My mother and father danced to this song many years ago. We recently played it at her funeral. Every time I hear it it makes me cry, I imagine them dancing together in heaven now., so whenever I play it although it upsets me it brings a smile to my face. It's a very romantic song.
A very nice walz, here in Finland made a popular singer-songwriter-componist Georg Malmsten a finnish version of that song in 1937 in Berlin with Odeon-Tanz-Orchester. The recording became very popular in here.

meine oma ist jetzt 89 und das einzige an was sie sich permanent erinnert ist an den ersten tanz mit meinem opa..... das war auf diesem lied.... danke für diesen upload... ;o) nachdem damals ein tanzverbot verhängt wurde, so hat sie erzählt, war dies der erste abend und das erste lied..... irre, oder?
Oh yes I remember this was one of the songs that the Soviets coulden't ban. When I was young this was counted as old, but we played it as protest to the German Volkspolizei, as it did not cotain any words against "Socialism" . We showed that we would never surrender to the savage bolshevik regime. Germany will always live in my heart even though I am part Russian.
