I remember Bruce McCall from Car and Driver magazine and his appearances on Letterman. His illustrations and articles were strikingly funny and wildly original.

I watched the interview with Bruce McCall. I quickly understood how his artwork resonated with Dave's sensibilities.
Dave is still smatter and better rounded than any of the new breed. Ive no doubt he could go onto any of their shows and make them better.
It’s not even close. Myers and Kimmel are tolerable. Colbert Fallon and that idiot Brit are all unwatchable
I used to beg Barbara on yt comments to ask him to guest host an episode of Kimmel but I think he would just never do it

I have been a fan of Dave for 30 years or more, saw his late show life in NY, he is an exemplar, as a human, he is kind, generous with his guests and people in general, his humour is intelligent, and his timing and observant prowess is first class.
He is respected by his peers, by presidents, Hollywood A listers, and all who have enjoyed working with him, his appearances here and in other places never gets old, I miss his late show, long may he live and keep being Dave.😊

Dave is, of course, correct. Zany Afternoons is a joy to behold...and beperuse. His writing absolutely reminded me of reading National Lampoon magazine in high school, and having horrible episodes of suppressed laughter (the absolute best, and most painful kind).

I saw the interview a few days ago that you repeated and his artwork hit my funny bone.I suspected he must of passed away as it was a strange interview to replay and a lot of the time when I think that its because you have replayed interviews of people who have recently passed.
Yesterday I wondered if he had any books published and found the one Dave 'co-authored' online and purchased it and it should arrive in the next few days

As Dave said the old National Lampoon published a Sunday newspaper parody which included and advertising supplement for a fictional business called Swillmart. And each tiny part, illustration and copy, was indeed very sharp and funny. I believe you can find each individual "page" of it online.
This channel is due to be LOC archived. Not only are they funny on their own, they will be artifacts of history of TV and that special mix comedy truth and BS.

I still have the keys to the '53 Bulgemobile McCall sold me. The one Melman Motors trumpeted as having "Blastomatic ThunderProof Solar-Powered Windows!" The durn thing would never start. I ended up pushing it into the East River.
I kind of stopped watching late night shows after Dave retired. So I have no clue what's been happening with Dave etc. I just got the shock of my life.... his son is going to college??? LOL. Wait my kids are 12 and 15????
