray Wolff (former GM at Shelby) in Inglewood CA ( Ray's Hi-Performance)
The car was registered to James Douglas Morrison C/O Johnson-Harband on 4/30/69
I do think this car is out there but I don't think the Shelby apron VIN will do any good as Jim had multiple collisions in this car
Dennis, I think if you can find the Ford VIN you will have some luck.
As both a Doors fan and a Ford fan, I wish you luck Sir.

    • @stude1953
      @stude1953 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Yep that's Jim's "Blue Lady". There's a bunch of pics of it still on the internet and Jim did a short film with it in it. A lady in Phoenix says she has it and sold the registration card to it on eBay a few years ago. Good luck Dennis on finding it.

Hmm I love Dennis's videos but I'm curious why he doesn't mention WHY he is looking for that car, LOL. The Morrison car would be worth ten times what a regular GT500 is worth. 50K is nothing when you stand to make a few mill. Hopefully the person who rightfully owns that car (if it still exists) gets paid properly for it - by Dennis or anyone else.

Yip I'm thinking money, Of course It will take a lot of money and personal connections to find and buy this one, Dennis apparently has both. I'm just glad someone with the realistic ability to find it is on the hunt. I first learned about the Blue Lady in the 1981 book "No One Here Gets Out Alive" so this is the Holy Grail for a Doors fan like me, and thus far, a 42 year wait.

I would assume whoever knows the details about the blue lady may fear speaking up for the legal reprimand that possibly could come from having information of a stolen car. It’s shame because we all want to know and I’m sure there is a legal way to get the title after all these years. I would like to know the real story of who picked it up after it was crashed that night and what they did with it but nobody will want to give those details. Did it go live a life south of the border? It would be so cool to know.

What an absolutely superb and enlightening video this is - I was hooked from start to finish. When car guys get together and chew the fat all manner of nuggets reveal themselves and this is no exception. Over here in Blighty (England!) Mustangs are very popular of course, but are rarely actually seen on the roads and to me they are still just as exotic as any of the sought after European cars you can think of. A Genuine Shelby is way out of my budget (as is a 'standard' 67 or '68 Fastback) but it's a real joy to see them here on your channel Dennis. Keep on finding them and keep on filming them!

#DennisCollins, just started watching this episode. How about this Shelby. In the crane cam catalog of 1968 on the cover was a 1968 Shelby, dark green I believe if my memory is right was a GT 350, might have been a KR. That car was special. Carol Shelby had it in California and it clocked at 161 on a round tract. I know the guy that probably still owns that cat. I worked with him in Ohio. It only had 3800 Mike's on it the early 80s. He trailered it. If that is the car shown in the beginning of thus episode I would bet that he still owns it.

      Between: 2 objects
      Among: 2 or more objects
I heard Chris Christie make the same grammatical error in the last GOP debate when he said "between the 4 of us". I know I will get in trouble for this correction... English in America tends to be spoken with loose tolerances. Those of us who had the fortune (or misfortune) to be taught the language by Englishmen from England still have knots on our heads from being beaten there with 1 meter rulers each time the teacher thought we made a grammatical error. Forty-five years later, I have vivid memories of the brown-toothed, mustachioed "Mr. H", bellowing- "Rubbish! American English!", as he brought down the full force of a ruler on the head of some poor soul, who had written something in his English composition, that he deemed incorrect. Most of those African students learned that "American English" from the popular novels of the time, such as "No orchids for Mrs. Blandish". The author of those novels was James Hadley Chase, an Englishman who had never been to America a day in his life, who would go to the library, research the geography of a town in America, and write a crime thriller based in and on it, in what he thought was American English!!!!! Hahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa..
Either way, I apologise for my impudence, and if you should choose to take umbrage and chastise me, I humbly accept my punishment...

I remember as a young lad that I had a line on a blue 68 Shelby GT500. The owner had passed away at a young age and his widow had just parked it in storage. I got a chance to talk to her one day and asked if she would consider selling and she said she would. The car had 6000 miles on it and I didn’t have the cash to just pay for it so I visited my banker for a loan. He said not a problem but you’ll need a co-signer before we can go forward with this. I was 18 and my dad would of been the only guy that could of backed me on a loan but he just thought it had a little to much power for a young lad. I’ve never forgotten that car !!

My dads favorite saying - “Too much power for your little brain” . I was sixteen in 1970 at the height of muscle car production. The car that I wanted - Pontiac GTO Judge with Ram air. The car dad chose and agreed to co-sign for - Chevy 4 door Impala with a 327 225 hp and power glide transmission. Missed my window…next car was a Honda Civic w 1200 cc 4 banger bought to survive the gas crunch of 73/74. I did manage to buy a Yamaha RD 350 that would outrun all the muscle cars with 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and a quarter mile time of 12.8 seconds. That along with a 70 mph Checkmate speedboat with a 135 Mercury satisfied my need for speed. 😎

You're correct. The '67 Shelby GT had more 'running changes' than any sane person can keep track of. With the PR/engineering car in the video, it most certainly 'evolved'. We tried to point out some of those running changes on the other cars, which do correlate to their completion dates by Shelby American.

Chrisman was very in tight w Ford then, shoehorning one of the first Fran Hernandez-supplied Factory Ford 427s into that car, arguably considered the 'first Funny Car'. Chrisman added those same script 'Supercharged' badges to the front fenders.. never had seen another pair on a similar-era Performance Ford... can't add a link or photo here but check that out. They sure do love that Larry Bird guy there, whoever THAT is? Haha.
Currently, some good friends and I are working on a '92 Chevrolet S-10 that I bought in '94 when I was a senior in high school, my first vehicle, ever. I drove it to work up there and back from Kentucky every week. We're going to restore it with some mild modifications, a little modernization, and some handicap accessibility. Wish us luck. The "Loss of Sale" invoice seems to elude to Ford selling the car to a Ford employee at a considerable discount from how Shelby American valued the fixed asset. Thus the "loss" is the difference between the sale price to the employee and the value listed on the Shelby American fixed asset (company car) ledgers.
