    • @emalaw1329
      @emalaw1329 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "The Franco brother became and actor" what are you implying exactly? Dave Franco got his breakthrough role on 21 Jump Street in 2012 and he was in the Now You See Me movie in 2013, which is a pretty big budget production, while the Disaster Artist came out in 2017, so he definitely didn't start his acting career with that movie. Are you saying that he really found his footing in this film and finally became a GOOD actor after working in it? Cause that's also debatable, his on-screen performances before that were fine imo...

    Dave Franco was a bad choice for Sestero's role; no offense, but Sestero is (specially was back then) an extremely good looking dude: tall, slim body, chiseled features, etc. And Franco is not; he is good looking, but not particularly.
    For instance, there's a scene where the newcomer to L.A Sestero gets picked by some important agency. I'm pretty sure that the agency's call to pick someone like Sestero, virtually unknown and without any connections whatsoever, was purely based on his superlative looks. And Dave Franco simply doesn't have that; sure, you will tell me, Dave's now way more successful than Sestero will ever be, but that's something based on connections, and my argument is based on the disparity of looks and vibe between those two.

      tFighterPilot true but, if according to his book and the movie is true, he could’ve had a decent connection with Cranston. At least enough to appear in a Malcolm In The Middle episode. You add that, plus him doing enough acting classes, along with gaining experience without Tommy Wiseau interrupting and he could’ve had a better career....potentially. But I agree with you, and Greg’s friendship with Wiseau is truly admirable, as well as helping Wiseau with more movies.

    • @trashboat2687
      @trashboat2687 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      bihbhkjbnlk I know, but as I previously stated, had he continued with his acting classes, and possibly persevere without the assistance of Wiseau, plus with his recent connection with Bryan Cranston, who knows he probably could’ve booked a supporting role in a show like SWAT, NCIS or whatever.

      @eliangel7392 4 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      bihbhkjbnlk You cant appreciate a real good acting without a real good director. Thats kind of obvious. I don’t think he is a bad actor, I think he is a good one but sadly worked with bad directors that made him seem bad.

    • @DeadSezSo
      @DeadSezSo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @daimon hellstrom trust me, people like Tommy are so eccentric and near impossible to understand that many of the people who would say they get him are probably completely off base. I think greg sestero's true genuine and good nature is revealed through his friendship with tommy. But lets not sell tommy short on the overwhelmingly positive aspects of his character. This is clearly someone who felt rejected and had been hurt before. He needed that friendship to truly finally take that step but you know what? So did Greg, I think whether he realized it at the time and the proof is the fact that their performance has such a cult following to the point world famous actors are portraying THEM making their movie. Not remaking their movie necessarily...but imitating THEM and their journey together. Truly an inspirational story and inspirational people, both are really good role models for different reasons.

As crazy as Tommy was, it helped him get started and if you read the book, Greg was drawn to Tommy's courageousness, that he lacked. This is how interviews should be conducted. The interviewer asks a question and let's the interviewee finish what he or she has to say before the interviewer asks another question.
    I have seen too many interviews in which the interviewer keeps interjecting and interrupting the one they're interviewing.

      @natfingerboard 6 ปีที่แล้ว +131

      Well he wrote this amazing book.... And it was 14 years ago, he probably has improved his acting a lot, he's got the looks, he is definitely got common sense, is down to earth, he is everything Tommy is not, given the proper chance he could definitely make it as an actor or whatever he really wants to, Tommy dragged him down with this movie.

    • @dmer-zy3rb

      yeah i mostly agree with you regarding greg, but i think you are too disrespectful to tommy.

    • @natfingerboard
      @natfingerboard 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      What I mean is, even if you keep acting aside, he is definitely good at writing, and he was modeling in Europe, even if that's what he wants to do, it doesn't matter if the room is the reason for his appearance in the media, there are a lot of people wanting to do their thing and get recognized, who have everything they need except media exposure, Greg got that for a weird ass reason but he got that now, if he wants to write more books or wants to keep modeling and get bigger contracts he definitely has the chance now and I would be happy if he finally had a break thru in the industry. That's all I'm saying, now if you are implying his book is shit and he can't write and he is not good at any art and shouldn't be in Hollywood than it's just ignorance on your part.

    Seriously though, I'm reading The Disaster Artist right now and I kind of admire Tommy. To me, he's like the Florence Foster Jenkins of cinema, completely unaware of his lack of talent and yet he totally believes in himself and his work. It's amazing, in a way.

    Great book. Very sincere story. That's what makes the story even more entertaining. Greg doesn't say the most flattering things about Tommy, but it does sound very respectful and understanding. Highly recommend the audio book as Greg does a great voice impersonation on every Tommy line.

    You could never find a better best friend than Sestro. This guy knew Tommy is not a normal human being and he knew that nobody would hire Tommy for a big budget film as an actor. He just wanted to see his friend happy. That's what friendship has to boil down to. True brotherhood in a nutshell. Doesn't matter how bad the movie was, Sestro wanted to make it happen even if he didn't agree with Tommy.

    I think the audio book of the Disaster Artist is great. It's read by Greg and he does a great Tommy impersonation throughout, with the Polish accent. Greg would be good as a narrator.
