Hi AJ! Please try this recipe if you ever get a chance. It works with just about any fish. I'm very sure you'll love it! Thank you for watching the video! Thank you for your kind words my friend!
My what big bluegill you have. The better to make bluegill salad with my dear said the big bad wolf. You are the big bad bluegill catcher. Getting back to the basics can be quite rewarding. I sure do remember Uncle Steve. Your facial expressions when Miss Lu Lu is telling you how much she likes it are priceless 😊 Awesome job on that salad my friend looking mighty fine
Hi Mike! Hahaha! Even the big bad wolf would agree that these bluegill are BIG! I was lucky to find that spot between the two water lily stands. I'm shocked that you and so many others remember Uncle Steve! He was sure fun to watch, and his shows were educational. Ms. Lulu can flatter me like no one else when she compliments my food! LOL! This recipe was originally for halibut, so you know it would be great with catfish too. The bluegill were fabulous in it! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Donna! I'm always honored to see you! This was originally a recipe for halibut salad, but it worked great for bluegill! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Always happy to watch your videos my friend ... Very interesting , i love this one. Very peaceful video . Thanks a lot my friend Hello from PARIS 💖💖🍚🍄💖🍚😍🍄💖🍚🍎
Hi Dakota! Bluegill are small fish, for sure. But for small fish, these bluegill were huge, if you know what I mean! 😁 Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Wow those were some beautiful Bluegill Mr Juanelo ! Looks like they appreciated those wax worms ! I like to think that the Fish who jumped ship is the same one who slipped off the stringer in a previous episode! He's the Houdini of Lake Ketchabigwon! That dish looked scrumptious! Best of all , you Finally know what Miss Lulus' heart is saying ....err, kind of ..! Thank You for a wonderful show !
Hi Catyear! I might have to use wax worms more often! I think they liked them more than my usual mealworms. I never thought of that; but yes, that escapee fish was probably the same one from a couple of weeks ago, Houdini the Magnificent! But now I know where he likes to hang out, and I'm gunning for him! Oh, this bluegill salad (original recipe was halibut) turned out better than I could have hoped for. We loved it! Ms. Lulu didn't show her most romantic side this week, with her "thump, thump" answer, but I'll keep trying to bring it out! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my dear friend! All the best to you and yours!
Hi Tom! The bluegill fishing was really great this day! That tune is a classical work called "Dance of the Hours." But all older people remember it as a funny song called "Camp Granada" from 1963. Check out the lyrics for a good laugh, or maybe you're old enough to know them already? Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Excellent! Your bluegill salad and toast points were on point! I love the slip bobber combination for panfish, and like to use it when introducing kids to fishing. They get so excited watching the bobber go under. All the best.
Hi Johnny! I stole the recipe from one for halibut salad. It worked great with bluegill! There's no denying it, bobber fishing is exciting! Watching that bobber go under is a thrill for kids and adults alike! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
I am glad you reviewed the slip bobber. Thanks. I will try the rig again. At 3:30, well, that was a nice big bluegill. Sorry for the loss. Still, a nice productive day out there. OMG !!!! I can't wait to try because.... I hate tuna !!!! My mom and sisters would love that !!!! Thanks for sharing !!!
Hi TTRR! The slip bobber worked! It was just the ticket today. Now I don't feel too bad for losing the bluegill because a few of those I caught later were very nearly as big. This bluegill salad is way, way better than tuna salad! It's even better than chicken salad! I was very lucky to find this recipe! You would love it! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Oh Miss Lulu,, Thump Thump. You are funny. You had a great day fishing John. Wow the bluegill salad sure looked amazing. Miss Lulu definitely enjoyed it. The whole plate set up was wonderful. Nice fresh tomatoes. Yummy. I could have eaten the tray full of toast points. LOL. Can’t believe Preseason Football came so fast. When my boys play it causes a huge traffic jam. Poor Chris has a terrible commute when they play week nights. That was a perfect game night meal. Hugs and Love to you both.
Hi Brenda! The bluegill fishing was super this day. Bluegill are supposed to be small fish, but these were giants! What's interesting is that I stole the recipe from one for halibut, and it worked! In fact the bluegill salad was better than tuna salad, and as good as any chicken salad we've had. What's good about dishes like these is that you can make them ahead of time and keep them in the fridge. So when friends (or Ms. Lulu) show up, there is no fussing! Our Brownies look good this year, not quite as good as your Pats, but we're getting there! LOL! Traffic around the stadium is horrendous! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my dear friend! We are keeping you in our thoughts every day! All the best to you and Chris!
Hi TL! I sure hope you get some bluegill to try this recipe! It was originally for halibut, but wow, does it work great with bluegill! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend! Good luck fishing!
Hi Gary! Through the magic of video editing, fishing and cooking can be made to look easy as a breeze! LOL! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Scott! Please try this recipe. I adapted it from a halibut salad recipe. It's a real winner! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend! REPL
Beautiful demonstration of the slip stopper bobber. Wonderful stringer load of bluegill! That salad looked gorgeous, I know it tasted even better, Juanelo. Awesomely beautifully plated! Thump-thump! :)
Hi John! I rarely catch bluegill this big. But I found them hiding between those two water lily stands. This was originally a halibut salad recipe. I must say it was fabulous with bluegill! "Thump, thump..." she doesn't say the most romantic things, does she?😆 Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my tocayo! All the best to you and yours down there at the Hacienda!
@@Juanelo1946 Thanks for the reply Mi Tocayo! I wish I could get bluegill like you do and make your recipe~ looked so good! Your delivery was spot-on and magazine perfect. My mouth was watering as you made it- I have to go bluegill fishing soon! Miss Lulu Cheeks is the most fascinating lady on the TH-cam. You are lucky to have her as a friend, and neighbor. Keep wooing her, Juanelo it is only a matter of time!
Oh how I wish you could catch a nice mess of bluegill! Of course, any mild fish would work great with this salad. It's uniquely yummy due to the the mayo, onions, cilantro, lime, and dijon. I can't wait to make it again! I am so lucky to have Ms. Lulu as my friend and neighbor! Not everyone can boast of being friends with such a celeb! 😜 And someday she'll be my wife! Thanks so much again mi tocayo!!!
Hi Ron! I can still almost feel the heat from that flare up! LOL! HELP! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
I MISS THE FISHING VIDEOS OF UNCLE STEVEN SO NICE I STILL WATCH HIS CHANNEL AND VIDEOS , HE DOES NOT FISH , BUT TALKS ABOUT OTHER THINGS THAT IS ONE TASTY AND DELICIOUS SALAD YOU HAVE PREPARE SO GOOD I THINK DEAR MISS CHEEKS HEART BEATS FOR YOU , THAT IS TRUE LOVE BEST WISHES DEAR SWEET PEOPLE AND A HAPPY WEEK
Hi Lucy! You remember Uncle Steve too! Yay! I didn't know he has a channel, other than his fishing channel. That one seemed to end over 3 years ago. I'll look for it. This was originally a halibut salad recipe, but I think bluegill are at least as delicious! One day Ms. Lulu will tell me what her heart really says! I can feel the love! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend! All the best to you and yours!
I remember that tune..."hello Mudder, hello Fadder, here i am, at camp ??? (Rhymes with Fadder)...it is very entertaing, the councilors say we'll have some fun if it stops raining...etc... Keep up the great work
Hi Brad! LOL! Yes! You got it! You know the words! "Camp Granada!" LOL! I couldn't stop singing the lyrics while I was editing this video. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Angela! It's good to know that you remember Uncle Steve! He taught me how to retrieve live bait with a bobber! For bluegills, they were very large indeed! The bluegill salad turned out yummy! I got lucky! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Jerry! Aww, man, that is so cool! Now I appreciate Uncle Steve even more. Thank you for watching the video! Thank you for your kind words my friend!
ye caught some good ones...had a sink full... Hey I remember Uncle Steve! Love to eat some of that salad....gonna make Ms. Lulu whats aware in her heart are you?! Crumbling cottage and cheerfully chomp...boy you crack anybody up! Take care Juanelo and Ms Lulu!!
Hi Duke! Great to see you old buddy! You watched Uncle Steve too? Great! This bluegill salad beats tuna salad hands down! Ms. Lulu doesn't express what's in her heart in the most romantic words, but I can read between the words, and it's all good for me! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend! Say hi to Mrs. Gitter and The Gang for us!
Hi Steven! My tackle box and bags are a scrambled mess, and my boathouse is filled with broken spin-cast rods and reels, all of which have a goodly amount of spiderwebs and spider poop on them! LOL! Maybe someday though... Thanks for watching my friend!
Hi Stan! Not many of us here remember the old "Camp Granada" song, but you do! LOL! And that commercial too... LOL! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi TM! Yay!!! I'm delighted to hear the news! If you had the patience to pick through the bones, I know you had a delicious treat! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend! All the best to you and yours!!
What a great dish to have while the game is on! I could catch Bluegill all day long they are so fun! Bummer the big one got away, but you know where it lives!
Hi Alaskahuntr! This is the perfect game day dish. You don't have to worry about it turning cold! 😁 That big one got away, but luckily it was quickly replaced by other bluegill just about as big... hard to measure exactly by eyeball. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Rick! The bluegill were huge today! That is highly unusual for August. I plagiarized this recipe from a halibut salad recipe I found online. It turned out to be fabulous! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
That was a lovely fish! You'll get it next time! A really nice haul overall! Thanks so much for all the recipes! Bluegill are so good just scaled and fried, I'd never think of any of these recipes (crispy fried fins, mmm.) I do make a killer bluegill chowder, though! I once spent an hour searching the internet for bass recipes and you'd think no one ever ate one before!
Hi Clinodev! Now I know where that big one lives and I'll be gunning for him! I love frying or grilling whole gutted and scaled bluegill. Unfortunately Ms. Lulu isn't at all fond of the bones and the heads! LOL! So that's why I usually fillet them. I search the internet for tilapia, walleye, catfish, perch, or you name it, and then I adapt it for bass. You would think it's immoral to eat bass, huh? LOL! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Great fishing for monster Bluegill!! To bad the big one got away, but you have proof (video). I too watched Uncle Steve and learned a lot from him. I miss his antics. I’m glad you’re still producing episodes!! Awesome recipe. And it must be nice that you make Ms. Cheeks’ heart thump, thump. I think you should play Selena’s song “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” for her.
Saludos, Miguel! Yes, the big one leaped off the ruler and into the water, but I have proof on video, and what's more, I caught a few bluegill after him that came close in size. I'm so glad that you and so many others here watched Uncle Steve! His shows were fun and educational. This bluegill salad recipe was delightful! It was originally a halibut recipe, but it worked out great. Hahaha, I remember Selena and that great tune! That's what my heart does when Ms. Lulu gives me a hug! 🤪 Thanks so much for watching our videos and thanks for the kind comment mi amigo!
Hi Eric! Yes, it is our own. As it says under the video, "Click on *SHOW* *MORE* for info on the tackle, lake, recipes and much more." Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Steve! I can guarantee that you'll love this recipe! It ought to work great with any kind of fish. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Saludos Jose! Esta ensalada salió deliciosa! Hazla si tienes la oportunidad! Muchísimas gracias por ver mis videos, y también, por las palabras amables amigo!
I must say Cugine you walked into that one!!!😂thump thump❤ thump thump❤😂😂. LOVE IT Ms. Lulu 😄😄😄. You've got me wanting to go catch a few bluegill now cuz, that salad looked delicious!!! And you WILL catch that monster bluegill again, I'm sure. Great video my friend, you both take care, see ya next Sunday. 👍👍Jay.
Hi Jay! "Thump, thump..." Wow, how romantic she is, huh? LOL! Oh, yes, go bluegill fishing if you can! I somehow found out where the big ones had been hiding. And yeah, I know where the escapee likes to hang out, and I'm gunning for him! This was originally a halibut salad recipe, but bluegill salad is even better! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my Cugine! As always, we wish you and yours all the best!
Next time you make anything like a tarter sauce or bluegill salad try using 5 or 6 capers that you mash with a fork. It adds a deep salty taste without using salt. YUM
Hi Michelle! This was originally a halibut recipe. It worked great with bluegill! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
I love the Hello Motha, Hello Fatha :-) I'm kind of nostalgic :-) Hey Juanelo as you know I love to watch you angling :-) You lost the biggest Bluegill of the year? Don't worry I saw it :-) Nice Lilly Pad catches :-) Hurry, get er done before halftime :-) Your French is great :-) Crummy Crumbling Cottage :-) Lulu listens to her heart and hears only thump, thump? Juanelo I guess you will have to try harder to win her heart :-) A "BIG" thumbs up :-) May the both of you have a great week :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
Hi Fred! Hahaha, I would have thought that you were too young to remember that old song! It's called "Camp Granada!" But everyone remembers it by "Hello Motha! (Mudda?)" That was a huge bluegill that jumped out of the boat, but the next one was nearly as big, so I didn't feel too bad. I got that yummy salad finished and in the fridge before the game at 4... It was only a preseason... but I'm obsessed with the Brownies, like you are about the 49ers. I know her heart is saying more than "thump, thump..." I can hear between the thumps! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend! All the best to you and Joi! ROCK ON!!!!
Hi James! I've been wanting to do a bobber fishing video for months. I agree with you that it's a joy to see the bobber go down! I'm glad you remember Uncle Steve! He's been enjoying his retirement for over 3 years now. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Very successful fishing trip so many fish :) that's a lot of lime juice I bet it will add lots of great flavour :) nice and refreshing looking salad John cool idea for guttering the bread great way to get flavour x
Hi Kate! The fish was very good this time out. I stole this recipe for bluegill salad from one for halibut salad. It was terrific! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
A Mr Juanelo good one that was a bunch of big bluegill hated to see the big one get away but you know he's still in the lake the salad looks good half to try that one who one the game well I'll go like always enjoyed the videos and y'all have a blessed week.
Hi Ron! I almost made up for the huge bluegill with the next one I caught. And yes, now I know where he hangs out and I'm gunning for him! Please try this bluegill salad with any mild fish... it's so delish! I had to get dinner prepared by the 4 PM preseason game between the Browns and the Colts. The Brownies won 21 - 18, but the score wasn't too important. I was very interested to see who would play well and who might get cut. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Aw...I'm so sorry about the jumper, but you certainly hit the jackpot today! That salad looked delicious, and your presentation was beautiful! I could tell Miss Lulu genuinely enjoyed her meal. I was beginning to form questions about those lily pads, but you beat me to it. If the fish were that plentiful and hefty, you might say, then Lake Ketchabigwon must be quite healthy. Have you ever marinated your catch? My Mother would fry a mess of herring, then marinate them in vinegar and onion. Pretty tasty. Thank you for another fine video, Juanelo. (:
Hi Stef! The jumper jumped right out of the boat, but as it turned out, it didn't matter much because the very next bluegill was just about as big. This was originally a halibut salad that I stumbled upon. I was torn between making bluegill salad sandwiches or just serving it as a salad. I decided to do a bit of each, and thus I came up with buttery toast points. • My only concern about the water lilies is whether they will some day take over the whole lake! Those I fished near were in 6 feet of water! For now, I think they're doing the fish a lot of good. I've only marinated fish a few times, before grilling them. But I never tried anything close to vinegar and onion. I need to look into this!! It sounds wonderful! I'm making a note of your suggestion! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my dear friend! Lulu says, "Hi, Stef!!!"
Hi Brendan! The lake has always harbored big bluegill, I don't know why. I was lucky to find them out near the middle of the lake next to the water lilies. We loved how the salad turned out. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Lol.. Thump Thump. Recipe look delicious. Looks like it'll make a nice dish for an appetizer. Those fish may have been on bed right there in the middle by those lily pads. Have a blessed evening and week!
Hi Andre!! I really thought she was about to say something profound and touching! LOL, oh well, maybe next time. The spawning season has long past up here, the water where they were was too deep for spawning, and I could tell by their colors that they weren't on their beds. But they seem to be enjoying the cooler deep water near those water lilies for some reason. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Oh boy are some good fishing... That sounded looks really scrumptious I'm going to try this I really like me a salad. Thank you sir another wonderful video God bless you both see you next week
Hi Kelly! Oh I hope you try this recipe! It was originally for halibut, but wow, is it great with bluegill! It sure beats tuna salad! Thanks so much for watching our videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend! Ms. Lulu joins me in wishing you and yours all the best!
Hi Jeff! Ms. Lulu and I concluded that this bluegill salad turned out better than tuna salad AND chicken salad! I was lucky to find this recipe! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Diana! This was originally a recipe for halibut salad. It worked great with bluegill! Thanks so much for watching our videos and thanks for the kind comment my dear friend!
John that was great. Hello Mudda..hello Fadda...here I am at..Camp Grenada! Now that was a golden oldie and I still know the lyrics. You remember..Jeffrey Hardy..there about to organize a searching party hahaha great song. Well Lake K was certainly cooperative and your gills were beautiful. Do you think the one that jumped off the board was close to 10? It was really big. I can't say what they were doing hanging off shore near the pads but make a mental note for next summer. The bluegill salad was really nice and Miss Lulu gave the game day treat a great review. Too bad she decided to get her literal on...thump thump! Keep catching meals though; she really likes your dishes! Again great show and all the best from your JC fans, Don, Brenda and Lorraine
Hi Don! I'm sure very few viewers know the Camp Granada tune and lyrics like we do! LOL! Yes I remember Jeffrey Hardy! And don't forget Leonard Skinner who got ptomaine poisoning last night after dinner. • I don't think that the escapee was 10 inches, but I'd be anything he was just over 9½". What a beauty! Those water lilies were at their maximum depth there, between 5½ and 6½ feet deep! I went back this weekend, just to quickly test that spot, and caught a few more. It's a real "honey hole." • Wow, I was lucky to find this bluegill (originally halibut) salad recipe. We liked it better than tuna or chicken salad! But Ms. Lulu doesn't seem to be as romantic as I am... "thump, thump?" I need to work on her some. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend! Lulu and I wish you, Brenda, and sister, Lorraine, all the best down there in Jefferson City!
Oh! You mean mount the bluegill!! DUH! I have 3 bass mounted, from 5¾ to 6¾ pounds, but I've never had a bluegill mounted. I should do that someday soon, when I catch a really big one! Thanks for clarifying!
Hi Ratdog! Oh yes, I never thought of grapes or pecans! Mmm!! The perfect additions! Hahaha, she isn't the most romantic person, but she never lies! Good point! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi James! I know her heart is saying more than "thump, thump..." I can hear between the thumps! 😉 Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the nice comment my friend!
That big bluegill was a legal catch. Uncle Steve is still uploading on his other channel. I can only give you "Steve AB???" without spaming your channel. It is mostly tech stuff that only he can understand.along with birds, and nature. Hello Mudda! Hello Fada! Never thought I would here that tune again. That was a nice colorful plate with the veggies and blugill salad on toast. Thump Thump. LOL
Hi Steve! Yes, you and so many others here have informed me that Uncle Steve is on another channel now, "SteveAB4EL." I will always miss his fishing videos though. His nature ones were educational! I learned from them too. • Hahaha you remember "Hello Muddah!" What a great old funny song. The music is actually an old classical piece that got repurposed. • The bluegill turned out fabulous in this recipe, which was originally for halibut. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the very nice comment my friend!
Hey Juanelo...!! Glad to see u again, for some reason I wasn’t getting your new videos, well now I have a 2 yr old daughter and she loves going fishing with the “FISHIES” she says , My Sons Alex and Froylan, and my Daughter Allison , we love to watch ur videos alottt, yo bad we live in a desert area and we only have one small pond, can u mention their names when u reply , they’re going to be exited , we’ll keep up the good videos mi AMIGO, and God bless you and Miss Lulu...!!
Hi Chucky! Hahaha! "The fishies!" How cute! Ponds are very abundant there in the dessert, but maybe a big lake is nearby enough. It's my pleasure to say hello to Alex, Froylan and Allison! Hi guys! I'm happy to meet you all! I hope you all get a chance to go fishing soon! Thanks a million to you all for watching my shows! Thanks for the very nice comment! Ms. Lulu is waiving and saying "hello to all of you good kids!"
Oh noooooo ya lost a big one!!! she was a beaute too...dang.. But but but you really made up for it after that with some nice ones eh Juanelo. I love fishing with a bopper...man it's so much fun. That was one beautiful salad Juanelo and thank you for not substituting cilantro for parsley for us Cilantro lovers out here lol. Miss Cheeks heart thumps for you!!! whouuhouuu!!!
Hi Booger!! I didn't feel too bad for losing the big one because, as you noticed, the ones I caught after it were just about as big! I love using the bobber too, and one of the reasons is that it makes for a more interesting video. Don't you think? The viewer gets to watch the bobber go under! I'm so glad I used just cilantro in this! Ms. Lulu and I both love it, and parsley is OK, but it doesn't have half the taste. This was actually a halibut salad recipe, but the bluegill made it great! I can hear between the "thumps" and it tells me Lulu loves me! Lord knows why! 😆 Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my dear friend! Say Hi to Tom for us!! Love and hugs!
Wow you were wearing out the bluegill on this episode. Huge ones to boot. Now you know how that one bluegill got so big. He is pretty slick at escaping. I did notice the knife flip, thank you sir. Cool mike clip. I thought you were gonna go for a kiss there for a minute. Go for it. Thump Thump. Sorry so late.
Hi Anthony! I can't believe that I found such huge bluegill hanging around those two stands of water lilies. Of all the fish to jump out of the boat, it had to be the biggest of the year. But some others I caught after him were nearly as big. My mic clip is priceless, a black paper clip! 😆 But it works! Nah, the mean old producer says no kissing. You know, he wants the romance to drag on and on ad nauseam. She said her heart says "thump, thump" but I heard a lot more between the words and it's all good! The knife flip was for you! You're never late with TH-cam! It's video on demand here! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Blankey! Try this recipe! Bluegill (or any fish) salad like this is awesome! I found a good recipe! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
OH MY!!! That looked fantastic. I have been thinking of a nice dish to make for my 2nd annual opening day lions game. This would fill the ticket. Those were some beautiful bluegills. Those slip bobbers have been getting more popular perch fishing on lake Erie the last few years. That one was a monster & I am gonna say you released it to breed for more monsters. You missed the chance for asking Miss Lulu to mary you. She said her hear was going thump thump. Beating fast for you. Missed opportunity. Keep the great video's coming.
Hi Roger! This would be a great dish to prepare ahead of time for a Lions game! It just gets better in the fridge, and you don't have to worry about it getting cold! 😊 I somehow found where the big bluegills hang out. I had been looking for these big ones in previous weeks but unable to locate them. I never even thought to use slip bobbers for perch on Lake Erie, but heck yeah! You can cast them a mile and the bait will descend 30 feet or more if you want it to. Great tip! I know where that escapee hangs out now, and I'm gunning for him! And if I don't catch him, he'll reproduce more of his kind, as you say! She said "thump, thump... " but I was hoping she'd say something a bit more romantic! LOL! But you know, the scriptwriter won't let me be too direct with Ms. Lulu. He wants to drag the romance out ad nauseam! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
So grandpa here’s the report for today me and my dad and my dad friend went out there and we caught 31 Seabass and three flounder my dad caught a 20 incher and I caught the two biggest Seabass which were a 4 pound and a 3 1/2 pound which was really a good fight so I’m pretty sure we will have tons of fish for this week and tons of recipes of yours to do with them I wish you could’ve been there to see that 4 pound Seabass you would’ve loved it🎣😋
Hi Karson! Wow! What a day of fishing!!! You caught two big sea bass and you all caught some nice flounder! Great job and CONGRATULATIONS!! There are so many great ways to prepare and cook those delicious fish, I wouldn't know which to pick. I know you and your dad will do a great job with them, however you serve them! Good luck!!
Hi Buick! That music was originally a classical piece. It rocketed to popularity because it was used in a hilarious song "Hello Muddah" in 1963. Someone complained that it was too loud in the video. So I'm sorry about that if it was for you too. Thanks so much for watching our videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Another fish story about the one that got away. You have video proof though. Sorry about your loss before the measure. At least you know it's in there. Nice salad.
Hi James! Hahaha the fish are getting away every week it seems! But the video proves it! It was a state record! But the next few were almost as big... I shouldn't be too sad. And I do know where he hangs out! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
those sunfish are HUGE but up were I am I can only dream of getting them due to our wether i also just got back from my 1-week fishing trip and I am excited to try this one out
Hi MC! I hope you caught some really nice fish on your fishing trip. Bluegill are a blast to catch. You don't have to catch bluegill to have fun fishing. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Gordon! Oh I could have tightened the drag a bit, but I just loved the sound of it too much! 😊 Oh yeah, that state record 12 inch bluegill escaped! LOL! But now I know where he hangs out, and I'm gunning for him! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Wow dude you caught some big ones on lake ketchabigone this time love blue gill good eats awesome ,good job, still trying to impress Miss Lulu this ought to do the trick 😉
Hi Vickie! For bluegill, these were huge! I was delighted. I was very lucky to find this recipe, which was originally for halibut salad. It turned out great! Too bad Ms. Lulu is warming up to me, despite what she says. I can feel it! 😁 Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Yummm. That bluegill salad looks delish. I've never tried making anything other than tuna or salmon. This is one I have to try. BTW, I like your oven mitts. :-) Take care.
Hi Believe! We were blown away with this recipe. It was originally for halibut salad. Wow, it worked great with bluegill, and we liked it way more than tuna salad. I hope you try this with some mild white fish. It was wonderful! One of my oven mitts has a big burn mark on it! They go bad fast! LOL! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my dear friend!
Great video sir! I am definitely going to give this recipe a try. I bet it would make a great sandwich for lunch at work. Oh yeah, who won the game? Have a great week. I'm looking forward to next week's video.
Hi Tim! Oh yes! Please try this in a sandwich! I was torn between making bluegill salad sandwiches here, or just serving the salad alone. So I sort of compromised by serving them with some toast. 😋 The Cleveland Browns beat the Indianapolis Colts by a small margin... I can't remember the score, but in preseason, it really doesn't matter much, huh? Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Sounds like Lulu's heart said, exactly, what it wanted to. LOL Great recipe and I knew about fishing under lillies and also near small waterfalls. Anywhere shady is where u can find them, usually. ^^*
Hi MT! She told me that her heart says "thump, thump," but I heard a lot more between the words, and it makes me happy! 😊 You knew about fishing the shade! Yes! It's always good in the heat of summer. But this was weird because the stand of water lilies was in 6½ feet! That's as deep as they can grow! 😁 Thanks so much for watching our videos and thanks for the kind comment my dear friend!
..."Hello Muddah', hello Faddah, here I am at, Ketchabigwon"... Wow, the one that got away... Big enough to feed everyone at Camp Grenada (was that what it was called?) 😎
Hi Dan! How could you remember that old funny song from 1963? You aren't old enough. But you know it! LOL! Here I am at Ketchabigwon! LOL! I think the song was actually named "Hello Muddah" but it came from a board game called "Camp Granada." I'm not sure though. I was confused by the Wikipedia article. 😆 Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi SOCS! You can find out a lot about the lake and the fish if you click on *SHOW* *MORE* under the video. This is our private pond, so I can keep any fish of any size that I wish. I'm not aware of any size limits for bluegill in any state. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Matt! The vegetation is so thick these days that it's a bit of a nuisance, but it's very good for water clarity and the FISH! They'll grow big in it! No one is removing any grass carp these days. It's a rare day that I can even scare a couple of them up! That's a good thing! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hey, Juanelo! Well, here's another fine mess you've gotten yourself into, mess of bluegill, that is. (I'll bet 75% of your fans aren't old enough to know where that comes from.) And the salad looked fabulous! By the way, Miss Lulu, the heart doesn't go "thump, thump;" it goes "whoosh, doosh, whoosh doosh." Ask any med student.
Hi Ted! You said that just like Laurel and Hardy! But I think you're right... the young ones don't know that line! The salad came out so good! We like it now better than chicken or tuna salad! You and Ms. Lulu just aren't very romanic! LOL!! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Bill! It's great to see you again! You've gotta try making a bluegill or catfish salad like this. I stole this recipe from one for halibut. Man, oh man, it was utterly delicious! Lulu told me that her heart says "thump, thump," but I heard a lot more between the words, and it makes me happy! 😊 Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Good morning Juanelo! What a great episode! The blugeill were plentiful and plump. Was that a 5 lb bluegill that got away? It was huge and likely a potential Ohio state record, my guess. The bluegill salad looks delicious and it wil go on our must try list. Laurie and I wish you and Ms Lulu a wonderful week. Mark
Hi Mark! I was very lucky to find those huge bluegill hanging out between the two stands of water lilies. Yes, you saw it! You're my witness! That was a state record 5 pound bluegill that leaped to its freedom off of my ruler. Please try this recipe with any fish of your liking. It was originally a halibut recipe. I just plagiarized it. 😊 Thanks so much for watching our videos and thanks for the kind comment my friends! All the best to you and Laurie!!!
Hi JV! I've done a Senko rigged wacky style before... last year. A coupe videos ago, I caught a huge bass on a Zoom Trick Worm rigged wacky style. I liked the Zoom worm because it stayed on the o-ring and hook all day long. Thanks so much for watching and commenting my friend!
Hi Jay! LOL! Ms. Lulu doesn't express what's in her heart with the most romantic words, but I can read between the words, and it's all good! Thanks so much for watching our videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Patrick! I adapted this recipe from a halibut salad recipe. It worked! The bread is "The Great Low Carb Bread Company." I bought it from netrition.com. (www3.netrition.com/glc_bread_company_bread.html). They're about the same price as Amazon's, they deliver in 2 days, and they package it up much better. Good luck! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi Va! Please try this recipe. I adapted it from a halibut salad recipe. It's a real winner! Thanks so much for subscribing, watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Just so you know juanelo, uncle steve doesnt do fishing videos anymore since he went rip van winkle but he has another channel where he does 1st person short videos. Its the handle SteveAB4EL hes still alive and kicking
Hi c v! Yes, someone else implied that he has another channel. Who woulda thunk it? Thanks for clarifying that he's still around! I remember when he used that name before to comment on my videos. I'll have to look him up! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
When going for bluegill, how do you decide whether to use live bait with a bobber vs. plastic bait with no bobber? And do the same reasons apply when fishing on a river?
HI B27! Good question! Your question brings to mind not two, but THREE, techniques. One method is to use live bait WITH a bobber, two is using live bait WITHOUT bobber, and three is using plastic bait with no bobber. All three methods are very much similar in results for catching bluegill. I did a video testing live bait vs plastic here: th-cam.com/video/gjvI2xZ5qXU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tRWpoAn8O9lQqgXv. If the water is extremely cold, live bait, whether with a bobber or not, has a slight advantage. In warmer water, plastic baits seem a bit better and certainly more convenient to use. In my experience, the choices are almost equal in river fishing too. In streams I usually opt for plastics because they are less fuss. But I've had good success with live bait also. So take your pick! To be honest, I often used the bobber just because it's fun to video the bobber going down when a fish takes the bait. Another time to use it is when I want the bait to stay in one small area where I think the fish are hanging out. As a rule, all 3 methods produce very similar results. I hope this helps you. Have fun! Thanks for watching!
What does it look good again, it seems to me a delicious fish salad that I will definitely make once, only here in the Netherlands we have no Bluegill, but we do find something, my daughter has a fish shop so we will have a delicious fish as a replacement. But enough for now I go fishing and hope for a big carp ... although with the extreme temperatures here it will be difficult to catch a big fish on the day .. they will hopefully bite in the evening when it cools down. friend I wish you a nice week stay healthy, until next time. before I forget buy some oysters and a nice bottle of Italian wine (vino) put a small gift in an oyster a beautiful ring with a pearl or something Miss Lulu will immediately marry you ,problem solved.....
Hi afdb! The good news is that this recipe will go with any mild white fish! In fact, I plagiarized this recipe. It was originally for halibut! So please make it with some fish from your daughter's shop! I'm envious of you for having access to a variety of fresh fish! You could easily use carp in this dish! Ms. Lulu and I both love oysters, and oysters are good for one's libido they say. What a great idea! Thank you! You solved my problems! Although, the scriptwriter and producer may not allow me to go too far with Ms. Lulu. They want to drag the romance out ad nauseam! They say it's better for ratings if we don't marry. LOL 😜 Thanks so much for watching our videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hello Jaunelo You're quite the fellow Your fishing is extra special You reel in the great big big ones then you lose them but you never want to give in You keep on fishing always wishing That that big one you'll be dishing You pull it in it's not so thin Then it jumps back in to the lake just to see who wins You got a big batch of those blue gills It's enough to bring you big thrills That fish salad has made you so glad Now you wish someone would share so it won't be so sad Where or where is that Ms. Lulu She sure knows You'll follow through Al you want for your next dinner is for all those loving words that make you out the winner Please oh please Ms. Lulu don't just tease Oh Ms. Lulu I can give with every single dish all of the freshly caughtin fish for which you'd ever wish Oh Ms. Lulu I forgot one It's the thing That's the big one You might not know this But I love you If you loved me back well that would be... ...the end of these videos! (I just could not help my self.)
Hahahaha! OMG! What a great poem! You must have spent hours on it! It's beautiful! Every stanza is so true! Somehow you were able to see into my mind, comprehend it all, and then reveal it to the world in perfect poetry! I knew you were a talented artist, a crackerjack movie producer, a genius of a gardener, a masterful carpenter, and an accomplished chef, but now I see you're also a fabulous poet! You expressed the dilemma I'm in with great perception. If I win Ms. Lulu's heart, and she loves me back, there'd be no point in continuing the playacting, and thus no raison d'être for these videos! 😊 Oh, what you wrote here was too good for words! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the fantastic comment my friend! You're too much! Ms. Lulu is here and she joins me in wishing you and Dorothy all the best!
@@Juanelo1946 Be sure to sing those words to the music of Dance of Hours or, as we know it, Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. It will go a long way to winning Ms Lulu's heart.
OH WOW!!! I wish you had said that earlier! Now I must say that you're also a great composer and lyricist! I was singing your words out loud to the tune, and Ms. Lulu just told me to "please be quiet." It's my singing that's horrible. Your song is GREAT! Your lyrics work! I can't stop singing it now! Hahaha what a joy!
Juanelo Wax worms are my single favorite bait for Bluegill I toss it our no bobber usually and just watch the line take off. There is a city pond here the biggest I have caught there using wax worms is 2 pounds. Bluegill go stupid for these worms.
Hi Juanelo! Wax worms are smaller and more fragile, but judging by the way the bluegill took to them, I should be using them all the time! What a day this was! I never saw a 2 pound bluegill. That's incredible! Good work! Thanks for watching my friend!
Hi Anthony! Do they televise the Youngstown State games in August? Nah, it was the Browns and Colts preseason game! Thanks so much for watching the video my friend!
Hi again! There is no set amount because real estate varies so widely depending on where you are in the country. This property with the lake is 39 acres. You have to check with a local realtor to see what farm properties like this sell for.
Another great video! I sure wish I had your cooking skills. I’d be lucky if my dinner is the only thing that caught on fire. Anyway great job and keep it up!
Hi DWAI! I have few cooking skills! I only cook once a week. But I followed the recipe very closely! 😁 You could do this with one hand behind your back. I trust you! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
As always, the recipe looked absolutely delicious. It's always nice to enjoy a meal with a beautiful lady. Speaking of football, I'm interested to know what game you were watching? Thanks again for another great video. Have a great week! #govols
Hi Steve! I was in a hurry to watch the Browns play the Indianapolis Colts. Brownies won 21-18, but the score isn't too important, it was just a preseason game. But you know, we need to see who wins those position battles! LOL You would love this fish salad recipe! Thanks so much for watching our videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
My 14-year-old son and I love your videos! Please keep them coming!
Hi 100! Aww, I'm beyond honored! Thanks so much for watching these videos and thanks especially for the kind comment my friends!
I'm sure the food critic was blown away with that delicious dish. I've got to try that one. 👍
Looks delicious!! Your videos are always entertaining too!
Hi Au MENU! Thank you for the visit! Good luck with your channel!
I love to see people have fun even with small fish, thanks for the content!
Good fishing. Fitting music. Best
U are my favorite ytuber EVER
Hi Ep! Aww, man! You're too kind! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the very nice comment my friend!
That looked amazing! Thanks for sharing. I will heading to the pond this week to turn some of our bluegill into that delicious looking salad.
Hi TL! I sure hope you get some bluegill to try this recipe! It was originally for halibut, but wow, does it work great with bluegill! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend! Good luck fishing!
Boy you sure do make it look easy John! Great job.
Hi Gary! Through the magic of video editing, fishing and cooking can be made to look easy as a breeze! LOL! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Another great video! Gonna try this recipe this weekend!!!
For sure!
Juanelo! You're the best to keep coming back to, love the energy!

I remember that tune..."hello Mudder, hello Fadder, here i am, at camp ??? (Rhymes with Fadder)...it is very entertaing, the councilors say we'll have some fun if it stops raining...etc... Keep up the great work

Yes I remember Uncle Steve. Learned much from him. Wish he would come back. Those were big fish you caught. I will have to try these. They look yummy
Hi Angela! It's good to know that you remember Uncle Steve! He taught me how to retrieve live bait with a bobber! For bluegills, they were very large indeed! The bluegill salad turned out yummy! I got lucky! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!

That intro was awesome and even more awesome was the Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah playing in the background. Reminded me of the old Downy commercial.😍
Hi Stan! Not many of us here remember the old "Camp Granada" song, but you do! LOL! And that commercial too... LOL! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Hi, I finally tried Bluegill and it was amazing, fought through the bone, but great! Have a blessed day.

Hi John, those were some nice looking fish you pulled and your bluegill salad looks so spicy zesty and fresh very delicious.
ROCK ON!!!!
Thank you for the video dear Sir. Keep the videos comings... Awesome... Hi LuLu
Hi Foodnetworks! I'll try my best in the future! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
P.S. Lulu is waving! "Hi, foodnetworks!!"
Watching a bobber go under is one of the most satisfying things in the world. Also, I very much miss Uncle Steves videos.
Now that looks tasty! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Keith! Thanks so much for watching our videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
@@Juanelo1946 (:
Wow! Those were some huge bluegills my old friend! Lovely recipe too! Keep up the great work!
Hi Brendan! The lake has always harbored big bluegill, I don't know why. I was lucky to find them out near the middle of the lake next to the water lilies. We loved how the salad turned out. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Great video as always.
Hi Tom! You're a good man!
That bluegill salad has got to be better than any tuna salad for sure! Thanks for another great video!
Hi Jeff! Ms. Lulu and I concluded that this bluegill salad turned out better than tuna salad AND chicken salad! I was lucky to find this recipe! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Abundanza ! Juanelo :) Looks Yummy. A great day of fishing leading to a great day of eating.Hugs and Smiles
Hi Diana! This was originally a recipe for halibut salad. It worked great with bluegill! Thanks so much for watching our videos and thanks for the kind comment my dear friend!
Abundanza!! Yes! LOL!

Gotta try this! Maybe add some green grape halves and some chopped pecans! Look on the bright side, at least Miss Lulu didn't lie to you!
Hi Ratdog! Oh yes, I never thought of grapes or pecans! Mmm!! The perfect additions! Hahaha, she isn't the most romantic person, but she never lies! Good point! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!

Havent watched a video in a while. Nice to seeing you doing well :)
Hi nuke! It's great to see you too! Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!

That looked really tasty, have to try that one. Cute music today 👍
Nice salad.

I'm not aware of any size limits for bluegill in any state. Thanks so much for watching my videos and thanks for the kind comment my friend!
Nice fishing and the recipe looks great. Good to see the vegetation coming back to the lake. Still removing the asian carp from the lake?

Hello Jaunelo
You're quite the fellow
Your fishing is
extra special
You reel in
the great big big ones
then you lose them but you never want to give in
You keep on fishing
always wishing
That that big one
you'll be dishing
You pull it in
it's not so thin
Then it jumps back in to the lake just to see who wins
You got a big batch
of those blue gills
It's enough
to bring you big thrills
That fish salad
has made you so glad
Now you wish someone would share so it won't be so sad
Where or where
is that Ms. Lulu
She sure knows
You'll follow through
Al you want
for your next dinner
is for all those loving words that make you out the winner
Please oh please Ms. Lulu
don't just tease
Oh Ms. Lulu
I can give
with every single dish
all of the freshly caughtin fish
for which you'd ever wish
Oh Ms. Lulu
I forgot one
It's the thing
That's the big one
You might not know this
But I love you
If you loved me back well that would be...
...the end of these videos!
(I just could not help my self.)

Hi Juanelo! Wax worms are smaller and more fragile, but judging by the way the bluegill took to them, I should be using them all the time! What a day this was! I never saw a 2 pound bluegill. That's incredible! Good work! Thanks for watching my friend!

Fish tostada update?
Hi Ty! I'm thinking about it! LOL! Thanks for tuning in my friend!
Let me guess, Youngstown State???
Hi Anthony! Do they televise the Youngstown State games in August? Nah, it was the Browns and Colts preseason game! Thanks so much for watching the video my friend!
Another great video also how much does a lake cost because I want to get one when I’m older
