Everyone can be scary no matter their rank/aptitude and Fang Yuan shows that quite well, even knowing things that he shouldnt at the time like knowing just what to do to keep ranking up and getting more powerful. The concept of Gu is so simple like HM slave Pokemon but its pulled off so well, like you cant have too many or else you cant feed them all, how rare some of them are so their price skyrockets, or their advantages to literally anything you can think of whether through battle or just simply as storage. Then the world itself is actual insanity, you can't travel too far or else roaming beasts will kill you, so you stand no chance but to wait and rank up before leaving to get stronger in order to get even more stronger. And even after all that theres sooo much more that you have to figure out on your own basically
this changes when you reach rank 6 because then you get a blessed land which is a small world and in it you can create food for gu worms, green grape beads from rank 6 are almost unlimited essence for mortal gu
yeah basically. In many cases people have "fortuitous encounters" though, finding inheritances or simply being talented and slowly working your way up. It's possible to go 0 to hero but it's not like you can just hole up in a room and get strong af like normal xianxias with qi and shit, you NEED gu
This is my favorite story ever. I honestly be making power systems in a Xian xia theme but try adding that small world thing they get when they become immortals. That was lowkey one of my favorite things about the system in reverend insanity.
It is not unqie, it is dumbed down and cut basic cultivation system. Gu's exists in basic cultivation, it is just that this system trough all spells on them. You might not realize it because most cultivation stories are about sword cultivators but bug cvultivators exist and they also store bugs in them and feed them and use them. Why I complain about it. Because I find this series painful and irritating. mc who spams trashy and false philosophies to explain every dumb decision he makes. and constant inserts of backstories. what is it? naruto?

This whole system in not unique and in actuality it is simply dumbed down cultivation system. Gu's actually exists in most cultivation power systems, they simply are not sole source of power in them and are simply used by specific types of cultivators. Cultivation actually has meaning for their ranks and not some "barriers". Also cultivation has many tools and talents can be in many disciplines. so yeah reverend insanity took only one slice of cultivation and cut out everything else by dumbing it down. There are tons of better cultivation based non cultivation power systems that at least try to be unique (this one is not)
The information about talent rank it's slightly incorrect. A grade latent doesn't mean possibility to be a rank 5 gu master it's guarantee you to be rank 5 gu master and D grade doesn't mean you cannot become rank 5 gu master it's just unlikely. That's why the MC little brother consider a genius with A grade latent because he will become a rank 5 gu master if he live long enough. And the MC did become a rank 6 gu master in his previous life with C grade latent
But i feel like its such an interesting concept, especially when they gain a blessed land and basically have to grow the food of the gu on their land. Loved it when fang yuan had entire tribes living in his aperture.
