@Firebase / #askfirebase any plans for Firebase Storage Rules access based on data within the Firebase Database? (it would be a HUGE addition for me and add a lot of flexibility in granting and revoking temporary permissions for multiple users to files stored within Firebase Storage!)
We've been discussing it a lot, but it's not actively being worked on right now. I've been tinkering with the idea of auto-generating the storage security rules in a Cloud Function and then deploying them through the CLI. Hacky, but it might just work.
There is a lot of videos of your specialists talking very nice about Firebase attributes but, there is a huge lack of information and documentation. And in some cases it seems to be that Firebase try to correct errors with patches that make the problem more complex. A lot of cautions to consider in any solution given by yourselves. For example how to resolve the data integrity of denormalisation without a huge cost of processing time, and the Server side solution for this issue is not well explained neither documented.
short question: What is the cost of sending fcm through firebase function to 2-3 million users based on subscriptions/region? We don't use firebase storage or database. Just want to try out FCM.
FCM is free of cost. At a time they send 1000 notifications so for sending 2-3 million users they just divide 2-3 million notification in a 1000 based chunks and send one by one.
Xamarin is not going to fly. There are many developers who depend on Firebase. Xamarin and Firebase are like the enemy. Doesn't support each other. It's kind of politics. Google does not want to develop c# api for Xamarin. Until they do, I cannot use Xamarin. Someone should stand up and bring this issue to Google.
