“It’s about their gift.” is kind of the point. Lin said Bruno also represents the uncle who makes family dinner awkward by spitting the unsettling truth.
This was exactly me. I saw everyone crying, I told myself I wouldn’t cry, but then they played Abuela’s backstory and I started bawling lol. Disney is just so good with these emotional moments, I don’t know why I thought I’d be able to get through without crying. Especially because I’m such a crybaby in general 😅
I have a strange obsession of watching people react to things I love, especially if they are going in blind, I just love reactions! Thank you for reacting to this!
Can we talking about Bruno being a homie? Bruno resembles his father. He's selfless, loves his family enough to separate himself from them and 'sacrifice' himself if that means that his family would be happy. Just like his father did. He was even willing to take the blame for Mirabel after the house fell apart to save her from becoming him He was described as Seven foot frame by Camilio (shape-shifting boy) probably because he was a kid and Bruno just seemed tall to him. Plus after years of hearing bad stories about it, it probably elevated that image to about seven foot, towering, creepy man.
I actually have a theory on that one. Camillo was young when Bruno left, but Bruno clearly has been coming out from time to time, after all he had that chair in the walls, and he has been getting food. So what if Camillo was up getting water or going to the bathroom, when he seen Bruno with that big chair on his back and his blankets on top of it so he looked huge to the small boy in the dark. He was terrified from the sight he scene, Bruno wanting to reassure his Nephew called out to him. But Camillo was so scared and had heard such stories about his uncle that when he called out to him, he fainted. So Bruno put him back to bed then continued on his way. That would explain him thinking he was 7ft tall. And seen him with the rats on his back. When he called his name all faded to black.
I don’t know why people sleep on Isabella’s powers? She literally creates life out of NOTHING and controls all plant life. She can create vines strong enough to hold people. She can build cities, bridges, etc just by wanting it. Now she can create poisonous plants. She is badass.
I love Isa's story because until that moment, she thought all she could make was flowers. The pressure to be perfect, pretty, feminine, get married, have perfect little babies to keep the family and gifts going, etc was literally keeping her weaker and smaller. She wasn't allowed to make mistakes so nothing new was even attempted which is something SO MANY of us can relate to. My favorite lyric in her song is "what could I do if I just knew it didn't have to be perfect, it just needed to be". And then by the end she's making all sorts of plants which is, in fact, one of the most powerful gifts of the bunch. You are very accurate there. From poisons to bridges, endless lumber materials, not to mention she can feed everyone by helping to grow crops. She's incredibly powerful
i love how Bruno is just this akward kinda introverted guy who loves doing silly jokes. Unfortunally, due to his gift everything he says is taken too seriously and he just had to restrain himself from it. Like, Pepa sang "Bruno says it looks like rain, in doing so he floods my brain", because she tought Bruno had a vision that showed him that soon it would be raining, when infact Bruno just wanted to mock his sister for being too swety. Later on he says "Pepa, I'm sorry about your wedding, didn't mean to be upsetting. That wasn't a prophecy, I could just see you're sweting", so the dude just wanted to fool around, but had to restrain himself fearing some one would have a literal breakdown.
Still, it's kinda mean that he joked about his sister's weakness, which he *knew* about. It would be like telling someone who's allergic to nuts that they have a peanut in their soup as a joke.
@@Kyss111 Her weakness is that she panics easily, she's emotionally unstable due to her having to suppress any negative feelings, and since it was her wedding day she must have been under a lot of pressure. Bruno should have known not to mess with her at that moment.
Its actually very subtle: her gift is the same as Abuela Alma's. She's connected to the house itself. That's why she can communicate with it, and why the house doesn't come back alive until SHE puts the doorknob in. Or, in other words, her door was the house's FRONT door!
I don’t think she’s ONLY connected to Casita itself. Remember, the house is alive BECAUSE of the miracle, and it’s not a gift itself (although you might argue that the miracle IS a gift, but my point still stands). Gifts refer to responsibility, it was made to protect and serve the village. She has less of a gift and more of an important role in the family. Like Abuela, she is the holder of the miracle itself, and because of that she is the glue of the family. Her role in the family is leadership and support, as you can see throughout the movie how she makes her family members open up and at the end during the building of Casita. She’s a vital role for the family to keep together, because if she was just another family member with a gift like everyone else, no one in the family will have an active support system except for Abuela, and you’ve seen how Abuela acts pre-ending. (Also, the thing about her and Abuela being the only ones to communicate with Casita. Abuela can communicate with Casita very well since she spent decades as a single mom and learning Casita’s body language so they can help each other better. Mirabel stayed in the nursery more than anyone, where Casita can still control the things inside. She also probably stayed in the house much more longer when she was younger because she didn’t need to help the town. Also, everyone is just as in sync with Casita as with Mirabel. Mirabel just talks to Casita more [probably because of the lack of people she talks to growing up].)
I like how at the beginning when they took a picture it was them using their gifts but at the end when they found more value in themselves then their gifts they take a picture without using their gifts
The reconciliation scene made me cry. It's great to see someone who is old, proud and made sacrifices own up to their mistakes to someone they're supposed to be respected by, to someone who they had previously blamed for the things that went wrong. I don't see older people take responsibility often, especially in family.
Talking about the blessings being curses, not gifts, I think you're right. Some people theorize that Pedro's sacrifice and love for his family gave them the miracle, but in Dos Oruguitas, it comes from Abuela as a wave of grief and despair. The candle raised mountains as Abuela put up emotional walls to protect herself from the trauma. Everyone's gifts were designed to keep themselves, the family, and community safe. I had a therapist once say that, as much as we don't like them, trauma responses are our way of keeping ourselves prepared and safe from danger, even if that danger doesn't exist anymore. It's like, "Thanks, brain, for trying to take care of me, but we don't need this reaction all the time." These gifts are a trauma response. Julieta heals, Camillo can disguise himself, Bruno can see what's coming, Dolores can hear trouble before it gets there, Luisa is a tank. Even the less obvious gifts can be used should they come under attack again.
I've never thought about it that way, but it makes sense. The miracle is a trauma response, that's why even if it was needed in the short term (Abuela and the triplets' generations), in the long term it became harmful (the cousins' generation, who didn't live the trauma themselves and are suffering the stress the most). That's why Bruno saw the house collapsing, it has to happen because the trauma response was not needed anymore. And the miracle they receive at the end was born from healing, from accepting the pain of the past but also from knowing that life goes on.
Their powers only become 'curses' because of all the burden Abuela placed on them. Once they work through everything, they become able to appreciate themselves and thus their Gifts.
i actually love isabela's powers, the power to create plants the power to be mother nature... imagine how she could restore trees and plants to save the earth and you're just not seeing it...
Stopping time is an inner monologue trick. You see it a lot in theatre productions. She has a stellar voice, but she's not the only one. She's not causing the cracks. Bruno sees the future. Not her. Camilo is a shapeshifter, and his part of "We don't talk about Bruno" sort of makes sense in context. Bruno's been gone since Mirabelle was 5. She was the last Madrigal kid before Antonio to have a gift ceremony, with Camilo likely being the kid directly prior to her. They're only a few months apart, so Camilo has fashioned his part of the narrative based on what he heard from the older Madrigals (probably mostly from Pepa and Felix).
Nah, Mirabel has wide-area reality control, the ability to slow or stop time, plus mind control to make everyone in the area sing whatever's on their mind, and *then* her powers alter their memory so they think they only had a normal conversation afterwards. She's pretty overpowered.
it's pretty cool how in theater production when all the characters freeze and one character turns to the crowd and starts talking, we implicitly understand the "conversation" is happening inside the characters head. Like, I never had this explained to me, but I still understood it at like 4 or 5 years old when my grandparents took me to plays. it's like a whole language itself, story telling
Agree!. Also there's is a superstitious thing I haven't seen many people catching up, when there's rain in a wedding day it can means bad luck for the couple so I guess when Bruno said that she maybe though it was something bad and made her worry causing the hurricane
It was almost the same lesson as frozen. At the end we see her HAPPY and creating a light hail storm above her. This implies that she has potential control it because earlier in the film happy meant sunshine and storms were only connected to negative emotions. Bruno said it wasn't a prophecy, he was just trying to tell her it was okay for her to be nervous about the wedding. Let it out. Let it go. It was okay for her to feel what she was feeling, she didn't have to be scared that her power would ruin anything, because her family kept trying to get her to not feel things because it was inconvenient for them.
The thing is, with anxiety disorder, nothing freaks you out more than the thought that you might freak out. Add that with the pressure of a wedding day...
I think Isabella can do soooo much with her plant growing. She could grow trees, crops, and all kinds of beneficial plants. Imagine her growing trees after forests are destroyed brutally, she could just wave her hand and BAM fixed.
Isabella's powers aren't just growing flowers. She can grow and control ANY plant life. Ergo, she's one of the most useful and important gifts because she can grow crops. The problem is that Abuela has this obsessive need for her to be the embodiment of beauty and perfection and has driven it into Isa's mind from a young age that being this "pretty princess that can grow flowers" spreads positive vibes around the town and is the most important use of her gift.
Fun fact: Bruno’s original name was going to be Oscar but that was changed to fit the song about him Louisa originally didn’t have much of a character until the song creator was reminded of his sister with Louisa and thus the song “Surface Pressure” was created and things were changed to give Louisa more of a character
Mirabel’s Gift is the same as her Abuela’s. She is the heart of the encanto. Abuela is getting very old and will die someday, so there has to be somebody to be the head of the family after her. That’s why her door is the front door - the whole casita is hers. The love she has for her family is the greatest gift of all, because it is that love that fuels their miracle and their powers. This is foreshadowed by the fact that she and Abuela are the only ones shown to actively communicate with the house. They are the only ones who speak to it and give it orders.
You might find this surprising but Camilo (The Shapeshifter), Isabela (The Gardener) and Dolores (The Snitch) is actually the most loved character in the movie, Camilo loved for his energy and looks, Isabela for the love for her family, and Dolores for taking care of Bruno for 10 years giving him food.
Honestly, the only person who mistreated Mirabel was the grandmother and Isabel and Isabel was just kind of a bitch and I honestly think it’s because she was probably jealous Mirabel doesn’t have to live with the same expectations. Otherwise, it’s mostly the Abuela. Also growing plants is extremely powerful. Flowers can be eaten and used for medicinal purposes too. She can also grow plants that are rare or dying out. So it’s super powerful!
But it's less powerful when you're told to restrain yourself and just make roses and flor de mayo because you are a pretty flower princess and that's what everyone wants from you, and because of the generational trauma in that house, you fit yourself into the box your grandmother made for you. Once she cuts loose, breaks free, learns to do her own thing, her power grows like the grapes that thrive on the vine.
@@kristinw2600 it’s not less powerful. It was only not known HOW powerful it was. I don’t think she was explicitly told to only make roses. Isabela just never knew she could make other flowers based on her reaction to making a freaking cactus.
Also I’m not sure how that pertains too much to what I said. You’re deviating more into Abuela than into Isabela’s power by itself. Which is what I was talking about.
I just now noticed that during his vision, Bruno says that "it's all out of order" so the embrace we see is the last one, with Abuela at the river, not the one with Isabella. I didn't notice this when I watched the movie, I thought it looked like Abuela, but then Isabella stole the scene (even in a vision LOL)
There were five "embraces" that needed to happen, one for each of the family members who were cracking under the pressure.. The first Mirabel did unprompted. She understood the pain Luisa was going through and gave Luisa the love and support she needed. She then came to understand her Tio Bruno and gave him the love he's been missing all this time. Next she had to understand and love Isabella. Then Abuela Alma. The final embrace was accepting and loving herself. It's entirely possible without having done all of these the magic would have remained lost, even after they rebuilt the Casita.
24:30 Actually you're right, it's the butterfly effect. If she didn't wanted to hug her sister, she would never had a fight with Abuela and save the miracle
You can tell they aren’t happy by their expressions. BTW: In the song, they explain that Isabella is stuck being perfect (basically the golden child of the family)
I absolutely adore this movie! My favorite headcanon I’ve seen is when Camilo was 5-6 so right before Bruno left he was going to the kitchen in the middle of the night and he didn’t notice Bruno in there was well. Well Bruno noticed and called out his name and it scared Camilo so badly he screamed and fainted. He saw a “7 ft frame” to a child everyone is tall as hell, “when he calls your name it all fades to black” when he fainted when Bruno called out to Camilo, he “feasts on your screams” when he screamed. It just makes perfect sense! I find it hilarious!
Mostly right but I think it was right after Bruno had left the family and he seen Bruno carrying that chair and blankets draped over it with his rats riding on top. So with the blankets over the chair, little to no light and a good imagination of a small child and all he would see is a monster looking villain sneaking around in the dark. The rest is just as you said. He it petrified with fear, Bruno calls out to him, he screamed then fainted.
I am convinced of 2 things after seeing this movie. 1. I am convinced that Isabela is the Colombian version of Poison Ivy. 2. I am convinced that Luisa can stand up against that buff woman from the Female Furies from DC.
The feeling when you realize the reason Peppa doesn't talk about Bruno isn't because of the wedding mishap but because he's her brother and she misses him but she can't talk about it because to the towns people and Abuela he's a bad person who always made bad things happen and abandoned his family instead of doing what Abuela wanted him to do.
I have to say can we all kinda appreciate the fact that shes the only princess I have seen that didnt have to go across the whole world to solve the problem in the movie😂
I don't watch musicals very often but I'm very glad I decided to see this one, it has a great message and lots of emotion and heart! Definitely a modern classic in my eyes! And the animation is something else, it's amazing how far it's come in the last 20 years or so. As I said I don;' usually watch musical movies, but I did enjoy the songs in this, my favourites were probably Luisa's song about pressure and we don't talk about Bruno! Glad you enjoyed it as well, as always I'm happy to revisit these movies through your entertaining videos!
The fish dying wasn’t even seeing the future, it’s just knowing that goldfish last like a week and a half! 😂 (so I’ve learned they can last years, which sounds insane to me, never heard of it. I guess we just don’t know how to properly care for them, and other factors ppl in the replies have brought up) You can actually see Bruno in the background during Dolores’s part in We Don’t Talk About Bruno My interpretation is that Mirabel will be the new matriarch after Abuela, who also doesn’t have a power. She’ll help keep the love going in the family and continue in Abuela’s place for the gift getting ceremony
@@deewildone1644 I was gonna come in to say that, but I’m thankful you said it already. Also another thing people don’t realize… is that they shouldn’t be kept in small bowls like that, it’s torture for them and really any fish, even betta fish. People don’t care about fish enough to find this out sadly
@@deewildone1644 actually one of the main reason goldfish die so quickly is they where likely won at some carnival game where they have been stuck in plastic bags or over crowded barrels for so long before you win it that it's not in the best of shape when you get it. Then needing to get a proper tank and air equipment might take a few days especially if you weren't planning on getting your kid a fish so by the time its finally in the tank ots on its last leg 8 out of 10 times.
@@Yugioh420 Another issue is shock. When you get a new fish, you shouldn't just dump them straight into the tank because the difference in temperature between the water they're in and the water they're going into can stress their bodies. You place the bag they're in in the water for ten minutes so it changes gradually to the same temperature. Then you can release them into the tank. I grew up owning fish and the gold fish we owned lived for several years. They're actually quite hardy if you know how to take good care of them. (And keeping them in a little, barren bowl is not taking good care of them,)
The only thing I tell everyone when they watch this movie is that the first song is important. It tells everyone’s gifts and who is siblings/ cousins. Also her cousins wear like orange/ red tons and her sisters and mom and dad wear cooler tones like purple pinks light blue
There's an interesting Reddit theory I love that points out that each group of siblings & powers are divided into threes, i.e.: *Julieta, Pepa, & Bruno* - powers are based on the past, present, & future * Julieta cures wounds created in the past * Pepa changes the weather in the present * Bruno predicts the future *Dolores, Camilo, & Antonio* - powers are based on the sayings hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil * Dolores has super hearing powers * Camilo can take on anyone’s appearance * Antonio can understand animals *Isabela, Luisa, & Mirabel* - powers are based on beauty, brawn, & brain * Isabela produces beautiful plants * Luisa is so strong that she can move buildings * Mirabel doesn’t have powers like the rest, but she’s the brain that pieces everything together
The situation portraited in the beggining of the movie is real. Is an actual thing lived by tons of families in Colombia, in the past and now. It is good that now the world knows what happens. Love your review.
it is absolutely incredible how often she is wrong and even edits so that the is talking bs while in the background the characters say how it really is. The editor is just bad.
I've been binging reactions to Encanto and my favorite thing is to see the different emotional intelligences of the people reacting. I love how you pick up on the neglect Mirable faces.
I thought Isabela's powers were less than until I remembered that fruits and veggies are plants, she can create something really necessary for the growth of their village or their destruction if she so felt like it
I think that the grandfather's sacrifice and his wish was to gave his new family a safe refuge to keep them safe, somewhere where they can say together.
"Not even Hufflepuff?!" Why is this the funniest reaction I've ever seen to the part where Dolores says Mirabel didn't get a gift! "Don't break my heart, Bruno." And then the bit with the plate plays. XD
Honestly, Abuela is probably my favourite character because of just how complex she is. She's such a grey character, though she's leaning more heavily to the good spectrum. She's genuinely a good person, she really does want to help her community and we can tell underneath her surface she cares for her family. But because of her trauma and loss then being given a gift, a second chance, she is so desperate not to lose it again that she ends up hurting her family. In the end, there's no more candle. The candle was born from trauma, Abuela keeping it around just shows that she hasn't completely moved on from that trauma. Then in the end, when their magic returns but there's no more candle, Abuela was finally able to move on. The gift no longer came from a traumatic memory, it now comes from the love of the family. Abuela is so complex, so well written, she ends up being such a fascinating character to analyse. Because of that, she is definitely one of my favourite characters.
One of the best Movies Disney has put out for a while. I just love my heart Bruno. I would just hug him all the time, best Charakter really. I mean how many uncles do you know of, who will exile themselves willingly for his nieces life? Bruno deserves all the love. All Characteres are lovable though (maaaaybe despite Abuela,i know she got a redemption, but still not enough for mentally abusing her children and grandchildren for their whole lives up until this point. Sorry Abuela. =/) Oh and as for favorite songs: we don't talk about Bruno and Surface pressure. Also also: I'm with you. Bruno = Favorite Character of all time. I love Bruno so, so much.
I still think Abeula is lovable. I'm not denying how much she hurt them all over the years, but I am taking into account the past and the future. The past referring to her trauma and the fact that the reason she did those things was understandable. She had already lost everything once and she didn't want it to happen to her or her family again. So she ended up holding on to them all so tight she ended up breaking them apart. And the future referring to the fact that we see that she is genuinely remorseful and realizes that she was hurting them, which she never intended to do. Everything she did came from a place of love, and realizing that those things hurt them means that she'll change for the better in the future.
Kind of in connection to this, but you don't have to read if you don't want to: Also, a lot of the roles that everyone ended up in were roles that they kept themselves in because they felt obligated to. Abuela may have put them there at some point, that's true, but nothing said they weren't allowed to break out of those roles. No one told Luisa she wasn't allowed to take breaks, but she felt like she would let everyone down if she fell behind in any way so she pushed herself. Because she was the strong one. Isabella was never told she 𝘩𝘢𝘥 to marry Mariano, but she was going to because she thought that the family would be proud if she did. Because she was the perfect one, the golden child, the oldest. And Abuela enforces it sometimes because she thinks that they want it too. Of course, they could just tell her but who wants to go against the family matriarch who suffered so much to get them to this point? "It's just this much, I'll be fine" and "It's okay, it's not that big a deal" and that's how feelings can get buried without people realizing and the pressure builds up over time til they just couldn't take it anymore.
Abuela may not be loveable to u bcus u've never been in such situation as her. U've to take into account of her past trauma & worry for the future. It all comes down for her family & the village at the end. She psychologically hurts them alright but she's not a villain. She's such a perfect grey character. Except the marriage with Isabela, all of her actions are still realistic & reasonable.
@@resurgingflame I know that. I am aware that she has her own reasoning, but it's just my opinion that the moment many other people are severely negatively effected by 1, this 1 person can have the best of reasons, he or she would always have permanent negative points. Because 1 life or sorrow can be worth more than another, but that's just my opinion. =) I know and respect the people out there sympathizing and rooting for abuela, and good too, because she also needs love. =) have a good day. =)
I'M LATE FOR THIS ONE BECAUSE THIS ENTIRE WEEK I HAD TO RUSH THROUGH MY CHEMISTRY HOMEWORK AND I HADN'T WATCHED ENCANTO ON MY OWN YET. This is the result of sleeping for 4 hours for the past week help me - BUT I'M HERE! And I'm READY! (and possibly hyped up on coffee) Not you making a pact to not cry before the movie started. Ohhhh boy :") And you're not wrong about the music in the beginning being uplifting. But going to a war? No thanks XD HAHAHAH YOU JUST VIBING TO THE SONGS IS A MOOD! I still don't know how I feel about the grandmother. She just reminds me of a lot of asian parents and so my impression of her is pretty skewed (idk if that's the right word but eh)
I wish we could have seen at least a brief glimpse of every family member's room (hopefully there will be a sequel for us to see them). It would hv been cool to see Luisa's room early in the film (maybe w/ everything made of stone/ focused on her strength like the concept design), & then see Luisa's, Bruno's & Isabela's rooms *after* Casita is rebuilt, getting to see how they've changed w/ the new family dynamic, (i.e. Luisa given space to relax, & Isa having *all kinds* of plants, etc)
The raccoons are actually South American coatimundis. There are a number of interesting critters that show up due to the Colombian setting, like the tapir and the capybara.
At the start, you complain about the whole family treating Mirabel as an outcast. But really, it was only Isabela and Alma. Her parents are obviously supportive the whole time, she has great relation with Antonio, we can infer a pretty good relation with Luisa, and as far as the rest goes, nothing is really shown either way.
Honestly I do kinda blame Bruno for her wedding because we see she has severe anxiety, even the smallest things can set her off, and Bruno should know better by then to make jokes like that to her face lol even little jokes could set her off. Actually her dad was trying to protect his daughter because the vision makes it looks bad on Mirabel.
And it wasn't intended to be a permanent solution, just a temporary patch to get them through the proposal dinner. Had that gone well and they brought it to Abuela the next morning, it's quite possible Abuela would have listened to them and at least considered that Mirabel wasn't the cause of the cracks. But Abuela was so focused on the proposal dinner going perfectly and already upset with Mirabel because of Luisa's struggles that going right then would have been a disaster.
I think Mirabel's gift is being a power source for the candle. You'll notice that cracks only appear when she is feeling sad or hopeless, and everything breaks down when she outright says Abuela doesn't care about the family, which must ha e been the most heartbreaking moment of her life.
10:57 No. She didn't stop the time. It's a stylistic choice. I explained what I think the meaning is in a previous comment, so I will keep it brief. She is in her own mind and distancing herself.
hey everyone! thanks for watching this video! appreciate y'all and your support ❤ now tell me your favorite songs from this movie! p.s. We Don’t Talk About Bruno got claimed so I had to mute it, sorry 🙃
Uhm....... no lo se, es muy complicado elegir una, pero creo que mi favorita es el soundtrack "Colombia, mi encanto" la musica es pegajosa, el ritmo es movido y muy latina.
D) She has the ability to control the house and the destiny of her entire family. She basically has the same power as the Abuela, who doesn't have an stablished gift, but controls what happens to the family. So she is the new matriarch 😊🥳... but since she is a little more emphathetic, she also controls the house itself!
Notice in "We Don't Talk About Bruno"... Dolores' verse is actually the most honest and sympathetic to Bruno, hence the truest depiction is his silhouette sneaking along upstairs while Dolores and Mirabel were downstairs. Also, if you notice Augustín, when he appears near the end of the song? He's not singing while setting the table, nor does Julieta even appear in the song. Luisa is busy grappling with her powers fading. The only person in Mirabel's immediate family that had anything to say about Bruno was Isabella.
I have, for some reason taken to watching reactions on this movie, not so much for the movie but watching how people react. You for example when Abuela was telling Mirabel to “make your family proud” awwwed……but several other reactors were like “warning warning will Robinson!!”. I guess it depends on the family dynamic growing up, but I too was like…..”I wish she hadn’t said that” because as you know now, Abuelas insistence on “making the family proud” by forcing people to be perfect was almost the familys destruction. In many families, that pressure to “make the family proud” tho it comes from a good place, has been a huge burden of expectation that people can’t always bear. And all that was telegraphed in that one simple line.
As soon as I started watching this movie I immediately recognized Stephanie Beatriz's voice (Rosa from Brooklyn Nine Nine) and the whole time I could only see her face instead of the animated main character Mirabel.
17:30 A detail: in Latin America, telling the couple that "it seems to rain" on their wedding day is wishing the couple that they are going to stay together for a short time. Sorry my english is not good
All the songs were great, but my favorites were... 1. All of you 2. Family Madrigal 3. Waiting on a miracle I love this movie to death, it was so well done and unexpected! So many of the characters (if not all of them) were relatable, the animation was gorgeous, so much to love! And I loved the reaction too, the edits, the jokes, the thoughts all are so fun! And we stan people who stan Bruno lol
I have seen a lot of TH-camrs/Reactors heavily stress on Antonio's gift, like talking to animals is SOOOO OP, but to me it is not, because... See... To me, TALKING to animals, and CONTROLLING animals are 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT things.
I can understand being upset at Bruno for the wedding one. Like if you tell anyone that is having a wedding outside that it looks like rain, they’ll be upset that it’s gonna ruin their wedding. If you know her power, why would you say that? I know he didn’t mean literally and was talking about her sweat, but It’s obvious her emotions changes quickly and easy.
I feel like I'm Bruno and Mirabel 😂😂😂😂. I relate a lot with those characters. Also Mirabel's mom... it's exactly like my mom 😍 but with all the responsibilities of being the oldest sister like Luisa and my mom's name is Luisa and physically my mom kinda looks like the character. I love this movie for showing all the diversity we have in all families from Latin America, we come from the darkest skin to the palest and all in the same family!.
I know you mentioned how Isabella's gift was a little lame because she sprouts flowers. Well, she can grow food if anything were to happen to the farms in the village. I really believe that the gifts are used to help protect the village it was ever to be attacked.
When i first watched the movie i was like if a house that came out nowhere invites you in would you still go in i say no and i am addicted to the songs this an amazing movie love the reaction looking forward for more.
"Not even Hufflepuff?" 😄 Also, thank you for being the first reactor I've seen for this movie that has invoked the words of Uncle Ben, or should I say "Abuela Ben"
I'm calling it. That women's fish died because she didn't have a proper tank for a goldfish. Bruno was just trying to help her see the error of fishbowls!!
I like the idea that none of those 3 random villagers were actually prophesies, he was just trying to tell her to take better care of her pets, the second guy that he needs to exercise more, and the 3rd one that his hairline was receeding.
It was my same headcanon that he was just a fish enthusiast who knew the bowl was terrible for fish, but then I remembered that he warned Mirabel before doing his vision in the movie, that she might not like it, and that she might blame him for her goldfish dying: so I took it that it was something that he actually looked into the future for (after he was asked to by the woman) but I 100% believe without a doubt that the guy with a gut didn’t ask for a vision, I think Bruno just saw him drinking beer and was like “you’re gonna grow a gut if you keep that up” 😂
Lin-Manuel Miranda really knows to write a well crafted, well executed song while also making it catching. With Moana, Hamilton, Vivo & others, he's a *musical phenomenon.*
Awww, that's the cutest reaction to Encanto I've ever seen. Sophie is so sweet, kind, emotional. And she has a cat! A big, fat, cute cat. And Sophie remembers Hogwarts. The perfect combination))) The best reaction. (Sorry for my English, I'm from Kazakhstan and I don't know your language very well).
i think it's not so much as people saying Bruno was a bad guy, or that everything wrong that happened was his fault, but the fact that whatever he predicted, it was inevitable. As long as he didn't make a prediction, the future was a mistery, but as soon as someone appeared in one of his predictions, then their future was settled. So, i think that it unsettedled people to appear in his visions, and considering he one day disappeared without a trace, it made people so nervous that prefered not to talk about it. Hence, "we don't talk about bruno". It's not that they hate him. It's just that they were nervous and afraid, because once he saw something, it was bound to happen, whetever it was a good thing or a bad one. If you think about, it is never said that people hated him, and he even made a couple of non-fatidical predictions, like Isabela's I mean, if Bruno were to tell me: "You'll get in a horrible accident", i would probably spend the rest of my life freaking out about it, because i would not know when it would happen, but i'd be sure i'd happen
Everyone: During the song Family Madrigal : OMG Isabella's power is beautiful 😍 After she smacked Mirabel in face: OMG Isabella's such a B*tch😡 After Isabella said she never wanted to get married : OMG poor Isabella😭

“It’s about their gift.” is kind of the point. Lin said Bruno also represents the uncle who makes family dinner awkward by spitting the unsettling truth.
yeah, this movie has the most chaotic dinner scene i've seen since shrek 2
i mean, uncles in dinners tends to spit racist stuff rather than unsettling truth

Can we talking about Bruno being a homie? Bruno resembles his father. He's selfless, loves his family enough to separate himself from them and 'sacrifice' himself if that means that his family would be happy. Just like his father did. He was even willing to take the blame for Mirabel after the house fell apart to save her from becoming him
He was described as Seven foot frame by Camilio (shape-shifting boy) probably because he was a kid and Bruno just seemed tall to him.

That and Camilio is kind of a troll, so exaggerating a spooky story is the sort of thing he'd do just for the hell of it.
I don’t know why people sleep on Isabella’s powers? She literally creates life out of NOTHING and controls all plant life. She can create vines strong enough to hold people. She can build cities, bridges, etc just by wanting it. Now she can create poisonous plants. She is badass.
She can grow flowers in your lungs and choke you to death
She's someone I respect so much because I relate to her a lot. She is badass.
Perfect replica/inspiration of Poison Ivy except this one is good😁
uhh... can solve world hunger...kinda important...
i love how Bruno is just this akward kinda introverted guy who loves doing silly jokes.
@@ARCtheCartoonMaster being sweaty is a weakness?🤨
@@ARCtheCartoonMaster He doesn't seem like the type to be able to read the room very well.
I like how at the beginning when they took a picture it was them using their gifts but at the end when they found more value in themselves then their gifts they take a picture without using their gifts
no one ever pays attention when mirabel tells us what brunos gift is in the first song or they don't remember 😔
Yeah, I didn't catch it until like the 4th time I heard the song.
It is a pretty fast paced song so I don't blame people for missing it.

@a.starribunni - same tbh lol
@Kokopium me too, even thought i catched bruno's blessing
The reconciliation scene made me cry. It's great to see someone who is old, proud and made sacrifices own up to their mistakes to someone they're supposed to be respected by, to someone who they had previously blamed for the things that went wrong. I don't see older people take responsibility often, especially in family.

@@mikshinee87 yeah but the thing is that it shouldn't be qnd people should
Talking about the blessings being curses, not gifts, I think you're right.
I'm pretty sure she can also make fruits and berries due to her gift, so it's really useful if you think about
She'd save the world lol
@@Sunette true imagine if we get a sequel where she helps the community by giving fruits and vegetables and also giving her mom some herbs too

Literally people just have to look at Poison Ivy
To be fair, Pepa doesn't have a great grip on her powers and someone telling her that it looks like rain would be enough to freak me out as well-
Not to mention how much pressure her mother put on her that day probably.
Also considering she just naturally seems to be an emotional person. Miracle kinda screwed her lol.
Fun fact: Bruno’s original name was going to be Oscar but that was changed to fit the song about him
Louisa originally didn’t have much of a character until the song creator was reminded of his sister with Louisa and thus the song “Surface Pressure” was created and things were changed to give Louisa more of a character

@@notavailable8201 The Queen Of The May...
You're right and her flowers can be the joy of landscape architects
She’s basically Poison Ivy.
Her gift is not her singing. It is her love of the family. She is the glue keeping it together.

You can tell they aren’t happy by their expressions.
BTW: In the song, they explain that Isabella is stuck being perfect (basically the golden child of the family)
Umm BTW: Which song?

There's a theory that I read that the Casita has the spirit of Abuelo Pedro, That's why it protects all of them.
The fish dying wasn’t even seeing the future, it’s just knowing that goldfish last like a week and a half! 😂 (so I’ve learned they can last years, which sounds insane to me, never heard of it. I guess we just don’t know how to properly care for them, and other factors ppl in the replies have brought up)
You can actually see Bruno in the background during Dolores’s part in We Don’t Talk About Bruno
My interpretation is that Mirabel will be the new matriarch after Abuela, who also doesn’t have a power. She’ll help keep the love going in the family and continue in Abuela’s place for the gift getting ceremony
Goldfish can actually live upwards of 10 years if cared for properly!
But I love the idea of Maribel becoming the next matriarch!!
goldfish live for like 10 years, they just die quickly becuase people dont know how to take care of them
@@deewildone1644 I was gonna come in to say that, but I’m thankful you said it already.
THIS REACTION IS PURE GOLD.. THANK YOU FOR THE RESPECT FOR THIS MOVIE, IS SO SPECIAL
There's an interesting Reddit theory I love that points out that each group of siblings & powers are divided into threes, i.e.:
*Julieta, Pepa, & Bruno* - powers are based on the past, present, & future
* Julieta cures wounds created in the past
* Pepa changes the weather in the present
* Bruno predicts the future
*Dolores, Camilo, & Antonio* - powers are based on the sayings hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil
* Dolores has super hearing powers
* Camilo can take on anyone’s appearance
* Antonio can understand animals
*Isabela, Luisa, & Mirabel* - powers are based on beauty, brawn, & brain
* Isabela produces beautiful plants
* Luisa is so strong that she can move buildings
* Mirabel doesn’t have powers like the rest, but she’s the brain that pieces everything together
The situation portraited in the beggining of the movie is real. Is an actual thing lived by tons of families in Colombia, in the past and now. It is good that now the world knows what happens. Love your review.

"Don't break my heart, Bruno."
And then the bit with the plate plays.

Kind of in connection to this, but you don't have to read if you don't want to:
Also, a lot of the roles that everyone ended up in were roles that they kept themselves in because they felt obligated to.
This is the result of sleeping for 4 hours for the past week help me -
BUT I'M HERE! And I'm READY! (and possibly hyped up on coffee)
Not you making a pact to not cry before the movie started.
Her: "I'm not gonna cry"
Me: laughs in sadistic pain
I wish we could have seen at least a brief glimpse of every family member's room (hopefully there will be a sequel for us to see them).
It would hv been cool to see Luisa's room early in the film (maybe w/ everything made of stone/ focused on her strength like the concept design), & then see Luisa's, Bruno's & Isabela's rooms *after* Casita is rebuilt, getting to see how they've changed w/ the new family dynamic, (i.e. Luisa given space to relax, & Isa having *all kinds* of plants, etc)
The fact bruno voiceactor is the same voiceactor of sid from ice age
oh god, what??
@@SophieLents yes ( also sorry for my bad grammar TwT)
@@SophieLents yup! Lol you can tell if you listen again 😂 I knew it the moment Bruno spoke.
my friend thought it was adam sandler and I was like MA’AM WHAT? then I lost it when I found out it was sid the sloth
Ah, in enumerating all the special people in and out of the movie, you forgot one! You are special too Sophie. Always great to see your reactions.
The raccoons are actually South American coatimundis. There are a number of interesting critters that show up due to the Colombian setting, like the tapir and the capybara.
its perfectly acceptable to be in love with Bruno he's objectively the best character
What's sad is people have parents like the grandma but they never learn the lesson and be mean until the day they die
I think Mirabel's gift is being a power source for the candle. You'll notice that cracks only appear when she is feeling sad or hopeless, and everything breaks down when she outright says Abuela doesn't care about the family, which must ha e been the most heartbreaking moment of her life.
I truly relate to Isabela (garden/flower girl) because of her character development. I get the expectation vs reality of her.
10:57 No. She didn't stop the time. It's a stylistic choice. I explained what I think the meaning is in a previous comment, so I will keep it brief. She is in her own mind and distancing herself.
"I'm not going to cry watching this movie."
Encanto: Challenge accepted.
Beginning "I promise I'm not gonna cry"
My immediate response "Oh you shouldn't have said that you will cry for sure now"
hey everyone! thanks for watching this video! appreciate y'all and your support ❤
now tell me your favorite songs from this movie!
p.s. We Don’t Talk About Bruno got claimed so I had to mute it, sorry 🙃
Uhm....... no lo se, es muy complicado elegir una, pero creo que mi favorita es el soundtrack "Colombia, mi encanto" la musica es pegajosa, el ritmo es movido y muy latina.
His (antonio is Pepas son)her cusin not her brother
SPOILER: Also Dolores tells Mirabel that Bruno is still here living in the walls.
Dos Oruguitas✌️ , it just hits diffrent y'know
D) She has the ability to control the house and the destiny of her entire family.
28:33 did you notice the house waved to her before they fell down? Like it was saying goodbye to her ;~;
I literally cried when the house protected her till the last moment, honestly the house was the best character, can't tell me otherwise
1. All of you
2. Family Madrigal
3. Waiting on a miracle
I love this movie to death, it was so well done and unexpected!
John Leguizamo as Bruno I love this dude especially in spawn
27:01 "You're now Lvl.2 gardening, congrats" I LOST IT, SORRY, BYE- 💀
Your editing and wit are superb, it makes for a very enjoyable viewing.
thank you!
I know you mentioned how Isabella's gift was a little lame because she sprouts flowers. Well, she can grow food if anything were to happen to the farms in the village. I really believe that the gifts are used to help protect the village it was ever to be attacked.
Yes, that's why they used it
When i first watched the movie i was like if a house that came out nowhere invites you in would you still go in i say no and i am addicted to the songs this an amazing movie love the reaction looking forward for more.
"Not even Hufflepuff?" 😄 Also, thank you for being the first reactor I've seen for this movie that has invoked the words of Uncle Ben, or should I say "Abuela Ben"
lmao "grandma ben"?
I had that "this movie is a masterpiece" moment too, the second time I watched it.
i've been watching encanto reactions for a reason to watch encanto over and over again XD
It was my same headcanon that he was just a fish enthusiast who knew the bowl was terrible for fish, but then I remembered that he warned Mirabel before doing his vision in the movie, that she might not like it, and that she might blame him for her goldfish dying: so I took it that it was something that he actually looked into the future for (after he was asked to by the woman)
but I 100% believe without a doubt that the guy with a gut didn’t ask for a vision, I think Bruno just saw him drinking beer and was like “you’re gonna grow a gut if you keep that up” 😂
Lin-Manuel Miranda really knows to write a well crafted, well executed song while also making it catching.
With Moana, Hamilton, Vivo & others, he's a *musical phenomenon.*
They could've for the most part changed their future. Changing eating habits, taking the fish to the vet or something
If you think about, it is never said that people hated him, and he even made a couple of non-fatidical predictions, like Isabela's
I mean, if Bruno were to tell me: "You'll get in a horrible accident", i would probably spend the rest of my life freaking out about it, because i would not know when it would happen, but i'd be sure i'd happen
"Am I fighting or hugging?!" -me whenever I decide to leave my house and interact with people on a daily basis.
Miracles and love are gifts to be appreciated without the need to be earned
Everyone:
During the song Family Madrigal : OMG Isabella's power is beautiful 😍
After she smacked Mirabel in face: OMG Isabella's such a B*tch😡
After Isabella said she never wanted to get married : OMG poor Isabella😭
The musics are 10/10 there is no single music that I hate in this movie it's so perfect
I think you’ll really love The Mitchell’s vs The Machines. It’s on Netflix and is easily my favorite animated movie of all time and is actually one of the Nominees for the best animated picture of the year alongside Encanto
