We have literally watched these boys grow up since they have been coming to the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis for many years. For those who are unfamiliar Minneapolis and St.Paul is home to a large Swedish community. Since I married a Swede it was only natural to seek out things that would make her happy and reconnect to her roots. Boy did we find a connection through Vasen. Thanks Boys. See you back at the Cedar.
Hearing these tunes live and how easy it is for them to sometimes slip out of those lovely irregular rhythmic grooves-not be quite in the pocket-makes me appreciate their masterful recordings even more.
These chaps are something else - as the description says playful but with such depth and beauty - I really hope they will play in England someday , they never seem to . They sound like 6 people at times -off the scale musicianship and totally original .
I know they've played in Glasgow a bunch of times so it's not impossible that they'd make it to England someday. Be on the look out, they're quite something live.
@@andersgadejensen6945 No its no joke, it does not mean polare, its a brand of hiking/camping gear poler.com... And Polare is another word for friend, not a drunkard. Regards from a Swedish native living in Sweden.
I heard them live in CA a few months ago and asked Roger about the tuning because I was stumped watching him. He said he plays alot tuned ADADAD. I never would have guessed that.
Quite differently, I guess. By the way, the instrument played here is a 5-string-violin, not a viola. In fact, it is a combination of both instruments. The tuning is C - G - D - A - E.

Lawrence Gantner That's a great and very sweet story, Lawrence. Kind regards to you and your family, sincerely, from Sweden.
More folks need to hear this!

La presentación de Väsen ayer en el auditorio de la Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango ayer en Bogotá fue magnífica. ¡Gracias y pronto regreso!
Loved hearing the stories behind the tunes I love so much.
Es un honor poderlos ver hoy en mi hermosa ciudad

heard berroguetto in the 9th music :)
Um... yes.
What's the viola player's hat mean?
Paul Huffman same question.. (by the way, he’s playing a 5-string - so it’s both violin and viola)
It is the Logo of the Poler hiking gear company...
Poler, or probably more likely spelled polare, is (I belive) a Swedish colloquial for a drunkard. He's probably wearing it as a joke.

@@lundqvistmachinsnickeri Ah. Good! Thanks. I think listening to too much Cornelis Vresvijk mislead me. Greetings from a Swedofile Dane.
I need the name of tune.
Which one?
What guitar is that? And how is it tuned?
Martin J1215, I believe.
Tons of info on Tallroths unique tunings and his 12 string on their website.

the ADADAD tuning is tough if you don't have enormous hands like Roger :-)
i wonder how it would sound with a cello instead of a viola

@@Waldlaeufer70 Technically a 5 string viola. I looked it up and found this neat article:www.fiddle.com/Articles.page?Index=1&ArticleID=69522
