The following files are duplicated as db files and may be used as primary or
alternate nameservice files using the nss_db library.

    2) /etc/group
    3) /etc/shadow
    4) /etc/services
    5) /etc/protocols

I see these entry of sudoers and sss in my /etc/nsswitch.conf file. Can you please explain little bit on sss and sudoers: files sss ?
    passwd: files sss ldap
    shadow: files sss ldap
    group: files sss ldap
    sudoers: files sss

Looks like it's been a while unanswered but basically the lookup rule is configured so sudo first looks thru the standard sudoers file then SSSD. System Security Services Daemon (SSSD) is just a system service to access remote directories and authentication mechanisms. If it's running you should see the sssd service running in the background. Typically sssd connects to a remote service such as an LDAP directory, an Identity Management (IdM) or Active Directory (AD) domain, or a Kerberos realm. The same goes for passwd, shadow, group it will first use files, then sssd, and lastly ldap.
