"The Good Life" series is fantastic. I've grown up in the PNW, skiing for most of those years, and y'all have captured the essence of good PNW skiing while teaching me new beta about skiing in my regional backyard! I'll be coming back to these in a couple months for inspiration.
Glad the weather was on your guys' side during this. I was there when Stevens got dumped last Dec., and am currently sitting in Kuwait, daydreaming about snow and the PNW, stoked in seeing you guys capture it in the beautiful way that it deserves. Much appreciation from halfway across the world.
Listen. To all the people in the comments saying it’s not real or it sucks, don’t listen to them. I am a local and have grown up skiing there. Baker is my home and it is exactly as sick as they say it is if not more awesome. If your not gnarly enough to handle the heavy soft pow then don’t come here, if that’s not your cup of tea. The people there are so nice and there is so much to explore and so many runs or side/backcountry to shred. Plus their adding a park this year! Check it out it’s awesome.
I grew up skiing at Mt. Baker. Every weekend! Really miss those times. Spring skiing in shorts and tee shirt should not be missed if you have an opportunity.
Baker is the kind of place that leaves a mark on your soul. It was such an amazing place that I went back again the next year. Nothing really compares. However, the people that live there are not welcoming. I mean I get it, you have a treasure and don't want it to be ruined. But that doesn't mean you have to treat travelers like the plague. For such a small town, down to earth place, the people definitely have quite an "attitude" contrary to what this video suggests.
98 99 - I was lucky enough to be there for that one. After closing for 3 days we herd they were opening and I was on the way to Whistler from Mt Hood. Drove up in a 2 wheel drive truck - (I grew up in WV so it was no problem making it up) One of the most amazing places I have ever been and can't wait to go back with my wife and kids.
Hi Zack, my daughter and I watch you on Tiny House. We are amazed at the engineering and design skills you have!!! God has truly given you a gift and it is nice to see you bring smiles, joy and happiness to those in need of completing their Tiny Homes etc. projects. We noticed that you look a bit exhausted around the eyes; dark circles and face looking a bit pale. You are sweating out all your electrolytes and nutrients daily on these projects because they are so physical. The dark circles can be just plain exhaustion with not getting enough rest or you're losing to many vital nutrients to keep up with your demanding career. We understand you are going from state to state, and it can be hard on the body and mind to keep deadlines. Eating healthy can also be very challenging. So, we encourage you to get a full Lab panel to check you vitamin levels including your adrenals. These tests will assure your body is keep the proper levels and numbers are where they need to be to keep up with your demanding job. We also recommend you get on an organic, non-gmo vitamin regiment to assure you stay healthy if you're not on one. Organic non-gmo is the way to go because there are no fillers and additives in them just the nutrients you need. Your young and your viewers like us want to assure you stay healthy for many reasons. I'm sure your wife Alex wants to make sure your around forever since you have just begun a new chapter in your life with her! Stay safe:)
I'm 12 and live Close to mt baker and I love it so much but I've heard so much about terrain and other features in different places and want to visit them so badly
I just stumbled onto these and watched Crystal, Stevens and Baker: great turns, great footage (the RC heli is amazing!) - a very accurate portrait of Washington skiing (on a good week!). Thanks!
I can only dream living in rainy Ireland. Not a decent mountain for a thousand miles. After a day on mount baker there'll be more powder on the bottom of your boots than I'll see in a life time!
Sucks social media and shit like this has blown out a legendary little hole in the wall mountain. Now it’s just covered in gapers who side slip all the good lines. The whole elbow is blown out now, wasn’t like that 10 years ago. Shame.
Baker is awesome...backcountry is epic... ....of course, they never tell you about the poor Canadian teens that go missing in the backcountry virtually every single season.
Yeah I wen't there once and this place is all talk and no game. No pow, any thing there was left was completely tracked out and shitty. Also it was coastal concrete because it rained every day a week before we got there. It was also super, super flat.
A guy from Colorado running his mouth about Baker. You know or you don't. If your lucky enough to find something special make sure you tell the world so they can help you ruin it. Baker sucks its flat and rains all the time. R.I.P Craig Kelly
David Squire I remember that year well, they had to dig out the chairlift runs as you would literally ski up the mountain while seated in the charlift.
Of all the people you found to show you Baker, you found a Coloradan... No offense to him as he seems to love the mountain, but many of us grew up there and learned skiing and snowboarding on Baker. It was our weekend getaway for years.
I proudly rocked the Native sticker on my bumper! Then I read an opinion piece in the paper saying how people who think they're special because they are born someplace are arrogant and no better than anybody else. Screw that guy, but then I slept on it, and a week later took the sticker off. I came to think that it's nice to be psyched about where you're from but that it doesn't make you better than anybody else. I ended up putting a Tourist bumper sticker on instead. :-)
i have never seen someone ski that hard and every move is controlled. amazing.
Almost 8 years later, this is still a great video. Still no good cell service, still the best mtn in western wa.
Zach is awesome I think he is so talented in everything he does.

6 years after my first comment this is still amazing I need to go here
yeah actually, this was all shot on the east coast. So head over there, also people over there are gaper friendly.
...no?
East coast? This is the west coast
@@monkeyahh1343 Theyre making a joke about trying to keep people off the west and on the east
He's joking guys come on
It only rains at baker. Don’t go
Definitely one of the best places I've ever rode! Scenery is incredible.
When Baker is deep, it's amazing, but it's coastal so expect coastal concrete & rain. ☔️☁️ 🌧 ⛈ 🌩 🌨❄️
Thanks Chris! It was a great trip trip and we hit it perfectly. Couldn't have done it without the locals though. They killed it.

I love wake n bakery! Such an amazing place up there @ Mt Baker
I've skied at baker for 15 years, I'll be loyal to it for the rest of my life. It's my home, I grew up on the slopes there
Genghis Wayne Baker really is one hell of a place... Washington just needs higher elevation resorts asap.
same here I’ve grown up skiing there
I just started skiing 3 years ago here although i have been hiking and snowshoeing up there since i was born.

What a great place to grow up skiing!

Awesome series. Man I miss it up there
I just stumbled onto these and watched Crystal, Stevens and Baker: great turns, great footage (the RC heli is amazing!) - a very accurate portrait of Washington skiing (on a good week!). Thanks!
Nailed it! Flat and rainy at Baker. Move along. Why come here when Whistler is only 3 hours away! Go there...PLEASE!!!
Great series guys, we'll have to get you up to Canada sometime!
on any given powder day if you don't include the backcountry Baker will get skied out in about an hour and a half yes skied out.
I live in Lynden. Right next to Baker. I smell your jealousy. Seriously, backcountry Baker is incredible. Glad I live here.

My dads favorite place is crystal mountain
it does suck 60-90% of the season, but those few good days are so good that they make up for years of bad days lol.

any mountain is snowy during the winter, but baker is definetly not the snowiest.
Dude it got over 1000 inches in 1999
Efraim132 it set the world record in 1999
David Squire I remember that year well, they had to dig out the chairlift runs as you would literally ski up the mountain while seated in the charlift.
David Squire It's the snowiest mountain in the world, actually
Keep it a special secret!
Mt baker is the best place for shredders
Of all the people you found to show you Baker, you found a Coloradan... No offense to him as he seems to love the mountain, but many of us grew up there and learned skiing and snowboarding on Baker. It was our weekend getaway for years.
Seriously. It was also the first place that let us ride these funny looking things called snowboards.
