Don't knock the Weetbix, they are the best with milk, banana and strawberries. Dry they are great with butter and vegemite
Love mine with nuts and milk.
Lovely also with butter and jam❤
Agreed! Gotta' wash em' down with something though ! Cold milk?
Yeah I prefer them dry with butter and Vegemite
Definitely. I used to cut them in half and eat them with butter and Vegemite.
happy aussie day , WE ARENT biased , we just dont grow up with all that sugar , our taste buds are not used to it , hence STARBUCKS didnt work here
Well technically that didn't work here because we already had coffee places here. That were much better.
Starbucks didn't do their research before coming here because if they had they would have gone.. "Holy crap they all kinds of coffee here not just coffee and milk. This isn't going to work guys!"
😅
@@Kewlausgirl 😂Exactly what i said just more eloquently , it was crap and full of sugar
Starbucks didn't work cause they use the drip style coffee not.the expresso style Aussies like
The US breakfast cereal is probably illegal here
It's not illegal here! 😂 you can get most of them at select lolly shops. The problem with American cereals here is just that Aussies don't like them, they're far too sweet and hold little nutritional value, Aussies take their health a little more seriously (ironic since we have the more affordable health care, but hey! 😂).
There's a Cafe near me that sells American snack food (one corner of the Cafe is devoted to shelves of them) lucky charms cereal was over $12 a box, Takis were around $5 for a small bag, a jar of that fluff marshmallow stuff was over $10. And that was before covid, so I imagine they'd cost waaay more now
@@lashinka2574yes, it is! 😂 The froot loops you get in oz are different to froot loops in the USA because some of the ingredients used ARE illegal. That’s just one example. Google it mate
@@katielattey7545we have the Takis in a Servo here and over $10 a packet 😱 I’m not trying them 🤔
S’mores are definitely not a thing in Australia. Does not sound appetising. Our marshmallows are the best in the world though, and perfect toasted on their own on a stick over a fire.
I'm a nutritionist. From the cereals on the video, the only cereal that I would eat that is healthy is Weetbix (with honey and fruit).
Undestandable. I eat cereal most days and it's Woolies own brand Weetbix and Woolies own brand meusli. I do also sprinkle some raw sugar over it, admittedly. Very cheap and healthy!
Not even Rice Bubbles? I don't think there's any sugar in those at all. But you'd know better than me.
@utha2665 it could be because it's made with white rice? Weetbix is high in fibre so would be healthier than rice bubbles
Not a nutritionist but same! I've never tried the original Weet-Bix from Australia, only its British version Weetabix. From what I remember, it tastes surprisingly okay, but cereal or breakfast biscuits aren't real food to me.
@@SatieSatieWeet-Bix is a Sanitarium product and Nestle’s Uncle Toby’s brand has Vita Brix which is the same but different.
I can only imagine the UK Weet-a-bix would too be extremely similar.
Ask your Colon which it likes better, ‘Weet Bix’ or ‘Lucky Charms’.
Most US ceral doesn't meet Australian Standard for food and is considered a confection.
Weetbix is great with hot milk over it and a little sugar honey etc and you can eat it dry with butter and honey or jam. Weetbix choc slice is great as well.
Lucky charms vs weetbix... lol
Weetbix is one of the only 5 star health cereals, they serve it in hospitals.
putting that against lucky charms is like putting water vs dr pepper
lucky charms would probably be 0 stars if tested.
I argue that point I actually have seen and bought Apple Jacks here in Australia the only reason that Rice Bubbles and Weet Bix are not passing is because they taste better when you add things to them like milk and sugar or fruit etc they are honestly not meant to be eaten plain! We also have Rice Krispy treats but we call them LCM bars another thing we have in Australia is Chocolate Crackles which used to be a common treat when we were kids at parties not so much anymore.
Love chocolate crackles
fruit loops in Aus is all natural flavours & colourings US is ALL SUGAR
Vegemite cereal! I couldn't think of anything worse and I'm Australian!
I like Weetbix, buttered, with Vegemite. So it might work. But not with milk!
Weet-Bix are flakes of wheat crushed into a bar. They're basically like corn flakes except they're wheat. So yes of course you need milk. In winter you can use hot milk, or use cold milk then microwave the entire meal. Afterwards add sugar (raw sugar is delicious for this rather than white sugar), and chopped banana. YUM!
Wheetbix are awesome. We have a jingle that goes. AUSSIE KIDS ARE WHEATBIX KIDS, AUSSIE KIDS ARE WHEAT BIX KIDS. Theres nothing you can use them for. 2 or 3 in a bowl with sugar hot or cold milk and fruit for any time of the day. You can spread butter on them with honey, jam or Vegemite and make amazing baked slices with them or crushed up and used instead of bread crumbs. Yummo
The RIGHT way to have Weet Bix is with WARM ( hot but not boiling) milk with a dollop of brown sugar ( NOT much ) and a banana maybe.
I always put raisins or sultanas with it back when I was still eating cereal. Don't know why I stopped. At some point while at uni, I ended up switching to savoury breakfasts and it's stuck.
Weet is are the best cereal ever. They even taste great with hot milk on them in the winter. We used to eat them for a snack with butter and Vegemite on them. I usually put bananas on mine, with cold milk, yummy. I have had plenty of American cereals and they are disgusting, just diabetes in a box. You should try healthy cereals as children and you will grow up to be much healthier too.
6 in the morning before school 6 after try cut in half butter and peanut past
We refer to nutra grain as nuts and bolts but the shape is supposed to be chain links, all in reference to iron. The lettering is done that size as it's meant to be EPIC.
they are buses with little windows
@inatick5057 the wheels on the bus has fallen off, fallen off, fallen off, the wheels on the bus has fallen off, eary in themorning
I love Weetbix with a sliced banana on it. My kids do, too. In comparison I bought them a box of Lucky Charms from a USA Foods store for a fun thing in the school holidays. They both had it once,m and then refused to have any more, saying it was way too sweet.
Peanut butter with chocolate is a very American thing. None of my family like it.
Peanut butter and honey is one of my favourite toast toppings... though I did have peanut butter and nutella sometimes as a kid.
Why would you eat marshmallows for breakfast .. that’s so unhealthy
We also cut weet bix in half lengthways and spread with butter for a snack. I used to love that after school
Happy Australia Day Ryan. I don’t think the match ups were correct with this one. Thanks for hanging with it though.
You can’t beat rice bubbles when it comes to making chocolate crackles.
Chocolate crackles?
@@katielattey7545 my mistake.
We have Kellog's junk, but so many kids are raised on weet Bix. My son is in his late forties and he still loves on them. After years of eating other crap and not enough fruit and veg, he is still healthy and has no cholesterol problems. It's 95% whole wheat, so it's amazing for the body. Plenty of other cereals that are almost as good. Feed kids proper food and no junk, and they will always prefer the healthy food. Don't add sugar to stuff or give them sugary creal, and they won't miss it.
Weetbix and Vegemite on toast are the most iconic Aussie breakfast foods by a mile…
What’s funny is that both are acquired tastes, that require learning just how you like yours
Happy Australia Day arvo Ryan , Britney and Jace ! 22:44 It's literally 42 ° Celsius here and it's 6pm. The sun two days ago let go another solar flare and Australia is cooking. Some areas 49° deg. Apparently it's an 11yr cycle event. Phew, not too many out and about today if away from water. Next week the same 🥵 A cyclone in Qld ripping through. Just another summer in Oz 🥴🙆♀️😉
Weet-Bix is bland but extremely healthy. It's wheat compressed into a brick shape that's it. It's what you add, tailor made. Usually hot or cold milk allowing extra for absorption. Then sugar or drizzle honey to your taste, not the companies and fruit if wanted. My partner is addicted to 4 Weet-Bix hot milk, sugar and dry powdered milk on top to make it creamy. Must say it's omg sensational. However for me it's a rarity for obvious reasons 😂
It was common to have a dry Weet-Bix with butter and jam or butter and vegemite for a snack. Arnotts Milk Arrowroot biscuits were treated the same. It was cheap in poorer times and lot's of us grew up on it. Later there was another cracker biscuit, long rectangle shape, very healthy with seeds. You took two, put Vegemite or jam on it then the fun was to squeeze the spread through the tiny holes hahaha ohhh and a slice of cheese added if hungrier lol
Solar flares are insignificant (like 100,000 time less) compared to the normal amount of energy coming from the sun. And the 11 year cycle is a variance of 0.1% in solar activity.
@@jwnomad What page were you supposed to be on when you wrote this? It's irrelevant!
Vita-Weat worms, YES! THE Vegemite swirling through the holes.
@@judithstrachan9399 Omg thanks yes Vita -Wheat. I couldn't remember the name 😋
@@jwnomad I admit when I'm wrong ok I'm willing to accept that and I've learnt something new. I heard about the controversial 2012 event that happened in eastern and central United States. I was under the understanding that solar flares did affect temps. I heard it way before Google was even invented.
I was in the U.S for 4 months and tried to buy weet bix there because I've eaten them for decades. Couldn't get them anywhere unless I wanted to pay some astronomical price online so I went without. It was murder. The closest I found was a product called weetie Bix made by a Canadian company. Not bad but I have to have my weet Bix. Waiting for my green card and I'll be migrating to the U.S soon, so I'll be shipping an Aussie food hamper with a years supply of WB, vegemite, Milo,Tim Tams and other Aussie delights. Nothing like a little bit of home in the pantry.
10:35 because they’re bubbles….of rice….
Who remembers Strawberry Pops? Strawberry rice bubbles. Yummo. Oh yes...and Jaffa Pops, Coco pops and orange ones. I loved the 70's!
I love Nutrigrain. It's one of my favourite cereals.
Same.. not really a fan of anything else
Wheetbix with butter and Vegemite . I hate it with milk
I can send you some links for a therapist if you’d like
@@aaronf1078 lighten up and live a little champ
Most of our cereals are healthy. Crunchy Nut Cornflakes are yum coz they have honey on them.
I love Weetbix but am eccentric in how I eat them: two Weetbix, mango juice and blueberries or raspberries. Yum.
Happy Australia day, mate. I use to crush 4 to 6 Weet-Bix into a large bowl, drown in full-cream milk & top with a tablespoon of raw sugar. Yummy stuff.
Weet bix bites cereal are good, they are smaller bite size pieces with dried fruit in it or honey flavoured ones, also side note weet bix used to come in a yellow metal tin and they are collectable now. My nan has one
Full English Breakfast every time. 🙃🙃🦘🦘
When this old Aussie was a kid I used to sprinkle a spoonful a sugar on my Wheet Bix but as an adult I put a spoonful of Milo no them, how many Wheet Bix do you do,? Means how many do you put in the bowl 2, 3, 4, or more,? And you can have them semi dry by spreading butter/ margarine with Vegemite, or peanut butter or your favourite jam / jelly.
Coco pops are Rice Bubbles coated in chocolate, both go "Snap, Crackle & Pop" when the milk goes on. Nutra Grain is made from Wheet, Corn and Oats.
Hi Ryan, we have a very popular shop not far from us called The Candy Train, they sell all US breakfast cereals and US candy. Quite pricey though, my son bought a small box of Reeces Puffs cereal just to try it, was about $15 Australian. As far as I know it's the only place you can get stuff like this.
5:27 Hot Weet-Bix in winter & cold Weet-Bix (let soak in milk until it soften ups) in summer is the perfect breakfast. But Weet-Bix always needs sugar on top, yum 😋 6:04 Weet- Bix with butter & sugar is also yum but how can it be fair when they didn’t even eat the Weet-Bix properly? 12:31 Again where’s the sugar in the Rice Bubbles? The American cereal all look like they’re full of colouring, there’s nothing natural about them 🤷🏻♀️
As a kid in my regular growth spurt I would be eating 6 - 8 Weet Bix in the morning. It is great with warm milk.
Ryan when you try Milo make sure it’s the Australian one. The one you can buy in Europe I think is made in South Africa and it has added sugar. Very different to the Australian one.
Whaaaaat?!?
My husband used to work in the Nestle/Maggi factory in Sydney. There’s a ridiculous amount of sugar even in our Milo.
@@judithstrachan9399 that may be so but you can actually see the sugar crystals in the one I picked up in the UK and my kids and hubby wouldn’t take it cause it tasted different. I don’t drink it but im from the UK originally and am part of Aussie’s in the UK forums and they go off when people find shops stocking the ones from Australia and they talk about how different and how much sweeter the non Aussie one is.
@@twittery001 That’s just awful. Poor poms.
Rice bubbles have less sugar than rice krispies and tend to keep their structure better when you use hot milk (rice krispies turn to sticky mush very quickly).
😂😂 I used to buy my kids the Kellogg’s multi packs of cereals as a holiday treat. After trying Froot Loops once, none of them liked it and we went to the normal multi pack. They went for the Special K and nutrigrain as much as anything else.
I now buy Cocopops as a HOLIDAY treat. My husband gets Crunchy Nuts cornflakes as a treat. Our standards are: Nutrigrain, Just Right, Milo cereal and Weet Bix.
For reference, the first three have a ‘4 star’ nutrition rating and Weet Bix has 5. Froot Loops and Cocopops have a 2. I would love to see a taste vs nutrition comparison (I reckon Aussies would win hands down).
"...How do you make s'mores?" We don't. Australians almost always go for a savoury option, particularly when camping. Can't think of anything worse than a sweet, sticky, drippy, melty thing in hot weather. As for Weetbix, they're a nutritious cereal that offers an opportunity to add the flavour of your choice: honey, fresh fruit, yoghurt, hot or cold milk.
Dissing the Weet-Bix!! Them there’s fight’n words!! You realize it’s the top selling breakfast serial in Australia.
Not only by far the most nutritious of all the serials they had in the list. It’s also the basis of many recipes. I think this just shows the difference in palate for each country. Notice Aussies find US stuff sweet. We like umami (thus Vegemite)
I had to search for muesli while in America. Finally found some at Trader Joes.
Weetbix is great with milk and either sugar or milo on top. Can microwave it so you have warm wet is for those cold winter mornings.
Weetbix are the most popular according to sales in Australia 🇦🇺 these can be eaten so many ways, even with margarine and Vegemite or cold milk, warm milk etc plus add different fruits etc
Weetbix is my childhood and most of my adult life. Australia 🇦🇺 🪃
Eons ago Nutrigrain ads had one of our cricketers say "they look like cricket bats with holes"
I'm craving Vitabrits now, I like them more than Weetbix. After school we had Vitabrits with butter and veg or peanut butter.
When we were kids we would spread jam on the weet bix for a snack
Australia. Crunchy Nut Clusters
42 degrees today in ozz. Happy Australia Da Ryan.
In Sydney Australia,🇦🇺 it’s 7.45am,22c, watching this made me hungry so I had some Vegemite on country split bread/toast with a coffee meal shake drink from aldis🇦🇺
Rice Bubbles what we call rice crispies In Australia and frosted flakes Frosties whe I was kid I eat Rice Bubbles and cocoa pops I think I had froot loops as an adult I don’t eat cereal occasionally if I wanted too like we got cinnamon toast crunch discounted I had it dry taste like mini doughnuts that was the first American cereal I had ♥️🤍💙🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Mate!!
You realise you just insulted us Aussies
Weet Bix is the most popular Brekky cereal in OZ
Usually have around 5 or 6 to a serve with milk, honey and banana
Will have to send you a box!!😂
If you are struggling to remember how to pronounce ‘Milo’, I strongly suggest that you watch a movie called “Milo and Otis”. It is a family movie about a dig and cat that get lost and find their way home. You will never forget the name after that awesome movie.
Why do I feel that most US cereals couldn't be sold as cereal in Australia, whereas was The like for like comparison, that was bogus
prob rump steak on the bar b with tatters wraped in alfoil served with heaps of sour cream and not much else. After all they say happiness is a rare steak, a bottle of scotch and a dog....to eat the steak.
weetbix with butter and vegemite on it yum
Rice bubbles are better than any American cerial I have tried
If I ate cereals, it would be Nutri-grain or Fruit Loops, left 10 mins to go 100% soggy....
Rice Bubbles with some sugar are pretty good tho.
Those US ones looked so processed and saturated with colouring, I would have some kind of reaction I'd say, maybe just hyperactivity, maybe sneezing.... :D
Crunchy nut corn flakes is YUMM. Corn flakes coated in honey and sprinkled with tiny nut chips.
8:18 Those colours are too bright for Australia Ryan. And I thought Fruit Lopps was bright...
We don’t make s’mores we do damper when camping.
I've had weetbix in my cupboard for 4 years... still probably ok.
The Weetbix challenge is to eat one in under 30 seconds without having any water or drink to wash it down with. It’s an old ag show (fair) kid’s challenge
I pour a little hot water from the kettle on weet-bix then use milk and sugar it turns it into a yummy mush lol
Weetbix dry...slice it into halves and spread butter on each half, then add jam or vegimite in the middle. Eat like a sandwich.
We put sugar on cereal wheatbix with sugar and hot milk in winter.we make chocolate crackles out of rice bubbles.
Didn't get Australia Day off and it was hot too 106F (for you Ryan). Most Australian cereals are NOT healthy with Uncle Toby's Vitabrit's coming the closest. Most a loaded with sugar for you only need to look at the health star rating. A low number of stars means it tastes great but is bad for you and a high number of stars means it tastes bland and is better for you. Cereal foods that are high in fibre are better for you as they give you number two urges.
Stop with the Weetbix shaming Ryan - it's the best and HEALTHY, how many do you do 😉
Dry Weetbix, split and slather with butter and Vegemite! best🎉
Only watched because I saw my all-time favourite cereal in the thumbnail, Nutri-Grain. My sister is sending me some boxes in the summer as a treat because we can't get it here in the UK.
I still miss Aussie Weet-bix as they are flaky, but here in the UK they are more grainy and unpalatable.
Weet-bix is healthy until you cover it with a layer of sugar on it! 🤣
weet bis little bit of hot water sugar & milk can give to babies when starting solids
You know NOBODY says “Happy Arvo” right?
Weet-Bix with full cream milk and honey was my breakfast for most of my childhood. Healthy and delicious😋.
Most of my friends call the Australian cereal, especially fruit loops, rice bubbles, Coco pops and Nutri-Grain, children cereal. Crunchy Miss skills eat corn flakes or west Bix, many adults choose not to eat cereal, due to the high sugar content.
Try Nutri Grain
Salted peanuts
Peanut oil
French onion soup mix
Curry powder
We call it nuts and bolts, its a snack not ceral
Mix the dry ingredients and toast lightly in the oven
Ryan I'm 72 and we used to eat weet bix as a treat with butter and vegemite
I used to have Weet Bix with butter and jam when I got home from school.
Golden Grams? I love how Americans pronounce words
Lol
Apart from Weet-Bix, Milo (which is malted barley based, with some chocolate) and possibly Nutri-Grain, this was virtually American vs American cereals. About the only difference between the American and Australian versions of the American cereals are less or none of the artificial flavours and colours.
You can't try just plain Weet-bix when taste testing! That's like trying Vegemite without butter, and piling it on as though it were Nutella!
Weet-bix is best with other toppings. Hell, just have it with honey on top and you are set! I used to do brown sugar or raw sugar as a kid. But over time i realised honey is much better than sugar on weet-bix.
Now though, I put Greek yoghurt and banana on top with a bit of honey... It's soooo so so so much better!!!!
Oh and I'll add a teaspoon of Psyllium husk from the health shop to go with it for extra fibre. But i only need that coz it helps with my IBS and it just keeps you healthy. 😊
But sometimes I'll add strawberries or blueberries on top of the yoghurt, depending on what is not as expensive at the Woolies. Most of the time it's just Banana and honey though as bananas are always cheap lol.
That's us down here 🇦🇺 🍌🧋
Ryan there is like 3 days a year you can light a fire in the outback, no, we don't go out and make smores.
Nutrigrain are very sweet.
They change the background colour so you notice the change, but they don't keep it consistent.
I never even knew what s'mores were until I was in my 50s! Read an American novel.
Our fruit loops are way more superior! Can't imagine eating so much sweetness as soon as l wake up!
How is there a thing called the Weetbix challenge when us Aussie kids grew up in the 90’s eating them dry and taking them to school as a snack with some time peanut butter or Vegemite to dip on them or spread on across. Definitely not a challenge in my books.
Aussie Kids are Weet Bix Kids...
Weet Bix All the Way, Mate!
Weetbix with milk thats had time to absorb in is much better.
Add in banana honey or even a little raw sugar. Its amazing! But our cereal here is pretty ordinary.
Miniwheats were the best
I am not celebrate Australia Dat, because it isn’t Australia. The state I grew up in was originally its own Colony (as they all were). Accordingly Adelaide has its own Proclomation Day.
Australia came into being on 1/1/1900. The current Australia Day is very controversial, not only not representing Australia, but for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, it is Invasion Day, and they have never ceaded any of their countries.
You dont have milo for brekky, its like flavoured sugar.
In defence of the wheat-bix.... you have to eat it with fruit compote on top.
Weetbix with banana or berries are yummy, and a everyday staple for my family, love it!
Yum. Put butter & jam on it
I wish Ryan would stop calling Milo (or “Meelow” as he calls it) chocolate. It’s not. It’s malt (with some) chocolate.
He did stop after one gaff.
Most of the sweetness comes from the malt and it is just powdered cocoa without added sugar.
Milo has vitamins and minerals in it, it’s not like Nesquik, which we used to call Quik for decades.
Quik was such a treat to be had when we were kids, it was never a regular item in the pantry, where as Milo was always on the shelf. Cold Milk with two tablespoons of Milo.... yum! Though I did prefer Bournvita when push came to shove.
yeah but milo also has 40.5g of sugar per 100g
Drink it Freddy drink it 🤪
@@Blob_Boy There is a 30% less added sugar version of Milo which I prefer to purchase.
Weet-Bix is the second healthiest cereal right below rolled oats!
We can also eat them with peanut butter or butter and Vegemite! Yum!
You’re so used to sugary breakfasts, that something that’s actually healthy is repulsive to you. We do have a few sugary cereals but apart from having a lot less sugar, they also have complex carbohydrates.
I disagree most cereal is not healthy weet-bix will eventually give you stomach issues and they are as bland as all anything!
also, Nutragrain actually has ridiculous amounts of sugar tried to tell my niece that and she never believed me
@@francesottewill2538 According to nutritionists, Weet-Bix is very healthy because it’s just wheat. I grew up on Vita-Brits, myself, and as an adult, switched to rolled oats.
@@francesottewill2538 You are not supposed to eat ONLY cereal, dude. Too much of ANYTHING is bad for you. That's like saying "Too much water will make you feel bad". Yeah. Yeah, it will kill you. Obviously.
Jeni@@Jeni10 you are correct, reading the weetbix label now (Kiwi weetbix mind, but I'm sure they are not too much different) it states 97% wheat, 3% sugar. 3% sugar is pretty good, thats less sugar than fresh fruit!
