have said this time and again, cleric is the most versitile class in the game, it can fulfil any role incredibly well. from tank, to front line dps, to spellcaster, to CC, to support, to Healing to stealth. you can basically minor in cleric for any class, and they will get something out of it. even classes that technically would be best as pure, can get some utility from one of the cleric domains.
So I changed this up slightly, ADORED using your build as a base though. Went for dual weilding with savage attacker on double longswords with the Adamantine Longsword in the offhand to nullify any and all slashing resistance for both of them, then with Larethian's Wrath and the sweep maneuvers you're cleaving for high damage every turn on every opponant no matter what, also letting you hit people through sanctuary, while ALSO having all the buffs and options for single enemy control. Later in act 2 I swapped in Cruel Sting as the primary sword sometimes but varied depending on fight. Love this video, had a ton of fun with this build. It's great.
The cool narrative with this class combination is that, with *both* the Healing Word spell and Rally maneuver, you can basically roleplay it as your character pointing to an ally and yelling "YOU DIE ONLY WHEN I SAY SO!" at them.
This is great. One thing that I like so much about your build suggestion videos is they are not just good in strategic perspective but also in roleplaying perspective.
I gotta say your content for BG3 is my favorite that ive found. Ive tried most of the builds you've done so far and ive enjoyed them all. Thanks for the content and keep it coming brother! 👍
FYI there is a currently a bug if you class out of War Cleric into another class (or maybe just in general, I've seen mixed reports): the War Priest extra attack will automatically come online after your first attack, meaning that you must spend a War Priest charge to make a second attack. Yes, that means what it sounds like--you must spend a War Priest charge before you can use your extra attack from action surge, martial classes' secondary attack, or haste. Before you ask, no, spending your bonus action on something else does not fix this, it just completely locks you out of your second action. Hopefully they fix this, although you probably want to start as fighter here
So this bug doesn't happen if you start in Fighter, move into Cleric, and then back into Fighter? I just started a Duergar Ranger as my third Tav, so I have time to wait for a fix. Still, this is a bad bug. It can really ruin a playthrough, forcing a character into an entirely different direction.
@@elementzero3379 That's what I've been told, though it's not clear to me. I am pretty sure I classed from monk into cleric on my run and still had the same problem. Hopefully they will change it to a toggleable passive. In the meantime, I guess just pick up the weapons/armor proficiencies from tempest cleric or something? But losing that bonus action attack bites.

For another source of damage cast spiritual weapon. non concentration, cast as a bonus action and adds an additional weapon on the battlefield. My first round as a cleric is always to cast Spirit Guardians and Spiritual Weapon.
Multiattack has been bugged for months with Fighter/War Cleric. You need to do Fighter 5 then go into War cleric. Otherwise the game will force you to use your Bonus Cleric attack in-between your 2 regular attacks from Fighter. Which means you'll burn through all your Cleric Bonus attacks in 3 turns, even if you don't want to use them. Also, it's been like 3.5 months at this point. It feels like your example Elf should have made it to Level 12 by now. Just take an hour or two of play and actually finish him to 12, please! :)
Something to keep in mind about the Maneuvers is that push attack will synergize very well with polearm master and sentinel. They come into range, eat an attack of opportunity, then you use push attack, come back into range, eat an attack of opportunity etc etc
Tip: For anyone going Gold Dwarf, remember their con goes up with every level, put extra points into dex instead to gain that initiative up so you are front line. Dexterity determines the initiative of your character.
Nice! i tried myself something similar but with 6/6 BM and Light Domain, more like Sunfire Templar. So i could go 2h or 1h+shield with spirit guardian on, some AOE like Radiance of the Dawn that scales with player lvl and even fireball if needed. Also picking Alert feat adds +5 to iniciative so it's also a good choice because with heavy armor and 10 dex, iniciative is really low. Cheeeers!
If you went 6 fighter 6 cleric you would get an extra channel divinity and the ability to use that channel divinity to help an ally hit too! Just misses out on a few combat maneuvers

Questions: You took Dueling as your fighting style, but I don't think that works with Selune's spear because it has the versatile tag, right? I think that is the same for all spears and a few of the other weapons mentioned so I thought it worth asking.
Because dueling doesn't care if a weapon is versatile or not. It cares if you are wielding only a single weapon, and said weapon is being held by a single hand. So if you have a versatile weapon in one hand, and a shield in the other... dueling fighting style applies.
Im trying it and its amazing, but i did the 2 weapon fighting, also using the bow that gives haste, potion of flying then casting spirit guardians makes it easier,

I wanted to make a build for the weapon of bernard , was thinki g some kind of ranger cleric or fighter cleric class was not sure if it was a good idea tho
Hi! Super late reply and I may not be entirely correct about this but I was thinking the same thing and as far as I could tell, you absolutely can do that. Starting as fighter just gives you proficiency with constitution saving throws which helps you keep your concentration spells up, but I’m pretty sure there are ways to offset it as well, there’s a necklace in Act 3 that boosts your constitution to 23 and I have that on Shadowheart now to incredible effect. But earlier in the game, you can also take one of fighter’s extra feats to be able to snag that constitution saving throw proficiency as well if you have to. Might not be quite as optimal but it fits thematically. If there’s anything else I missed I’m sure someone else will swoop in and correct me too haha
Everything you level up, you have the option at the bottom to "add a class" and you will get to use your level up to take one level in a different class rather than progressing your current class. You can talk to Withers at any time in camp and pay him 100 gp to "change my class" and that will set you back at level one and you can level up again to your character level. If you were a level 6 paladin but wanted to have a level in cleric instead, you could do this process and after talking to Withers you will be level 1 but still character level 6. Level up like normal with the standard choices, but instead of leveling your paladin to 6, you "add a class" and select cleric. Just an example but that's how it will work
You know what about 2 level fighter 1 cleric 5 ranger and 4 clleric , you will get tanky as hell with a lot more charges of caster and fire resistance and some good rituall spell
Just a note for those who pick the "duelling" fighting style: the damage bonus only applies to one-handed non-versatile weapons. So if you use a spear like Selune's (which is versatile) as suggested in the video, you won't get the damage bonus. So if you're a spear girlie, you might as well go defence for your fighting style.
Have you tested this? The wording is weird on that fighting style, but it boils down to “if you are using a weapon in one hand.” Versatile weapons are supposed to get the bonus
Honestly, found Cleric to be mostly useless when compared to either Sorcerer or Warlock. In fact, found both of those to be useless when I can have a Sharpshooter Gloomstalker and/or Fighter with Arrows of Many Targets, and also Eldritch Blast Warlock. The way the game works, full casters, or melee gish casters are just medicore.
Pretty sure highest dps is a gish. Pally 2 swords bard 10 with helm of acuity and the spell quickening ring that lets you can enchant and illusion as bonus action. You can 100 percent hold person like 5 targets and guarantee crit smite everyone with the equivalent of 4-5 attacks per turn.

But earlier in the game, you can also take one of fighter’s extra feats to be able to snag that constitution saving throw proficiency as well if you have to. Might not be quite as optimal but it fits thematically. If there’s anything else I missed I’m sure someone else will swoop in and correct me too haha
Ok noob question but how do you pick up the se one class? Is it Withers?
Everything you level up, you have the option at the bottom to "add a class" and you will get to use your level up to take one level in a different class rather than progressing your current class. You can talk to Withers at any time in camp and pay him 100 gp to "change my class" and that will set you back at level one and you can level up again to your character level. If you were a level 6 paladin but wanted to have a level in cleric instead, you could do this process and after talking to Withers you will be level 1 but still character level 6. Level up like normal with the standard choices, but instead of leveling your paladin to 6, you "add a class" and select cleric. Just an example but that's how it will work
Wait did dragonborne always scale with lvl with their breath I remember playing months ago and not liking the breathe attack
Nope! It's a recent patch! It's lovely
THanks i will try it out when i make a new one @@italianspartacus
I prefer Paladin/Cleric, specifically Vengeance/Tempest.
Does Polearm Master work with tridents?
Hey how do you have fighter and cleric at lvl 1? I'm level 5 with my fighter but can't choose a subclass
Wouldn't a Templar Knight just be a paladin?
Yes, but a different engine running in the background on how they receive their powers.
Is 6 in CLERIC and 6 in FIGHTER good to?
Very!! :)
For the algorithm
the dragon born resistance is very respectable as a racial feature
You know what about 2 level fighter 1 cleric 5 ranger and 4 clleric , you will get tanky as hell with a lot more charges of caster and fire resistance and some good rituall spell
Just a note for those who pick the "duelling" fighting style: the damage bonus only applies to one-handed non-versatile weapons. So if you use a spear like Selune's (which is versatile) as suggested in the video, you won't get the damage bonus. So if you're a spear girlie, you might as well go defence for your fighting style.
I tested this and it does indeed work with two handed versatile weapons wielded in one hand :)
@@italianspartacus 😯😯😯 they should change that tooltip then! *equips all spears*
Ima try a 6/6 split with champion, not to crit fish more a to role play being a champion of my god
daBest!
NO U!
Homie really ditched dragonborn so fast
hahaha i don't have a lvl 12 dragonborn character :)
Templar Knight is just a paladin.
Random comment for TH-cam algorithm
Phalar Aluve doesn't get the +2 bonus from dueling, however. (Weapon cannot be light or versatile.)
Have you tested this? The wording is weird on that fighting style, but it boils down to “if you are using a weapon in one hand.” Versatile weapons are supposed to get the bonus
It's Two-handed or versatile USED as a two-hander. You're fine if you use it as a one-handed long sword :)
Nice
Ripost is not pronounced like that
Paladins get out.
second
I feel like fighter/cleric is my only option to play a holy warrior without being boxed into always good pally
