    Great video Cecil and Heather. Snowblower is working great, it is doing the job of clearing your driveway and that is all you need.
    Cheers, Jeff.

    I love your video. I have a 212 and a 214 right now and have the front blade on my 212. This is the first year that I've actually wanted snow but we can't seem to get it LOL. Everytime a storm is headed our way it either splits and goes around us or just disipates and dies when it gets to us.

    Time for Cecil to make a device for turning the shoot , I have blown snow for years and found a snowmobile helmet and shield works good or even a anti fog skiers mask sure keeps from freezing the old eyeballs. great videos !!

    I thought you'd be using the case dozer for snow removal, that thing will push that amount of snow no problem.

    • @SkinnersOffGrid
      @SkinnersOffGrid  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. Yes you're right it will...I just hate the large snowbanks that take forever to melt, oh and the dozer is too rough on the frozen ground ;-) Cheers.

    Cecil , here’s a suggestion you might want to think about in the future , when you get ready to add on to your solar system you might want to think about raising the panels up high enough that you can run the snowblower under the bottom edge and keep the snow from accumulating at the bottom of the panels , without having do use a hand shovel to keep it cleaned up ... I see you were out having fun , enjoyed the videos keep up the good work

    Lovely job the little jd is very handy round the the house with the snow blower. MF165 that takes me back, we had MF 185 and 135 tractors back in 70’s early 80’s. Great video hope you get the sawmill running soon.

    Hi Cecil and Heather!!😀😀
    The old 214 dose a really nice job.
    To bad you don't have one of those winter cabs for it like they used to make for them. Then you wouldn't get snow in your face when you are blowing into the wind.
    We are supposed to get about that much snow here tomorrow afternoon and night.
    Take care and stay warm my friend's!!😀😀❤❤

    Hi Heather & Cecil. That John Deere 214 is amazing at clearing snow. It has a fantastic throw on it and the fact that you can direct the throw is exceptional. Its a light weight tractor that is easy on gas but does an epic job when asked to. I think you will love it and look after it for a long time. Great video and thank you for sharing it with us. Take care .:--)))

    You guys have a lot of snow compared to us atm. Ours is about 8 inches of snow/ice/snow etc... almost walk on it... I've used my snowblower once this winter and my neighbor came over with his tractor snowblower and did a fair chunk of the driveway... last few years we must have had 3 feet of snow... woohoo... spring is near...

    From the mid 70s through the 90s I used a 10 hp cub cadet with a singe stage 36 in thrower. I am now using a super cub cadet 22 hp which has a 2 stage blower 45 inches wide.

    I'm right with you on using old jd garden equipment. I use them for gardening and snow removal. They are useful tools with many options and the kohler k series engines are great. I prefer snow blowing because it cleans up nice. There are limitations tho. Slower than plowing but easier to put the snow where you want it. If we get heavy snowfall I clear often to keep up. Easier to do 6 inches twice than letting it pile up.

    • @SkinnersOffGrid
      @SkinnersOffGrid  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Matthew. I think this old equipment is the best and still lots of parts around as well. I'm looking for the pto belt pulley that mounts on the front... I want to try to run my old Buzzsaw with it. Yes here it's easy to get 5' snow banks by the end of winter, they are usually packed very hard from the big tractor I own... and they take at least a month to melt after the snow is gone. Thanks again. You have a great evening. Cheers.

    When I lived in Northern Wisconsin I would clean the road back 150 feet for just that purpose. It took all of the agony out of cleaning the ridge of ice from in front of my driveway.

    The little lawn tractor and snow thrower make a great combination and you don’t tear up the driveway. Great little machine.

    • @braydonroberts4887
      @braydonroberts4887 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those old school machines really are not that little the 214 is in the garden tractor category so it is designed for ground engagement. I have a newer JD s240 model it is great for mowing and towing a cart and has the Kawasaki but not much else. I also have a 214 with hydraulics now that can move some debris. There are videos I have seen of these 214 towing 3/4 trucks. The snow plows you can get for them also double as a dozer blade and has a locking pin to keep it from springing forward. I had a Craftsman gt5000 before the 214 and that old school 214 is way better and is like a little tank compared to the craftsman. In my opinion the tractors at lows or home depot are the little dollar store versions compared to JD garden tractors there new x758 is the top of the line of the garden tractor variety. They have 3 cylinder yanmar diesels in them but the starting price is $13K

    Uses less fuel than the tractor.,But slower

  • @Whipple1
    @Whipple1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Cecil, might I be so bold as to suggest that you utilize all the capabilities of that John Deere 214? As you get closer to spring, watch the weather forecast. When you see a few good days in a row of warmer, sunny weather, get that tractor out to your garden. Blow the snow off your potato and onion patch and drop the tiller into the ground on the same pass. Turn over your soil and get a jump start on warming it up for an extra early crop of new potatoes!
    Hahahahaha
    Cheers!
