I enjoyed Lucy's presentation, as usual. I was surprised to learn that neither the British government nor the British Royal Family gives money to Historic Royal Palaces.
Actually, the earnings from the Crown Estates, a huge amount that the royals assigned to the government some years back should do this. Instead, they give a small amount back to the Queen to pay for her costs as Head of State. All those State Dinners, receptions, tea parties, etc. The rest of the annual earnings from the Crown Estates are sucked up by government. The Queen is having to open Buckingham Palace to visitors on a much larger scale to fund the repairs it needs.
why doesn't the royal family pay for this? don't most of their money come from british taxpayers and the taxpayers again have to pay to look after these properies
Miss Worsley is a lovely speaker. However, she has developed the habit of making clicking sounds before she speaks. It has become so pronounced that I found it distracting. All public speakers have to guard against the "um and ah" syndrome and this.habit of Miss Worsley falls into that category. Just some constructive criticism, ma'am because you are certainly among the.most enduring speakers I've heard.
Sheila Pasquini She has a speech impediment caused by her tongue being too long. The click you hear is likely her tongue leaving the roof of her mouth. She really has to work to speak well so I can forgive her a few clicks.
Indeed, shocking isn't it that they had to go to such lengths! 🙄 Quit pretending you don't understand the pressures of the context in which it happened.
