WOW, what a great scenic review, just luv the way that you merge the before and after shots, as it really does highlight the differences very well! Regards from the UK :-)
You're videos are absolutely fantastic. I have no doubt that your channel will continue to grow exponentially with this type of quality of content. Well done!
Again, these are the best reviews that you can find out there regarding MSFS 2020, both regarding aircraft and scenery, hopefully developers will listen to the constructive criticism than NOTAM provides and at the end of the day all of us will have an even better flightsim experience. Thank you NOTAM!
Great review. My only problem with this scenery is whether or not you will be flying to or from Innsbruck enough to justify the extra cost. This goes for all add on airports, not just this one. Personally, I think the original scenery is more than acceptable for the amount of time that I'll be in that area, but I can understand regular flyers, to that area, buying this airport. It also concerns me that all these add ons are eating away at your storage space. One of the biggest pluses of this sim is the fact that data is streamed in on the fly, saving storage space, so you need to pick and choose your add ons carefully. As well as the storage cost is the monetary cost and buying lots of airports, or scenery packages, soon adds up. There's no doubt that, besides the car park textures, Orbx has done a terrific job here, it's just not worth 20 dollars for me :) The only airport that I've purchased is London City, because that's where my base is set up in Onair.
Thanks Ivan, I think many share your comments. I wouldn't have normally bought the majority of sceneries personally. That being said I'd jump on any scenery that is in my local area.
I knew I had seen the correct runway lighting on a scenery before. We discussed this in one of your previous videos lol. This is the airport 😁 I cannot hate on Microsoft/Asobo for not making scenery as good as Orbx. Orbx have one job to do. Make beautiful scenery. And they do, so to compare Asobo's effort is a bit unfair in the nicest possible sense lol. Asobo did a great job of recreating LOWI, its just that Orbx have many years experience, put their best designers on the case, and came up with something jaw dropping. Asobo were a close second. The thing that stands out to me the most is just how lucky we are, that Microsoft put a great team together, that created a game changing platform for scenery developers to create pieces of software like Orbx LOWI. Handshakes all round 🤝🤝 Another great review buddy. You're getting very good at this. Some great camera work. Everyone in this video used their A game 😁
Nice review. Makes you want to fly in, get in a car and just drive around. Maybe stop at a bar and have a virtual pint of Larger. Perhaps in future Truck Simulator with be compatible with flight sim and we can all get stuck in traffic on the way to the airport whilst admiring the scenery. 😀😀😀
I find it difficult to compare performance as I find a big difference in how someone has their system setup. If you are close to being main thread (CPU) limited, you will find a large difference around scenery upgrades. I'm not very CPU limited and see little difference. It depends so much on system setup that I feel it's too difficult to gauge in the reviews.
Already had this on FSX, now have it on MSFS2020, and last week bought it for FS2 to fly VR helicopters. Love turning the weather down and hand flying using the various approach procedures.
Absolute amazing review. I really like your reviews. I couldn’t agree more on your statement about parking lots having satellite images as a source, I can honestly not believe developers consider that as good.
Once again, a great review Dave, thank you. Your perspective on default hand-crafted and 3rd party addon scenery helps me better qualify/quantify how to spend my money given the large number of addons coming our way (and my limited budget). It seems that FS2020 has raised the bar on both addon scenery and aircraft since it's never been this good out of the box (default). Additionally, the shareware being developed since August is impressive and that is also raising that bar. On the other hand, the market that FS2020 has and continues to create has never been this big, so good quality products stand to get better returns than they did before. I'm no expert and may be missing other aspects, but thought I'd share some thoughts on where things seem to be headed for us and its good. Given the large number of products coming our way, your reviews are of high value. I encourage you to expand your presence.
This is one I have and it is very good indeed. it's great to see the little problems when you compare it, like that parking lot, something you don't know or see until you compare it that way. they could have done better. The package would have been perfect. I love the ski jumping area :) Great video, I just would have loved to see a winter comparison to see how ORBX handles the snow on their structures.
Thank you for this in-depth review, really well done! I have now seen several of your reviews and I really appreciate both your honesty, thoroughness and craftsmanship. I have not bought any add-on scenery yet for FS2020, mainly because the default is already so good. But this one looks tempting.
A perfect review. I think i have to see more from you. I´ve bought the scenery without taking a closer look, because ORBX is a garant for such work. Take a look at Firenze from Gaya under the ORBX-Sign. It´s wonderfull. I will take a closer look to the parkinglots, because i´m interessted if the MSFS.Version wins from 500 oder 15000 ft. Nice work!
Good review. I prefer the MSFS hand crafted version. Orbx are still using FSX type objects. There cartoon people stood on the balcony are the same as FSX and in my opinion, distract from the illusion of reality.
@@cgeorge1969 Definitely getting to Kelowna, GTA Freeware and CNC3 (especially CNC3 as its my home airfield). Waiting for the developer who I'm in contact with to finish CNC3
@@cgeorge1969 Nice... small world :) I'm waiting for his go ahead as he asked me to hold off until he has his pro version of CNC3 complete. I'm looking forward to it. Will have to try to keep my objectivity in check when reviewing the airfield I want most. Not much of a review if I just keep saying awesome, awesome, awesome... :) lol.
Thanks for the great review NOTAM, so close to perfection ... what is frustrating is the so many individuals fall under the ORBX camp that there seem to be wild variations within the quality. How often do small things like those ground textures get updated? I don't see much in the way of updates to scenery or am I wrong? :)
They have always been near the top of my list in prior generations. They have made a few missteps with MSFS so far, but this one definitely isn't one of them. I love this package.
its a beautiful looking airport - I agree, I want my airports to look used, not cartoon looking! Good point on the outside the terminal - we don't have to be 100% true to life at the expense of poor quality. I would not by it (yet) MAINLY as its not one I tend to consider or use! Great and considered review though, thank you again. Wish Orbix (?) had taken some effort when they made the London landmarks pack - so bad that they pulled some of their changes to put back the MS versions. I also think - as you comment - there is a lot to say for adding some surrounding scenery to add to the experience. I don' NECESSARILY want my airport to look identical - I don't personally know enough about them (but this comment maybe controversial)
Love your reviews! So detailed and relaxing chat ..excellent! Thanks Ps. AGREED!.. one of my gripes of the game is night flying and the "street lights" floating at altitude ..its not only on the Austrian map areas (Zell am See for example) ..but ive come across it in quite a few areas...from Austria to Scotland
I've only noticed it in Austria personally, but assumed it was in issue across the sim in certain areas. You'd think with so many airport upgrades in this area that they would have fixed it by now.
It is the same as the old view of the previous FSX. They did not update the MSFS with the same quality as the previous image .. I had it when I was using FSX
I agree the parking lot textures should have overlayed gray asphalt textures. I believe the parking lots at Key West have overlays. Otherwise this airport looks great and will purchase. The new Florence Italy airport looks great also which will be a nice flight between these two airports with the awesome scenery. Do you know where to get free approach plates for Europe airports? I use sky vector for US airports because the default atc approach glide slope altitudes in MFS are not always correct.
I respectfully have to disagree with your comments about "the river looks so much better". Having been there many times in real life, the river water is the incorrect colour with ORBX version! It is better in the default version and more true to life. Other than that, it's excellent!
Thanks for the comment c898. I doubt many of the viewers including myself would have known that. Seemed too brilliant in comparison to the rivers in Ontario Canada. Its possible the artist has the same bias. This is what is so cool about a global community here. Out of interest, What do you feel about the bright grass and greenery compared to the orbx scenery?
@@NOTAM1 Everything else they have got spot on, including the grass colour. The default ground terrain in that area seems to have an overall green cast to it, a bit too green - even the roads etc seem to have a green hue to them! Orbx have got that sorted. All the best! Andy.
I can confirm that it is really very very realistic, in some views you can`t tell apart if it‘s a photo from the real scenery. The only thing that bothers me: Why did they change RWY 08 to RWY 8, that‘s actually wrong!
Who is the target market for these scenery packs? If the papi lights don’t work, the airport is unusable for me. Who cares about immersion when the approach lights are guiding you into the fence?
I flew out of the Greek freeware LGSK yesterday and that's also doing the whole lights in the sky thing at night, so as you say it has to be a MSFS issue
I saw the very same issue with the PAPI lights on another new scenery of TNCM - Princess Juliana Int Airport from a different developer. Not sure what that's about.
I just bought this product, it still looking a better than the latest default scenery from Asobo. Aslo FPS is not affected, but there is one problem. There are unrealistic hills in the surroundings that disappear only at a small distance. Is there any advice or fix?
It's amazing how poor and lacking the default taxiways and runways textures are. Such a relatively simple thing for Microsoft to include by default and has such a big visual impact.
