What a wonderful work space! I like your idea to do a map of your under storage area, and putting boxes on rolling dollies. What a great way to stack a ton of items but still have them movable! I'm going to steal that idea.

Oh my Sharon this is a dream room!! It truly speaks to my heart and my "need to be organized" brain. I can't even pick out one favorite thing because I love it all...the cabinets, drawers and all the horizontal work spaces made me drool. LOL I also have to say I've been working with two monitors for years and I can no longer imagine working with just one monitor anymore. I too have to clean between projects, and you're right, it only stays that way for a very short time.😊 Thanks so much for sharing, I found it very inspiring!♥♥♥

Fantastic! I’m glad you mentioned the butcher block counters at the end because that was the first thing I noticed about your awesome space- so lovely, but for messy me, I would have to have them covered all the time! You didn’t mention it, but how nice to have quick access to the outdoors; some artful tasks are better done outside. Christmas blessings to you and yours!

Oh wow Sharon. I love your room. It’s immaculate and so organised. So much storage. Love your filming mat idea. Also love your phone holder for filming. I love standing to craft but none of my surfaces are the right height for that sadly. I still find myself standing to work though. 😅. Oh and I so miss my sink. 😢

What I liked the best were the very old piano roll boxes for your washi tape- how gorgeous is that front facing and the perfect size. I love how you've mixed in antiques and beloved items with functionality. Such a peaceful beautiful space you have. I'm happy that you do!! Are your wood block tops actual wood? Are they sold with a protective finish on them or made to order? I have a two level countertop in my craft space and it would be better for crafting if it were one level. Who do you recommend buying the faux wood sticky paper from? I've seen such a variety of prices, from super cheap to lots so I figure the quality is an issue. Do you ever cut on it? Really loved this tour, thank you!! Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much Kimberly! The wood tops came unfinished. I put a protective oil finish on them which I will probably have to repeat a couple times a year. The sticky paper that I attached to the mats were fairly inexpensive rolls I bought on Amazon. I only use them for filming so they don’t get much abuse. I don’t cut on those at all. PS I used to do a lot of sewing too and still want to keep my "good" machine for fabric only. What type of machine did you get for sewing on paper? Thank you.
Hi Michele, thank you so much! I bought a Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 mostly for the variety of decorative stitches. Before this I had a very inexpensive Brother and it worked just fine for paper!🌺

What a wonderful, well thought out space!! I am in the beginning stage of planning my new studio and wonder if you have any words of wisdom on the planning process?
Thanks so much Susie! I guess if I had to give any words of advice it would be to design the space to be as flexible as possible. I am using my space very differently than when I first designed it, but with a mixture of open shelves, drawers and cupboards, I am able to reallocate and use the space as my needs change. The other thing is that you can never have enough horizontal workspace! lol 😊🌷
@@SharonHoerth I was wondering if you wished for more lower drawer space instead of cabinet space. Everything is just beautiful and looks easy to clean and straighten up. It looks like a custom build - was it? Also, do you regret not having windows to look out? They take up a lot of useful space...and I really like the high windows you have.
I have a lot of fabric, so the lower cabinets are really handy for that. If you are not much of a sewer and mostly work with paper, then drawers would definitely be more practical and useful. The room is easy to clean. The cabinets are Formica, so easy to wipe down. It was a custom build. I'm really particular about space, so I designed every inch! lol Regarding the windows, yes that is a really delicate balance between wanting light and the ability to see outside and storage. I don't regret what's there. It's surprising how much the upper windows provide enough to satisfy my need to see sky and trees. Also, there is a door in the room that accesses the outside. I have that open most of the summer and it allows me to easily step outside for a break and to be able to hear the wind and the birds. I would love to see a picture of your space when you have it completed! Best wishes with your project! 💕
What an amazing space! You said you have a sewing machine just for paper sewing…can I ask why? I have a machine that doesn’t work well and was going to let go and then I have another one I got from my mom and was going to use that for fabric and craft/paper sewing, and wondered if there was a specific reason you don’t use one machine for both types of sewing? Thank you ❤️
Thank you so much! It probably isn't necessary to have two machines. It may just be in my head, but I think in the long run the fabric one will work better if I don't use it for paper. There tends to be a lot of paper dust build up over time down in the bobbin area of the one I use for paper. If you don't do a lot of fabric sewing, I think one machine would be fine. ❤️
