      The squad, and people like them, at large. If Nina knew what was good for her, she's put as much distance between herself and those ideologues as possible.
      Grievance ideology, intersectionality, is just ethno fascism with a pretty face. It might be wearing the hollow shell of marxism, but it's not categorically a left wing ideology. It's economically agnostic.
      One cannot truly serve two masters. You can be a principled leftist, or you can whine about race and gender, whine about how uniquely oppressed you are because of your identity, and be a massive, authoritarian bigot.
      Fascism is fully compatible with hyper capitalism, and "rainbow capitalism," the result of combining ethno fascism and laissez faire/social darwinist ideology, subverts the left by coopting their language and proceeding to divide them by ethnicity and gender.
      This is done precisely to gut traditional left wing theory, be it moderate Keynesian efforts, or full on socialists, of economic class concern, replacing it with identarian struggle, such that the lower and middle class are too busy punching sideways to join forces against the money and power.
      ...A side bonus is it's allowed them to basically push social darwinist policy on the public, without the stigma of such. It's a moral mask for robber baron ideology.
      They might never be as blatantly right wing as the neo-liberals, but people like Nina and AoC are effectively corporate sleeper agents. They're all a few silicon valley donations away from sabotaging any truly left wing efforts in government. Even if they're wary of corporate influence, there's dozens of race and gender obsessed NGOs that they can use as middlemen, effectively laundering the source of the influence.
      It's just more manufacturing of consent at the end of the day.

      @@HaveYouTriedGuillotines Doesn't sound like Nina to me. Nor the Squad. They're solidly aligned against corporate ownership of government and that's my primary concern. The Green New Deal, Defund the Police and M4A don't seem like identity politics to me.

    • @decolonizeEverywhere
      @decolonizeEverywhere 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And Mama Bear's little cub, AOC.
      I'm pretty darn tired of her mouth service and then she goes ahead and votes like a Republican anyway. Somebody who's an actual real progressive needs to push that squad left. she can say she's on the left because everybody is left of the far right. Everything out of that woman's mouth this week was about how we can't have M4A right now when that's exactly what we can do right now. If Mama Bear wants to get her seat as speaker of the house again, then only one voice has to say out loud, aside from Jimmy door, that we want to vote right now. And it doesn't matter that she thinks it won't win in the house. Because even if it doesn't pass in the house, it will be because Democrats who are supposedly progressives voted against it. And then we can get all of those Democrats who say that they're progressives on record voting against M4A like they will. Just so we know which side of the fence they're really on. But they won't because they're career politicians, not civil servants representing us. So yes we really need Nina Turner to work with Katie Porter who is the only real progressive in that whole squad.

And we shouldn't forget, that there are good politicians outside of the "Squad", that don't get as much media attention. Depending of your definition of the Squad he wouldn't even qualify for that. I personally would advise against making the assumption that only polticians who are considered part of the "Squad" are good ones. Raul Grijalva for example is a great poltician that is very progressive and endorsed by Justice Dems, yet he is not considered part of the "Squad", as is Ro Khanna. Much as I hate to say it, I think that's a losing ticket. Nina is already an outspoken progressive candidate. I LOVE her, but we need to do Something to reassure centrist dems. Nina/AOC is too decisive of a ticket- everyone who strongly supports them would support them equally of it were either one, and AOC is still a bit young. That s without mentioning the dumb identity politics. If you want a powerhouse progressive ticket, Turner/Yang would be interesting. If you want the unity ticket, maybe Turner/Buttigeg. I get why progressives kinda hate Buttigeg, but he had a strong showing, and specifically with the people Nina is least likely to appeal to. He's also great at dismantling Republican talking points, and early on was willing to adopt progressive policy like M4A. He wrote a paper on why Bernie should be president for God's sake. He's a centrist-poster-child we could work with.

I'd really rather you didn't put words in my mouth or try to strawman me, it's really annoying.

    • @grannypantsification
      @grannypantsification 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@mjp121 I think progressives are dead set against your particular choice for the centrist running mate. Buttigeig is despised for myriad reasons, including his attack on the idea of medicare for all, his blatantly racist running of his little town, and his attacks on Bernie Sanders and practically every position progressives have. He is not even someone progressives would settle for, let alone support. He’s a phony and an opportunist with no experience in government except for his failure as a small town mayor. His dishonesty is palpable.
      If you had chosen a centrist like Elizabeth Warren or a Libertarian like Andrew Yang you would probably not have had such a cool reception. But AOC is so popular among progressives that the very idea of that ticket pushes aside any notion of olive branches to the centrist Democrats. Having said that, I would be willing to entertain the idea of practically anyone as VP as long as we could have Nina as POTUS.
      Sadly, the “she’s a socialist” and “where’s her birth certificate” are already cued up on the teleprompters of the media darlings. But we can dream.❤️

      @@grannypantsification Oh I get it. Buttigeg stands for nothing, and was instrumental in tearing Sanders down. The only candidates who made it to SC who I liked less were Klobuchar and Bloomberg. You may note I did suggest Yang, actually. I think you may be wrong about progressives being willing to take Warren over Buttigeg though- she's not a centrist, she's an establishment progressive... and to much of the Bernie left, I think the betrayal feels more real. Buttigeg never impressed me during the primary, but he's been fine since then, and again... I don't think he stands for much- he took damn near every possible position during the primary... but that means he is less likely to buck any POTUS, and the media Does love him. I'm also fond of his recent takedown on Fox regarding late term abortions... as it stands, I find him to be a cookie cutter career politician, but a charismatic one. Distasteful, but *useful*

      I hope there's a 2024 primary. If Biden runs again, it's not worth trying to oust him... but Kamala could be pushed out. The fear, then, is that people consider Turner too radical to beat Trump if he runs again- she's at Least as progressive as Bernie, and also would be the first woman president, and only second black president. It's a tall order to convince centrist Dems that the country isn't racist or sexist enough to disqualify her identity, particularly when she's not also an establishment candidate. Meanwhile, if Biden wins a second term, 2028 will be a tough year for any democratic candidate... Though maybe Nina could get her name out, like Bernie did in 2016.
