1) Tip from viewer/commenter Jeff Gauvreau: If your mechanism doesn't work smoothly after verifying all of your pieces are tight & well-aligned, *try removing a link or two from the chain.* This will require stretching the whole thing uncomfortably to take up the gap, but I tried it and it helped immensely. Another viewer noted that some of his pieces had a little more post-molding flange or flashing at their bases and needed to be trimmed to stop catching. Two viewers slightly trimmed the tips of their tan axle-pins. 2) For the few seconds of this 27-minute video the 2012 Monster Fighters Haunted House is shown, its uppermost spire tip is missing -- the parts were used in a custom build. 3) There's also what looks like a really bad edit between comparison stills there that showed up in this published video, but is not present in my editing timeline and is completely illogical. 4) Unprinted, blank Junkbot stand-in should get its legs plugged in differently.
JANGBRiCKS at the beginning of this comment you mention that it came out in 2015, then you correctly say 2012! Long time fan of the channel, love your stuff!
While I did give a few pointers to Carl when he was designing the organ, calling it the organ of Catarino and having the tombstone in the graveyard with my initials was too big of a gesture that I don't believe I fully deserve. Goes to show how awesome people working in Billund are! Great review Jang, I'm liking the new format a lot! Hope it works great for you with all the somewhat recent changes that hit LEGO TH-camrs in general
How has no one noticed your comment here!? THANK YOU for all your amazing work and making our childhoods actually memorable instead of just piles of repressed traumatic experiences :D
3:32 Fun Fact: Most keyboards have felt to cushion the keys against the back of the piano and muffle any extra noise they make. They're usually red or green.
I think the green in the keyboard is intentional. pianos often have a felt layer above the keys as sort of a buffer and I think that's what that's supposed to represent.
Absolutely agreed, seen lots of green, sometimes red, sometimes ivory colored felt. For once a glimpse of green between other parts actually makes sense.
The detail is nice but inaccurate for an organ. The green or red or even black felt is called Nameboard Felt and it’s a piano part that prevent the keys to hit the fallboard when it is opened. The fallboard is the hinge part that be closed to protect the keys.
@@samuelm.4137 Yeah but don't you get similar felt buffers under the top keyboard of an organ to cut down on key clack on the retaining board for the bottom keyboard? I'm sure I've seen that on an actual organ. Maybe show/cinema organs are different to church organs. Either way, I think it's a nice miniature pipe organ model, and it looks like the keyboard is made up of 6 printed tiles, which is also great!

5:35 - "This section is not a reference" but can we take a minute to appreciate the use of more classic space elements in the corner there? Those grille-printed white slopes were in a few sets near the end of Classic Space and those red, yellow, black & white control panel tiles were very popular in sets like Blacktron II in the mid to late 90s but the pretty much disappeared for the next 20 years. Feels like a nice little throwback!
Indeed, according to Bricklink that very nice printed tile last appeared in 2004 (a slightly updated version of the print was used for the remote controls in "The Lego Movie" ten years later), while the printed slope was reintroduced last year after having been out of production since 2003. I wonder if the tile was reintroduced for this set especially or if it'll appear in some other set(s) later this year...
I loved those white slope pieces with the printed vertical lines! I'm very happy they used some of them in this set. I wish they'd release an 18+ Classic [theme of your choice] set once a year for us "old timers" who would love to see some classic space/legoland town/castle/pirates/etc brought back; just one set a year for 18+..
I think the camera was meant to be an on ride camera since it is lined up so that when the house is closed it faces through the clear window into the lift shaft
The way the "Nostalgia References" in the set display to the minifigs would seem to itself be a deeper reference. Actually, I think the keys on an actual organ have a sort of velvet piece under them to mute the keys clicking noise, so that could be why they chose to make that piece under the keys green instead of a less obvious color, which is a really cool detail! Man this set is cool.
Did not know this was an adventurers theme homage so that was a surprising treat. Favorite theme. But i agree it could have used some more filled out haunted house interior and interactivity(stairs etc), maybe a boobie trap like in the adventurers sets.
This set is amazing, I love all the hidden details and references to other sets! As someone who really enjoys drop rides in real life, I’m so glad to see they made a drop ride into this set! Great review Jang!
I'm a recent lego hobbyist... (recent being 2 weeks... haha... admired from a distance, but never bought a set). I just put this one together and I LOVE IT. I use it as a bit of a meditation. The ride mechanism was obviously finicky, but it works for me very well. I also used the spare parts around the building for my own narrative. I love horror and anything connected makes me love this. I also think the ride just makes it worth the time and the money.
One of the designers brought their kid in while making the set and he decided to put the upside down hanging skeleton, the snake under the desk and the pumpkin in the front yard. No Easter egg there.
I would so love to see Johnny Thunder and the old adventurers sets come back. Even if it was strictly new stuff and not any rereleases. I loved it as a kid and I regret having sold my little kid lego collection

Wow. That thing is tall lol. I just rearranged my whole Lego room during this lockdown and now I don’t think I have anywhere I can squeeze in the height of that thing. I make room for something wide and Lego releases something tall lol. Great set though!
I'm planning on gutting the house itself and make more room for an actual haunted house. Not an attraction, but with actual ghosts, because, honestly, I enjoy that type of thing.
Good morning dear Jang. I hope you are having a good day. During these troubled times I find myself watching legos usually because they are satisfying and I happen to watch your channel almost every time because of the hard work you put into each video. It amazes me how you change a one minute video into a 10 minute review because you look for all the details, features etc. Thank you for keeping us all entertained and may god bless you. Have a nice day!
Hey great review, I see you are having problems with your gears. Try to remove 1 link that should stop the clutch from slipping, maybe even two. I followed the instructions and then removed two and it now works well enough that I installed the hub and motors Powered up app has alot of more cool sounds and movements. Play well
Thanks much for this. I just tried it, and it indeed helps a lot! Feels very uncomfortable stretching all of those pieces to tighten it up though. When I put mine together it was taught, but the links just fit. Now I can probably play it like a stringed instrument, but the slipping is all but gone!
@@JANGBRiCKS yes it is tight, but I use these gears every day and the teeth are very strong and will not break under the little pressure. I would recommend using the Powered up app with a hub and two mes motors the ap has sound effects and other cool stuff. Fill out the back with some vine work to hide the flywheels and motor box I made the hub into a casket. Great job.
@@jeffgauvreau647 Oh I'm not worried about the gears at all. I know those will last for decades. I'm worried about the chain links. They're very thin, and made of a flexible material. I don't know how much constant static force they're designed to be under and for how long (since the force doesn't go away when the model is at rest).
@@JANGBRiCKS I cannot say how long anything will last, however as a point of reference, I built a MOCthat used these exact gears to lift about 4x as much weight. They have not bent or broken after five years of use. Good luck and keep making the nice in depth material.
This was a very smart set. Anyone that grew up with Lego in the 90s (whether they had the physical sets or played a bunch of the PC games) is going to have a big nostalgia trip with this (and it's come out at about the perfect time too since many of those people will be around the 25-30 year old range and after a little nostalgia). Add on the cool mechanism, and you have yourself a great set. I wasn't interested in the set based on the name (only clicked the video because of the size of the set), and 3 minutes into the video I want this set!
I don't know much about all of them, but I'm fairly sure that a lot of StarWars Lego sets have space'y control panel tiles in them, and the Ghostbusters ecto1 had a control panel slope.
9:02 What is the purpose of the second crankarm at the very back of the mechanism? It looks like it is attached to a Gear Shifter Ring to switch between functions.
It disengages the tread/track for the cart from the racketing gear system, which makes the cart drop. It basically allows you to drop the cart from any point in the tower
Hey, Frank! Would you still consider the actual Haunted House a good option? Has some terrible reviews at the Lego Website because of the elevator System (only 82% suggest to buy this set compared to most sets with ratings of 92% or up)... Plus, sounds pretty realistic that Lego will launch another Haunted House in a few years as a recurrent theme (so this will increase the value of the actual one) @Brick Bucks Btw, would you still consider the actual Haunted House a good investment? Has some terrible reviews at the Lego Website (only 82% suggest to buy this set compared to most sets with ratings of 92% or up)... Plus, sounds pretty realistic that Lego will launch another Haunted House in a few years as a recurrent theme (so this will blow out the actual one)
The wheelchair accessory is awesome! I’d absolutely be for sets to me more inclusive with things like disability. Not only sets a good precedent and stance towards those things, but also would create plenty of opportunities for cool and interesting Lego pieces.
Managed to order one of these before they sold out online, and should be getting it tomorrow. Planning to eventually grab a second one, removing the ride parts/references, and turning it into a haunted house.
Quite impressive for a Lego set! I wasn't sure if it was a haunted house but now I know it's a ride, it would go great next to the rooler coaster! Thanks for the very thorought "visit" of this haunted house, Jang!
Jang - big fan! One request for future reviews of sets this large would be to zoom in on the area that you're going to show in close-up. When we switched to the shot of the painting I was a bit lost as to where it was in relation to all the other parts of the build. I know you need the camera fixed so it could even be a thing you do in post? Anyway, love the vids thanks a ton!
When u think about it the finicky nature of the function mixed with the power function does provide that eerie vibe with creeking noise that it creates. I CALL THAT ONE A STRONG PRO. if u ask me.
Y'know, if you don't want an amusement park drop tower in the middle of your lego city, this looks like it would MOC fairly easily into a really nice Church or small Cathedral. The front certainly has that vibe.
Set 5988 (Temple of Anubis, the biggest Desert set) had a jewel inside a glass jar as the main treasure, surrounded by booby traps. It was red, not blue, but otherwise is the closest thing I can think of to the blue jewel in the glass jar
Wow I didn't know that your lego channel worked so well! I've known about you as a TH-camr a decent amount of time ago through your Playmobil channel when I was comparing Playmobil castles/forts. I always thought your video were great because you explained the products very well, and gave even some comments on usability and playability in fun and creative manners. You also have a very kind-sounding voice which was quite soothing. I'm very happy to see that you have so many subscribers and such success on your lego version😊 Keep it up Jang!
20:33 Alhazred Altar. Wow. I'm sure some of the Lego designers read HP Lovecraft. Also with so many references to him in Hidden Side sets. Neat reference and quick build. I'll have to do one myself.
I kind of wish this set was sold as two to three modular pieces so the interior had more posable space. But there are qa couple really nice things that make me appreciate this set: 1. The creak of th3e elevator really adds some believable atmosphere. 2. The inclusion of a wheelchair reminds me of a "ghost" in Silent Hill: Downpoiur, but I wish the twins were girls so we could also have a Shinng reference. 3. I really love how well-hidden the action features are, and the elevator mechanism outside is something you might see on a reaql-life ride. Hopefully, someone will submit an expansion for this during the next voting season so there's more interior space.
man... I REALLY liked the "old" ghosts much more! On that note, I also thought the "old" skeleton figs were cooler, too (remember the different arms on them?)
Some organs or pianos have felt at the top of the keys, and although I think red might be more common, I have seen green felt used. So that green peeking through doesn't look so out of place to me
The powered up app for this set has a button with a camera icon that sends the ride up to the window that is at the same level as the camera. The camera faces this window when the building is closed.
I have this set on my build table now and heard horrors (pun intended) of the elevator function being finicky. Watching this video does put my mind at ease to open it up and build. Thanks Jang for demonstration the function.
Those old browser games went crazy. I remember playing Junkbot and the old lego adventure games a lot when I was a very very young boy. Great references all around in this set.
I really like the new ghosts, yes the old ones are more nostalgic but it’s nice that they’re trying something new, especially when you consider that all the uses of that over-torso ghost piece were for actual ghosts, whereas these are meant to be just people in costumes 😂
3:32 so fun fact, most organs and pianos have some type of felt behind the keys and it's essentially a stereotype for it to be green or red. The fact they paid that close attention to a detail that most people would think looks bad without knowing is honestly impressive imo
So I got this set just a this week and while putting the box of junk together I read the caption in the instructions and the reference flew over my head; however I did combine the bricks and the legs just for shits and giggles and could've sworn it resembled something in my past. Now that I'm watching this video, I just got that the box of junk is literally Junk Bot and that blew me away. I remember playing the hell out of Junk Bot way back in elementary school in the computer lab... That alone just makes this set so much more to me.
I like the way Lego is going with honoring, or at least giving tribute to, older Lego sets like they are doing with this one with the older sets, and like Pirates of Barracuda Bay is doing.
It was really cool, I actually bought that old adventurer plane set from an old man for only 10$ at a big tent market place. I'm super lucky that I found it and now that I realise how old they are, I wish I had bought all of them!
Fantastic review! I was particularly impressed by the camera work with the ride filming. Personally, I don't think that the main function works well with the idea of the set. In my opinion they should have made it in a fun house style attraction, with hidden rooms and a hall of mirrors, etc.. Also, the fact that the fairground draw of the set is so unreliable is absolutely a shame. I love the look of it though. The olive green and the brown windows remind me of the Parisian Restaurant.
Totally agree with your comment, but I might get it since I doubt we could have another "real" (not fairground) haunted house from Lego in the near future... Between this set and the huge T-Rex Rampage which would be your pick?
For those confused (as I was) at the Roman numerals at 7:45; it uses a non-standard medieval method of writing large numbers called 'Vinculum', where a line over a numeral multiplies it by 1000. The initial V̅ means 5*1000=5000, so the whole number reads V̅MVII meaning (5*1000)+1000+5+1+1=6007
This set feels like some kind of get rich quick scheme Baron Von baron/Samuel sinister would try pulling after accumulating mounds of debt for all his artifact hunting. It's a shame this is a set themed around him yet they didn't even include a figure of the guy, ride or not.
Thnx for the review!!!!Highly appreciated!!!! you explain everything!!!! I have to confess, that this set for me is LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!!!!! 😍 It brings so many memories....both childhood and adulthood.... I do not want it for its functinality, but I really want to get it mostly for memorabilia.... This and the 3 in 1 pirate ship!!!! Absolutely great kits!!!!!
Thank you for a great review. I like how you comes with both things that are good and not so good when doing this. I will certainly be careful to make sure everything is alligned when building my set when I get it sometime in the future.
My biggest problem is that it isn't a haunted house. It's just a big house with a drop ride in it. It should have had more scary looking ghost house decorations rather than Egyptian artfacts which aren't scary.
After your review I'm feeling a lot better about the 300 Cnd price tag attached to this set. Fantastic seeing pieces are all printed, and the automated doors at the entrance/top of the ride are also a really nice surprise. Ride seems to work better with the motor/battery attached however seems fickle at best. I remember the Ferris wheel having similar hiccups upon release. Doesn't look like a good set to rush through very much like most larger technic sets. Slow and steady will definitely be the way to go. Awesome review, very well detailed, and articulated.
No, the Green shown between the keys in the organ is perfect! Pianos and organs usually have a piece of cloth in many cases green that stops the keys from hitting hard on the wood frame, excelent choice to have it shown there!
Such a unique set to add to theme rides collection. I'm sure it's sold out JUST like the roller coaster! It took nearly two months to get the Diner shipped to me. SO worth the wait tho lol
I just put mine together and discovered a simple fix for the elevator car snagging. Take a file or emory board and sand down the tips of the tan pins which hold the wheels to the car. It doesn't have to be much, ten strokes with an emory board worked for me, but doing that gives enough clearance so the pins don't snag on the interior wall irregularities. Mine is nice and smooth now and its much simpler than taking it apart.
Ironically it's the tight tolerances we normally love Lego for that caused the elevator issues on this set; so I guess you could say that I Lepined a fix. :-D (gotoandlego on Flickr)

This feels like a good looking model to display with lots of good details inside especially the organ
I love this set! I was watching part of the asmr stream last night and it was very interesting! I can see builders fixing the clutch system!
I know the clutch grinding isn't good, but that sound reminds me of coasters on their way up the hill. I like it
5:44 wait wait wait wait wait !!!! Lego did print the old space control panel tile again? OO
You can use it for the free fall. It really comes in to play with the Powered Up Motors and App.
It disengages the tread/track for the cart from the racketing gear system, which makes the cart drop. It basically allows you to drop the cart from any point in the tower
The adventure theme has always been my favorite by far. This set makes me very happy.
I just bought this. I’m very excited to get it in the mail! The build is the fun part so this just got me even more excited. Great video!
The wheelchair accessory is awesome! I’d absolutely be for sets to me more inclusive with things like disability.
Not only sets a good precedent and stance towards those things, but also would create plenty of opportunities for cool and interesting Lego pieces.
Managed to order one of these before they sold out online, and should be getting it tomorrow. Planning to eventually grab a second one, removing the ride parts/references, and turning it into a haunted house.
did you get it? how is it going, any regrets?
Quite impressive for a Lego set! I wasn't sure if it was a haunted house but now I know it's a ride, it would go great next to the rooler coaster! Thanks for the very thorought "visit" of this haunted house, Jang!
I find cool that this set has a direct reference to H.P. Lovecraft with that "Altar of Al-Azhred", the fictional writer of the Necronomicon :D
Thanks for explaining and providing a solution for the elevator getting stuck. I’ve been having that problem too.
I just got mine and followed Jang's advice and left out a chain link. Mechanism works perfectly! Hasn't caught even once.
Starting to build this set today. Great review! Can't wait to get started on this.
I kinda like the cracking sound when the ride is going up, that makes it feel more like an old carnival ride rather than a new lego set 😂
I won one of these last week, it's in transit and should arrive on Monday! Thanks for another great review, JangBricks!!!
I hope LEGO recognizes the fairground mixer as a part of the “fairgrounds collection” that set hit differently
20:33 Alhazred Altar. Wow. I'm sure some of the Lego designers read HP Lovecraft. Also with so many references to him in Hidden Side sets. Neat reference and quick build. I'll have to do one myself.
The Altar of Alhazred is a refrence to Abdul Alhazred, AKA The Mad Arab. He wrote the Necronomicon.
I kind of wish this set was sold as two to three modular pieces so the interior had more posable space. But there are qa couple really nice things that make me appreciate this set:
Oh my! It is so much larger than I expected and probably larger in person! I can't wait to get this. Thanks for the awesome review as always, Jang!
YOO i have literally not thought of junkbot until now!! I played that game SO much! The nostalgia!!!
I have this set on my build table now and heard horrors (pun intended) of the elevator function being finicky. Watching this video does put my mind at ease to open it up and build. Thanks Jang for demonstration the function.
Jang, your reviewing is top notch.... Incredible job on this review. You are the best.
The green between the two rows of keys is actually accurate. It's felt for keeping dust out of the instrument
Those old browser games went crazy. I remember playing Junkbot and the old lego adventure games a lot when I was a very very young boy. Great references all around in this set.
This set looks soo cool!!
I really like the new ghosts, yes the old ones are more nostalgic but it’s nice that they’re trying something new, especially when you consider that all the uses of that over-torso ghost piece were for actual ghosts, whereas these are meant to be just people in costumes 😂
Absolutely agreed
Just bought this set and I love the build so far! So much detail! Absolutely amazing!
Charming set :). Sets like this make me happy!
I just ordered mine cant wait!
This just arrived at my doorstep and I’ll be building it today! I’ll play your review as I build!
Hello Dr. Mc Brick, please let us know if the lift snatches?
the resonator is a reference to From Beyond, the Lovecraft story and movie, at least the name is
Fantastic review!
I love how in the official pictures the green bottle on the ticket counter gives the minifigure a Mr. Hyde look
4:49 reminds me of the case the jewel is in in the set 5988 but this is definitely an updated version
Thnx for the review!!!!Highly appreciated!!!! you explain everything!!!!
I have to confess, that this set for me is LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!!!!! 😍
It brings so many memories....both childhood and adulthood....
Very good review. Fair, balanced & thorough. I can see why you have over 1.2 million subs!
This is the closest thing we’ll get to an official Haunted Mansion or Tower of Terror set. Combining the two into this is brilliant.
Pianos and organs usually have a piece of cloth in many cases green that stops the keys from hitting hard on the wood frame, excelent choice to have it shown there!
i feel like modding this mostly the tower to be a doll house like set would be so fun.
Such a unique set to add to theme rides collection. I'm sure it's sold out JUST like the roller coaster! It took nearly two months to get the Diner shipped to me. SO worth the wait tho lol
What a thorough and excellent review.

Jang, it is fine.
I see a Gnaj Episode "one hour Haunted House up and down" coming up :D
Man, I can’t find this thing anywhere. It’s not at any of my local stores. The LEGO website says it’s out of stock so I guess I’ll just have to wait.
if you want this, you can get yourself on the back order list and it says it will be shipped by the end of this month. That is what I did.
