  • Paiste Sound Technology stands for first-class manufactured cymbals and high quality sound design at an affordable price. PST5 is the entry to Paiste's world of bronze cymbals and since its introduction in 2005, it continues to be a best seller. Considering recent musical trends, the PST5 was newly designed by our Swiss Sound Development Team. Visually the PST5 were consciously altered only in detail but their fundamental sonic value changed considerably. The cymbals are lighter resulting in a deeper, warmer sound while preserving its bright basic character. They have increased flexibility resulting in a more appealing feel. Overall the new PST5 is significantly more musical.

    I don't know why but I really like the sound of PST 5 hats. Every pair I've ever heard sounded just like a hi hat should. Clean, crisp, somewhat cold, yet very satisfying.

    C'mon man! Take away production (EQ, compression, super deluxe mics etc) so we can tell what this stuff sounds like. I have seen scads of videos with Jared Falk playing, teaching and so on and he's a pro. So you have the first thing you need to make drums sound great... but all the other stuff just makes it sound totally different than what it really is. With the right gear and a good engineer, you can make trash cans and Frisbees sound like this. It's not an honest way to sell.

      Honestly, I can hear how bad they sound with all the "production". So many unpleasant frequencies are poking out.

    I would say Mr. Falk is a terrible product demonstrator. In the medium demonstration, the snare drum is so damn overpowering that it's tough to tell what the cymbals sound like. The self indulgent technical display at the start is also way too much. I want to hear the cymbals, not some overblown solo.

    • @demonicsweaters

      Totally, he plays like a 15 year old kid trying to show off in the GC drum room. Terrible.

      I agree but what do you think about pst7 and pst8 line compared to pst5? there is not much diference?

    • @paistefever
      @paistefever 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@javierjakal they all are awesome. PST 7 is a bit lower volume version of 2002. PST 5 is somewhat modeled after 505 series that was popular in the 80s

    Hmm I used to play these before switching to my Zildjian A's. I don't remember having Sound Edge hihats. Must have been a sold separately set. I am getting back to Paiste and got myself a PST7 set

      PST Chinas are definitely unique and interesting beasts, because they represent a sound that's just been left behind by most major cymbal makers/lines. Everybody tends to make quick dry trash-machines these days, but the PST series never wanted nor needed to chase trends, so that more lively, washy china sound survives in this most unlikely of places. Highly encourage anyone to try one out.

    For the money, the pst medium hats are amazing but the SE are even better! I have both bottoms and they’ll be the last cymbals I upgrade! It’ll be a long time before I can afford some 15” 2002 SE hats anyways haha!

      They are pretty good for the money, but if you can save a bit more money then go for the alpha series or the pst 8,much more professional sounding cymbals across the whole range of cymbals.

    Ive been playing out with PST5 20" medium ride and 16" and 14" thin crashes. I also play Sabian AAX crashes and those are my go-to but I like the PST5s and I work them in a lot. Love riding on the 18" crash for that junky ride we all love in certain situations like I Want You To Want Me- Cheap Trick. Just replaced my ride with a 22" 2002, and I also replaced my PST5 hats with 14" Zildjian New Beats but I have to tell you, dollar for dollar, there's no comparison to the PST5s, at that price point, to the big Z and Sabian.

    They sound too good for this price b8 alloy! I got a Zildjian I series crash/ride, it can be washy but not too bad, helps to tape for certain music, but i'd rather the PST7 light ride for a crash ride..then some are looking for more washy cymbals, like the Western Wuhans, which are very thin chinese made metal I believe.. It's hard to go back to all b8 once you get used to that b20 sound, better off mixing it up with even in between alloys..

    • @DrumeoOfficial
      @DrumeoOfficial 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The difference would be the sound/weight. You can find sound samples on the Paiste website. Either sound great, it's just a matter of your personal preference. I have an 18" Swiss Alpha crash and love it.

    • @tmont007
      @tmont007 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's all in the electronics. They need to do these sound demos without all that production. You can't tell what the drums or the cymbals sound like when it's all mic'd up with EQ, compression, etc. You can make cereal boxes and dinner plates sound like that with a good sound engineer. Which they have.
