      Killing beavers without survival needs is a sin, and it should be a crime. Those beavers do 10X the amount of work you do to maintain wetlands where the wild things you eat can live and grow, and when you kill them in the name of your human , predatory community, it's only a matter of time before your fellow humans bulldoze and exterminate wholesale the nature you have been a guest of.There were clearly other animals for you to hunt that would have required more effort and time to find and bag. The fact that you were able to load that bear right into the back of that car tells me the exact amount of effort you put into your claim as woodsmen. You, sir, are not a longhunter. You are a scalper whose motives are clearly destructive, and everywhere you go, you will repatriate wilderness into homesteads and fields, first by taking the lives of that which moves in the name of your quest for motion, and then by taking the lives of those things which stand still in the name of a quest to settle down. You have been unfollowed.

    • @HFGCS
      @HFGCS 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Killing a beaver to show an example of how to survive on beaver meat only creates a generation of people going out and killing beavers. It's not a justification, it's an attempt to game views through nostalgia and childish desire for hunting verisimilitude.

    Very few people know how to use the slow evaporation method for gathering salt from salt water. Anyone along the coast is blessed as other than this, you have to find a salt lick, an alkali flat, or a salt mine. Salt was a major trade item as a result. People think you boil seawater but that wastes too much in work calories and firewood. The evaporation method is essentially what people see briefly in salt harvesting videos. One can just take seawater and over time, the water evaporates until eventually just sodium chloride is the vast bulk of the "salt" that remains (versus other salts).

    Recall that in South East Alaska, the old time native method to “preserve” salmon, was to bury it and allow it to “ferment”. With modern influences of plastic Tupperware, natives would use it for their salmon storage. Problem was, Tupperware excluded oxygen, which allowed for conditions promoting botulism which then killed anyone who consumed the meat. Seeing your meat buried in plastic brought this to mind.

      Steven Gonzalez I think earth worms would be the least of the problems. Think about it, fermented fish. I am guessing they were able to keep the fly maggots out, possibly, maybe, and it is my understanding that earth worms were an import from europe, having gone extinct after the last ice age, so were not an issue until later, but even if I am wrong, just think about it, fermented fish. yum. I’d rather eat the earth worms.

    How do bear and/or beaver taste? + have you ever tried to make clothing out of animal hide by brain tanning (or any kind of tanning really, it's just that in the wilderness brain tanning is probably the easiest)

    Try cook the apples like it was potatoes, just check them for rotten or worms, put them in the pan with skin and all, brown sugar if u have, add water until half the apples and let them cook until the water evapored (if u put sugar dont let them cook to long sugar will start to burn quickier). After they are cooked u can easly peel them, no calories and time wasted peeling them.

    • @TheWoodedBeardsman
      @TheWoodedBeardsman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Uhhh, that might work with store bought ones, but these are riddled with rot and worms. Plus sugar is not permitted in all wilds challenge.

    The quality of your editing has consistently improved as I've followed your channel. I love seeing all the inventive and well presented content you have to offer. I've learned a ton from you. I'm curious what kind of licensing you need in Canada to hunt such a wide variety of game. You seem to have hit a good sweet spot where lots of stuff is in season at the same time. Here in Missouri, there are parts of the year when there aren't a whole lot of in season game to hunt (not to dish on Missouri)

    • @TheWoodedBeardsman
      @TheWoodedBeardsman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fall is when most everything is in season, fish to game. Big and small. We need to have licenses for each kind of game. The fall was the ideal time to do it, just never had anyone available until now.

    That cramping and nausea that happens when you go into the bush can be ameliorated a bit by increasing dietary fiber. Your gut flora really need it to survive, and besides it makes your poo transit your intestines easier. The less you mess with your gut flora, then the less you're messing with your immune system, and the less likely you are to get actually sick too.

    • @DiarioCarnivoro
      @DiarioCarnivoro 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrong. Fiber is NOT needed in any way. I guess it's more an electrolyte thing: magnesium, potassium, sodium, chloride..

    Great video guys, love watching these. Im surprised about the beaver meat, maybe try cooking less meat but a variety of styles so its like having a new meal each time. Food all looks so good. Last year was my first time in years doing my trap lines again and caught a bunch of beavers, I was shocked how amazing the quality of meat is. Im about to start muskrat trapping once deer season is over next week and will try them as well, I hear from old time trappers they are really sweet and delicious so we will see. Great video again take care.
