The floods seemed severe, I heard about them even on our news stations. The loss of life is always the worst part, but I felt relief that the floods pulled back really quickly. I'm glad to see and hear you were okay and thank you for the vlog! That moment of watching out the window while the storm rages and listening to Taylor... *chef's kiss*
the saddest part is that a few of the deaths could have been avoided if proper steps were taken by the city/government :( i hope that next time this happens we dont make those mistakes again!!
Catching up with your videos from the summer and am always glad to find them! Also experienced heavy rain recently (although less tragic and dramatic), and, as I was in a cafe, it actually started pouring in the other part of the historical building in which it was situated. Still had time to enjoy my coffee but it was definitely an odd experience to hear the waterfall that was this leak and to see the staff of all the different shops running around

I’m glad that you guys were safe from the flooding. I’m so sorry for those that lost their lives. It always amazes me that there could be so much rain and flooding in certain regions and then other countries, states, and regions are experiencing multiple decade long drought. Europe and western USA are in desperate need of rain.

I've been visiting Seoul for the past few weeks and the floods did not affect me whatsoever - the buses and subway were still working, everything was open. Still a cool trip so don't worry about visiting in the summer ☺️

Your comment about wanting to study Korean so you can talk to Ajumma's is soooo relatable. Before I moved to Korea I had this fantasy about befriending all my elderly neighbours so that they would take me in and give me vegetables from their gardens lmao needless to say it hasn't happened yet because I'm too scared to talk to them. However whenever I have a successful conversation or interaction with a random stranger in Korean I feel sooooooo gratified. Thanks for sharing your learning journey. I'm getting back into taking classes myself so seeing that you're also studying is very motivating! Keep it up!

That is an incredible amount of rain.
My family and I live in the mountains and that kind of downpour is an everyday occurrence around mid-August till the end of the month. September is when it gets unbearable to move around but watching this vlog, with the thunder, rain, wind, and beautiful clouds, made my autumn heart so happy. Thank you, Cari, for this vlog, it felt like a meditation for me (I know I know, this sounds weird hahaha).

I stumbled on your channel when I searched for an Ansan vlog (because I was there during the first week of August). Thanks for the video! I was just in Korea for the first time, primarily Seoul/Gimpo/Jecheon, from Aug. 9th-20th and recognized some of the places you filmed in! I was also greeted with the heavy rainfall immediately upon my entrance into Korea haha. I’m interested in following along with your journey of learning Korean; I’m aiming to learn a good amount of it myself as it will make it way easier to communicate with my boyfriend’s family without needing him to translate!

Also with Hola Korean should one be able to identify the letters and sounds prior to enrolling in the conversational class? Thank you for your videos ! I could watch daily if you could post daily. How do Seoul showers compare to rainstorms in the major US and European cities you've been to? Is it rain is rain is rain no matter where you go (other than the amount humidity)? Or do they feel different simply because of architecture and street design unique to each place?
the rain im used to in the US usually breaks the humidity and the weather feels nice for a bit after a storm but in Korea the humidity never ends lol plus it lasts a lot longer than rainstorms in US's summer :/

When you started talking abt going to concerts alone, I had to laugh bc I bought a bunch of tickets to see bands live now that it's a bit safer to go to concerts again and out of the 6 shows I'm going to, I'll be alone at 4 and I'm kind of scared abt it but I'm also so sick of not going to concerts I really want to go to just bc I have no one to go with🥲

OMG Cari!!! I can't believe you just mentioned vertigo! I recently had that happen to me and had no idea it can be because of watching lots of video! I was literally sitting at my computer, reading the news when the room just suddenly spun a couple of times. This happened a few months ago. I've had very mild symptoms of it ever since. I've never had anything like this before, and had no idea what could cause it. I've started seeing a specialist who's been helping me with exercises that are supposed to help.
I spend a lot of time in front of a computer, and in between it's not unusual for me to be on my phone or playing video games for entertainment. Now that I'm thinking about it, I do spend a lot of time looking at screens. When you have these episodes, does it go away when you're out doing things, or is it always there to some degree? I think I'm going to try going out and walking or doing something else more often besides look at a screen. Maybe take more breaks more often. I REALLY hope this is the cause and can be managed. Thank you SO MUCH for being the honest, real you that you are, and being willing to share just regular, ordinary things that aren't necessarily fun or glamorous. You're a peach!
yes!! sometimes for me what sets it off is if im working on my computer and im resting it on my leg so the monitor is moving slightly as i work? that is a sure way to throw me off haha but definitely look up 'cyber sickness' and check out eye exercises to help stretch while you're looking at screens! i find that it only effects me when im not taking care of myself properly :/ also when my eyes get dry so try eye drops :)
@@caricakes Thank you SO MUCH! I just looked that up, and that's exactly what I've been experiencing. This is great. At least now I know what the cause is, and can do something about it. What I think it may also be, is the fact that video screens scan; they're not stable even though it seems as though they are. The scan lines are moving so fast that it appears as though the image is solid but the lines are rapidly scanning constantly. Maybe after hours of looking at this, you get optical fatigue. Our eyes must be trying to follow the movement of the scan lines in micro amounts, so after hours of this, they get tired because it's both horizontal movement and focus movement. Your body isn't moving, but your eyes are tracking rapid micro movement, so maybe at some point you get a form of motion sickness.

Feeling like youre going to pass out is not normal. Cari if you read this please take this seriously and get a diagnosis. Dont stop until you find out what you have.
