Udanoceratops - The Ceratopsian Boars

  • Ceratopsians, with their wide variety of head shapes and wide distribution, are well known for their ornamentations and their well-recognised impressiveness, although some members, while not having such elaborate headgear, more than made up for this in other ways, one of which being the genus known as Udanoceratops, which was quite the impressive animal as will be discussed. I hope you enjoy.

Honestly, I think Udanoceratops is one of the most terrifying ceratopsians, mainly due to its massive beak. I can picture someone encountering an Udanoceratops in the wild and trying to chase it off, only for it to charge them into the ground, and then bite their arm off with that massive beak. It just goes to show that while many carnivorous dinosaurs were scary, many herbivorous dinosaurs were even scarier.

I fully agree. Modern herbivores reflect this as well. Mountain lions? Scary. Angry moose? Terrifying.

I mean, Cape Buffalo trample and gore lions and human hunters. Wild boar get huge and nasty and can take out dogs and wolves. I would stay FAR away from this critter. If the jaws are any indication, the muscles were probably huge and this thing could easily crush a small carnivore or seriously injure a larger one. Big parrots crack walnut shells with no problem. I small skull or arm or leg would be crushed no problem.

I always said that if I went back in time to cretaceous north america and unluckily feel a deep low vibrating bellow and its a Tyrannosaurus Rex I'm gonna hopefully run towards a triceratops because it has head that's damn near a shield with horns for a reason, heck even Edmontosaurus was probably like the Moose equivalent of hadrosaurs.

And as this video demonstrates, a lot of those creatures are still dinosaurs. Dinosaurs are sometimes be said to be overrepresented in pop culture, and to an extent that's true. But there are still plenty of dinosaurs (arguably most of them, actually) that are under-appreciated by the general public.

I actually saw one piece of art where they broke off their evolutionary tree and became more niche. One was amphibious and ate fish, one was more like a ground dwelling eagle that ate meat and then one that was an omnivore with a pretty neat design made to eat just about anything. Cool stuff.
