Aasai means desire. The film tells about the desire of Prakashraj towards his sister-in-law Suvalakshmi. He even goes to the extent of murdering his wife. He leaves no stone unturned to attain her. He creates a rift between her and her heartthrob Ajith Kumar. He gains the confidence of his father-in-law. How Ajith saves his lover from Prakashraj's clutches is the rest of the narration.

Unintended comedy at 3:19 when Jeeva says “nee chor than daa (நீ சோறு தான் டா)" to the Sikh man. Translation from Tamil: “You are just a rice dish, my little dude!” It sounds weird and ridiculous in both Tamil and English, if you don’t realize he is combining Hindi with Tamil. “Chor” in Hindi means “thief,” while the same word “chor” in tamil (சோறு) means food made of rice. So when you combine Tamil with Hindi, you understand his true intent to say “you are just a thief my little dude.”
Bottom line, this is an unintended comedy in a very serious scene from the scriptwriter, or the scriptwriter is just brilliant to think of this. I wonder how many people laughed when Jeeva yelled a bizarre comedy insult "nee chor than daa!" to the Sikh guy, thereby calling him a “rice dish?”
