I went from playing double bogey golf to bogey golf my first round out since watching his videos. So I gained a stroke per hole and I hit all my irons pure for the first time ever and I've watched countless You Tube golfing videos! Thanks Tom, the tip on keeping the arms straight, and keeping your right arm tucked in close to the body and using your shoulders was a game changer.

I found your videos a while back and watched a few, was trying everything as a very high handicapper and decided to video my swing. It was terrible. Flying elbows, lead arm breaking down, backswing was way too long, etc then I saw a video of yours about shortening the swing. Did a deep dive into it, drills daily for a couple of weeks with no playing and it was the key for me. My tempo is way slower, backswing is much shorter, lead arm stays straight and everything stays in order. I have since played two rounds with a single ball which is quite an achievement for a guy that would carry an entire dozen, scores are coming down quickly but most importantly, contact has been nice and crispy! I caught myself falling into the old swing pattern but was able to self diagnose and correct it after a couple of poor shots by going back to the simple swing.
That's awesome!! I sincerely appreciate your kind words and I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you. Excellent job incorporating it into your swing!! This powerful, low-maintenance, body-friendly swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of blissful ball striking up to and including at the game's most elite levels. @@SagutoGolf Hey Tom, back from Aruba and went out to the range. OMG, the KFC crispiness was clicking. Out of 120 balls, I only duffed 10. The biggest improvement were in my fairway woods which are my nemesis. I was hitting the ball consistently. You were absolutely right that you use the same swing for every club. Huge Kudos to you Tom!!! You have truly helped me to enjoy golf again!!! Keep up the great content!!
Tom Your awesome I’ve switched to your swing and I’ve hit the ball so much better. I’m 70 years old and hitting my 7 iron 140 yards feels so good. Thank you from my heart. God bless.

One of the best tips that works great for me. Love it! Also love “swing slow” and also keeping more weight on lead foot during the swing…I use all 3 for long and short game swings…so far so good. Thanks Tom..I enjoy your approach for golf…serious fun.

just put your training to the test on the course with my wife whos also just started watching. nailed all my drives thanks to you. wife had solid iron shots her first time out by just applying your basics. as she practices she will def be solid. i havent practiced much irons but been watching your vids and ive been making actual contact to the point I have to adjust power now, not hope n pray! sending my hybrid off the deck with no issues and good distance. Thanks again for your knowledge. ill be taking your paid online lessons soon.

Excellent job as usual Tom! I like you suggestion of keeping the arms straight and pushing them away for a perfect swing! I have been trying this and at the same time keeping my right elbow in close to my side. What I need to do now to to activate the core and hips more in order to get a fuller turn and rotation through the ball! Always find something to be utilized in my golf game Tom! Keep up the good work!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, John!! As for activating the core and hips, it all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. For example, weight forward 55/45 (up to 60/40 with the longer clubs), both feet flared out approximately 20 degrees, and the knees similarly angled outward are prescribed setup features of the swing system I teach. This orientation provides for an unrestricted 45 degrees of tilted hip turn, at which point we only need to add another 45 degrees of shoulder turn for a full 90 degrees. The result is a centered, stress-free, flowing motion back and through, and a very body-friendly, consistent, powerful swing. To help you with this - and If you've not already worked through it - my FREE mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” would be a good place for you to learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ Have fun out there!! Tom you are a Superstar Relating this tip to Geometry is a really good concept Lead arm straight has led to much more consistency to my golf I’m 80 in November and hitting the ball further now than ever following your golf tips like “Ball Divot “ Does this apply to all my clubs including the Driver ?
I'm glad to know that this "geometry class" resonated with you, Phil!! Yes - This swing key also applies to the driver. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: th-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/w-d-xo.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content. First golf swing was 2 months ago, hitting the ball was a gamble with most of the time I ended up digging up turf more than anything else. After watching this I went to the backyard with my club and would you look at that, double bent arm. Went through your drills and kept that badboy straight, swing felt fluid and comfortable. Put a ball down and the sound it made when it hit the ball was glorious; I've never heard that before. Shot after shot was variation of clean (with a few tops and duffs of course) but holy heck it was bordering perfection. Thank you for this and all our lessons on your website.

Tom, another great video lesson!! I’m saying that because after my first nine holes of my round my lead arm was breaking down and my drives, irons and everything went everywhere and I was frustrated. On the back nine, I focused on weight on keeping my weight forward and my lead arm straight and I can tell you that I was hitting my drives 50 yards further than I ever have and on a 525 yard par 5 and using the same technique with my 3 hybrid for the first time in many years I was reaching the green on my second shot. So Thank you again for making golf fun for me at 63yrs old. I need to brush up my putting stroke but now but I’ll take a par on any par 5 now instead of a snowman

Hey Tom..so glad I found you!! I’ve learned so much and I’m trying cuz I’ve basically just started my golf journey. Over the years I played for fun..but got my first lesson finally..and instead of going back..I’m wanting you as my instructor all the time!! Dumb question?? Are my hands (inside) suppose to change from address through the swing etc? Like glued so I don’t turn or quiet and simple? Feels like they don’t hinge if I do that
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Bryan, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you!! If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper wrist action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. Simple, sound instruction. While there are many technical aspects to the golf swing, consolidating those aspects into one thought at address is key to hitting quality shots when it matters. Tom's strength as an instructor is simplifying a very complex game.
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Jeff, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. Yes indeed - establishing the proper presets at address essentially eliminates swing-wrecking variables and enables us to then put the swing on autopilot, without the clutter of mechanical thoughts. Tom, I have the straight lead arm swing and it provides longer carry. Now I am hitting the ball on the toe of the club as opposed to mainly the center of the club face. Will this correct over time. Some history, I have been unable to hit any balls for three(3) years due to injuries but I am anxious to get back in this wonderful game. I will be obtaining one of your memberships as your applications make sense. My previous hdcp was 4. Thank you! Joe Duffy👍

Hi Tom! I’m loving all the videos. I’m hitting the ball straighter and more purely using this method. However, I seem to not have much distance with my irons. What am I doing wrong?
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Seth, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you! Typically, once this swing is properly running on autopilot golfers experience significant increases in length. If you are relatively early in the process you are likely still ingraining your "feels" and thinking mechanical thoughts. When you develop sufficient confidence in the motion that you are comfortable "giving up control", you'll be able to just trust it and let it fly. At that point you'll have made that giant leap from playing "golf swing" to playing target-focused golf, and by then you should be seeing your yardages increase through the bag. Hey Tom. Love your videos. They’ve helped me a lot! I just noticed a little nuance to your swing. Maybe you’ve mentioned it before but I just noticed that you cock your head back to the right and seem to be staring at the ball with your left eye. Is this head movement to allow more shoulder turn? Are you left eye dominant? Am I reading to much into it? Thanks for all you do!
I'm glad you're enjoying my content, Tyler! What you are referring to is a personal nuance, similar to Jack Nicklaus I suppose. The key is that while the head cocks or rotates slightly, it does not leave it's positional coordinates preestablished at address. In fact, despite his noticeable head move, Mr. Nicklaus said his most important swing key was to keep his head in place throughout the swing motion. That was the topic of this episode: th-cam.com/video/E5csidjztzg/w-d-xo.html So yes - don't read much into this, and just know that there is built-in leeway for such individuality in this system! I'm glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you, Bob! My main concerns with regard to grip are that the handle remains secure in the fingers throughout the entirety of the motion and that the proper hinging and unhinging of the wrists is fully supported without any contrived effort. Beyond that, each golfer is free to add their own individual flair and determine what works best for them. If you enter the word "grip" in my channel's search bar you should be able to find some related content. Literally spent hundreds of dollars a decade ago working on wrist rotation and thinking of 100 different things in my rotation. (3 lessons were spent just on my wrists) Ended up quiting golf for awhile. I'm so happy golf is being taught in a simplistic manner. Just keep the left arm straight and the body will do the rest (wrist turn and right arm bend)
I sincerely appreciate your kind words and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content is resonating with you and providing clarity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. You are absolutely correct - if we pre-establish the connections and the straight lead arm properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. @@SagutoGolf Just telling the truth as this old guy of 66 sees it. Played this crazy game all my life and have always shot in the high 90’s. Now I am in the mid to lower 80’s and it’s not because I stopped 3 putting. It’s because of the way and what you teach us. I have also worked on the grip and I am simply amazed how one small adjustment can make such a huge change. This is all on you. I have hit some pretty amazing shots lately. I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating with you! The key here is get to - but not go beyond - your body's natural stopping point in the backswing where the tilting, turning, and extending motions are complete, the lead arm has crossed the chest 45 degrees, and the wrists are properly set (preferably with a flat or slightly bowed lead wrist). This is the point where if we were to try to go any further any or all of the following will occur: 1) the lead arm will bend and/or lift 2) the wrists will break down 3) the lead knee will kick inward towards the trail side 4) the lead shoulder will level out and lose its orientation towards the ball 5) weight will shift into the trail side and bring the low point back with it, resulting in inconsistent contact and unpredictable ball flight. 6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact 7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury We don't need to try to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting your body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues. If you execute this swing properly you will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that will enable you to harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". By the way, you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. Nice Vid, Tom. Do you have any drills to teach right elbow discipline with the Driver? I have a bad habit of "shooting" my right arm out when using that club, and it's difficult to correct. Thank you!
Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it! Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following: 1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact. This is common with the driver as the wider stance means that the hips have a greater distance to travel. If the hips stop moving laterally towards the target on the downswing then their rotation takes over, inhibiting any further necessary forward weight loading (we should be 80/20 forward halfway down, 90/10 at impact, and 95/5 in the finish), changing the low point and rerouting the club into a steeper angle of attack (AoA). This can produce a variety of undesirable results including fat and thin contact, topped shots and popups, straight pulls, and “banana” slices. Of great importance is keeping your upper torso/head in place (in other words, not moving towards the target from a face-on view) while the hips execute the lateral slide action. This preserves the swing center and the desired shallow AoA. 2) They are not allowing the length of the club to dictate the backswing path and are getting too steep as a result. The shaft of the driver is considerably longer than the other clubs and thus requires more of an around the body backswing as established by the shaft plane at address. It may "feel" flat as they take it back along the shaft plane for the first few feet, but as long as they maintain the "weight forward, shoulder down, and hands in" components while allowing the club to work around them, it should put them in the proper position at the top so they can attack the ball from the inside. (A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".) 3) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact. So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down. In fact, the PGA Tour average with the driver is actually minus (e.g.: downward) 1.5 degrees - nearly level - and it should feel level - but slightly down nonetheless. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws ) Beyond that, the online school will provide the tools you need to start mashing the driver. I'm glad you enjoyed it, Steve! I personally just look at the top of the ball as I find that helps me to keep my head in place throughout the motion - a very important swing key for consistency. Tom- thank you for your excellent instruction. I’ve made those same excuses many time thinking I’ll never be able to get a full backswing because I can’t keep my lead arm straight. Hi Tom, I can keep my arm straight throughout the backswing, but at the start of transition to downswing, it almost always bends for a split second. What’s with that?
It's difficult to say without actually seeing it, Edward. Perhaps your torso is rotating prematurely at the transition and causing the lead arm to break down? Video should help you to figure out the cause. By the way, here's a link to my FREE mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” in case you’re interested in learning some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ Tom
I this system the stance width increases incrementally as we move from short irons up to the longer clubs, with the widest being for the driver in which the insides of the heels are approximately shoulder-width apart. This provides for a stable base while also facilitating a balanced athletic motion. By the way, here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ Tom
I've been working on your swing method and having success. The only problem is, when I'm at the driving range, the longer I hit my driver the more I begin to hook it. Any thoughts?
I'm very glad to learn of your improvement, Sandy! It's difficult to diagnose a "hook" without seeing/knowing the characteristics of your swing and actual ball flight. I can only suggest that if it is a pull-hook then your downswing path may have steepened, perhaps due to the hips prematurely stopping their lateral targetward action and thereby allowing the rotational component to take over. If it's a push-hook then a couple of possibilities are that the clubface is too closed to the path and/or the path is too shallow. FYI, there are entire sections of my online school dedicated to diagnosing and resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? The two are not mutually exclusive, Larry, and I do mention in this video how the trail arm folds. So keep the lead arm straight while maintaining the trail arm connection as demonstrated here: th-cam.com/video/GQI6SoL1AUg/w-d-xo.html Tom
Hi James, It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. The result is a centered, stress-free, flowing motion back and through, and a very body-friendly, repeatable, powerful swing. In the world of golf, I'm Tom Saguto, Here's a tip that'll make your shots go "woo-hoo"! Keep your left arm straight, don't let it bend, And those crispy, juicy shots you'll surely send! No floppy elbows, oh no, not a chance, Keep the pits pointing out, it's true romance. With arms so straight, you'll feel like a pro, Sending balls soaring, with the perfect flow! Your friends will be amazed, mouths hanging wide, As your ball takes flight, with a graceful stride. No more banana shots, slicing away, Just straight as an arrow, right down the fairway! So practice away, with this tip in mind, And you'll leave those golfing struggles far behind. Remember, my friends, it's all in the arms, "Juicy shots" await, bringing golfing charms!
Tom you don't have any videos of you actually playing golf and you have one of the most crisp sounds & repeatable swings online. What is it going to take to get you in a "VS ROUND" with someone so we see it in action vs just nice strikes? Hitting shots isn't playing golf. Just hitting shots doesn't make a person a Single Digit player. I SAY ALL THIS WITH LOVE. I LOVE YOUR SWING BUT WANT TO SEE IF YOU CAN TAKE TEACHING TO SHOWING TO SHOW US 75 or less with No "RESHOTS". 🤣 Whatcha got Saguto??? I'm rooting for ya.. 😆
LOL! I wish I had time to do that. Perhaps some day. You obviously have not seen my golf swing. I don’t think I could inspire folks with my advice. In fact, I make it a point not to give advice to my golfing buddies, except maybe to recommend they check out your videos.
Tom, I’ve turned to your swing and I’ve been hitting the ball great. It’s actually pretty easy following your directions. Oh and by the way I’m 70 and I’m hitting my seven iron 140 yards Have a blesses day. Love all you do.
Push the arms away, hit it great all day? Good feel but I’m not retaining the angle in the right arm long enough, my left arm works fine in the swing but I end up losing speed with the right arm getting straight too soon in the downswing. I try tucking in the right elbow, mixed results, just can’t find a feel that makes the right arm work correctly…
No way Tom nor anybody else can tell you that without looking at your swing. But there is one central fact. If your club face and swing path are square at the moment of impact, the ball will fly straight (in whatever direction). If they are not aligned, the ball will get some degree of sidespin and will curve in flight. Hope this helps!
The answer lies in ball flight laws. Clubface angle relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line, and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. From there we can then do some reverse engineering to identify and neutralize the cause of a sideways shot. By the way, there are entire sections of my online school dedicated to diagnosing and resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Thousands of folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Beyond that, if you simply cannot keep the lead arm straight at all, then we just need to figure it out within your limitations. For starters, here's a link to my FREE mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” in case you’re interested in learning some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ Tom

In a previous video from 3 years ago ( th-cam.com/video/x1IudE_9e5g/w-d-xo.html) you talk about sliding your hips forward on the downswing which shallows the club and then turning. But you haven’t mentioned that here. Do you still suggest doing that?
Absolutely! Here is another more recent lesson on that topic: th-cam.com/video/I5XYgKopTb4/w-d-xo.html It is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. It may very well be that you are not allowing your shoulders to work as they should. If your lead shoulder stops moving in the backswing then the lead arm has no alternative than to break down unless you completely disconnect the trail arm from your side, which is also not advisable. Have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? You still look stiff. You shouldn't push your arms back. You sling them back with your pivot and keep them straight by pulling on the grip up and down like pulling a rope taught. Do it gently, with not a lot of force. As it is being slung back, try to keep your rt.arm straight. Your left arm acts as a check-reign and allows your left arm to fold exactly 45 degrees. This is from"The Golfing Machine,"Homer Kelly's book. He called it extensor action to produce the magic of the rt. Forearm perfectly bent to 90 degrees. Complicated? Yes. You have to do something to get it back there on every swing so why not get it right, practice it into a feel and you will be half way to hitting consistently long and straight.

Your awesome I’ve switched to your swing and I’ve hit the ball so much better. I’m 70 years old and hitting my 7 iron 140 yards feels so good. Thank you from my heart. God bless.

Tom

Tom you are a Superstar
Relating this tip to Geometry is a really good concept
Lead arm straight has led to much more consistency to my golf
I’m 80 in November and hitting the ball further now than ever following your golf tips like “Ball Divot “
Does this apply to all my clubs including the Driver ?

@@SagutoGolf Way ahead of you, already signed up for my first month!
That's fantastic, Jerry!! Excellent job regaining your swing focus mid-round and putting it into play on the fly!!
Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and enjoyment, and keep up the great work!!

Thank you!

Hi Joe,
I'm very glad to know that you are getting back into this greatest of games, and I look forward to seeing you soon in the school!
I firmly believe that if you work through school properly and sequentially as designed your toe hits will resolve themselves. If not, then there are drills and other means available within the school for addressing and correcting impact and ball flight issues.
Let's get you back to that 4 and then some!!

Beyond that, if you'd really like to get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, structured, sequential platform, please consider my online school.
That was the topic of this episode: th-cam.com/video/E5csidjztzg/w-d-xo.html
So yes - don't read much into this, and just know that there is built-in leeway for such individuality in this system!

Love your work Tom. Can you show a video on your grip. My club face tends to wander, results, not good, bottom of swing arc changes.

With golf lessons being almost 100 bucks a pop an hour and no guarantee of anything I am happy to be a 2 year student of yours and can go back to the website anytime I want and review any part of your program I want. You are informative and entertaining at the same time.
I love the way you answer everyone’s questions personally and that means a lot to me. Thank You.
Love concept and all your videos. I had shoulder replacement surgery 11 months ago(left shoulder) so is a problem “ keeping straight “ for long Not sure how to compensate
This is the point where if we were to try to go any further any or all of the following will occur:
1) the lead arm will bend and/or lift
2) the wrists will break down
3) the lead knee will kick inward towards the trail side
4) the lead shoulder will level out and lose its orientation towards the ball
5) weight will shift into the trail side and bring the low point back with it, resulting in inconsistent contact and unpredictable ball flight.
6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact
7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury
We don't need to try to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting your body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues.
It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
Have you looked into the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Nice Vid, Tom. Do you have any drills to teach right elbow discipline with the Driver? I have a bad habit of "shooting" my right arm out when using that club, and it's difficult to correct. Thank you!
Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following:
1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact.
(A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".)
3) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws )

Tom, excellent! Where are your eyes on the swing?
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Steve!
I personally just look at the top of the ball as I find that helps me to keep my head in place throughout the motion - a very important swing key for consistency. That's me. Some have success focusing on a particular quadrant of the ball or even a specific dimple. Still others do well with concentrating on a spot in front of the ball. You have to figure out what works best for you and your tendencies.

Tom- thank you for your excellent instruction. I’ve made those same excuses many time thinking I’ll never be able to get a full backswing because I can’t keep my lead arm straight. But you’re giving me hope I can do it! I just hit the range and did what you said and I did hit the ball a lot better. You also had me on the floor with the “clown swing.” “Now for my next trick…” 😂 I can relate to that too. Here’s to pushing those arms away, keeping that lead arm straight, turning those shoulders and hips, and keeping that trail arm bent until after contact. Long live the crispy KFC.

Getting lateral on the driver and keeping arms straight w driver seems much more difficult. Irons are great. Any tips w driver?
Hi Steve,
It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods.
Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following:
1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact.
(A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".)
3) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws )

@@SagutoGolf good info- thank you very much!
Rob my swing feels very short when doing this. Is it ok to lift my left heel?
I'm not sure who "Rob" is, Jay, but I (Tom) can answer your question this way: A significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. *_It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion._* Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
The key here is get to - but not go beyond - your body's natural stopping point in the backswing where the tilting, turning, and extending motions are complete, the lead arm has crossed the chest 45 degrees, and the wrists are properly set (preferably with a flat or slightly bowed lead wrist).
If you execute this swing properly you will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that will enable you to harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum".

Tom, I have noticed that your stance is wide; what are the advantages of that wide stance?
I this system the stance width increases incrementally as we move from short irons up to the longer clubs, with the widest being for the driver in which the insides of the heels are approximately shoulder-width apart. This provides for a stable base while also facilitating a balanced athletic motion.

I've been working on your swing method and having success. The only problem is, when I'm at the driving range, the longer I hit my driver the more I begin to hook it. Any thoughts?
check your grip and make sure you are not opening or closing your club face at impact.

Tried your tips but seem to sway a bit. If I try not to sway there’s not much shoulder turn😳😳
Hi James,
It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. The result is a centered, stress-free, flowing motion back and through, and a very body-friendly, repeatable, powerful swing.

In the world of golf, I'm Tom Saguto,
Here's a tip that'll make your shots go "woo-hoo"!
Keep your left arm straight, don't let it bend,
And those crispy, juicy shots you'll surely send!
No floppy elbows, oh no, not a chance,
Keep the pits pointing out, it's true romance.
With arms so straight, you'll feel like a pro,
Sending balls soaring, with the perfect flow!
Your friends will be amazed, mouths hanging wide,
As your ball takes flight, with a graceful stride.
No more banana shots, slicing away,
Just straight as an arrow, right down the fairway!
So practice away, with this tip in mind,
And you'll leave those golfing struggles far behind.
Remember, my friends, it's all in the arms,
"Juicy shots" await, bringing golfing charms!
I really think you missed your calling, Bob. So glad you're taking it out on me.......😆😆

I’ve turned to your swing and I’ve been hitting the ball great.

Tom... Why do I keep hooking the ball?
th-cam.com/video/aLai9v2F0vM/w-d-xo.html
This worked tremendously for me!!

It may very well be that you are not allowing your shoulders to work as they should. If your lead shoulder stops moving in the backswing then the lead arm has no alternative than to break down unless you completely disconnect the trail arm from your side, which is also not advisable.

I thought you would keep that private Tom, I told you in confidentiality that I cry myself to sleep because of bad golfshots.

I'm deeply sorry about exposing your secret...... 😩
How can I possibly repay you?.......🙄🤔 I know - my FREE mini course - “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” - where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner. Here's a link in case you’re interested in checking it out: go.saguto.golf/ 😎
Now, let's get you out of that abyss and into the wonderful world of consistent ball striking bliss!!

To emphasis this topic, a down the line view would have been greatly appreciated.
Hi Rick,
I appreciate your feedback. I do offer different view perspectives when I can. but it's not always feasible for me to change angles and such when I'm out there filming myself.
Beyond that, it is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. Web site not working for members should have stayed with the old system never had a problem
I'm sorry for your issue, Barry. It is an isolated one, however, as the platform has been working fine.
Please reach out to support@noodle.shop and they will resolve things for you.
Thanks,
Tom
