    I used to compete in the 1983 Yamaha Regionals, took 2nd place in Illinois to Raul Mitra. I lost points on the Improvisation part, since my teacher never taught me how to improvise. Although a Hammond guy, I had to practice as a kid, to learn & program a larger model similar to this organ (but with a tiny 3rd manual on top) at a large dealer who had a whole warehouse of different organs stretching back as far as young eyes can see. Had to write down on paper my registrations presets for the lower pull-out drawer.
    I played Rimsky-Korsakov's 'Flight of the Bumblebee', which probably would've beat Raul's 'Besame Mucho', had I not lost points on the improvisation section, which was a complete flop. They gave us a blind note pattern, and we had to create / perform a song on the spot. But anyway, his performance of Mucho was killer, as he was a Yamaha kid, and had the gorgeous Yamaha String Patch layers under piano, and the 3rd keyboard (it was a bigger Electone model than this E-70)
    I think Raul returned to the Philippines and became a conductor of sorts there, on TV. Meanwhile I moved on to death metal (just kidding).
    But those Organ Dealership days are now long gone, after the dirty money-changing Usurers manipulated interest rates long before the 80s, to drive housing prices through the roof to reduce real incomes & increase wealth gap. People stopped being able to afford these $10,000-$20,000 (?) organs (or pianos). So no more family gatherings singing around the organ or piano, and society got dumber / enslaved to greedy Usurers. That has to stop. We outnumber Them, why not just ship them to an Island somewhere, where they can play Monopoly in a padded cell guarded by Giraffes?
    Just today, I learned, due to The Who's Pete Townshend having used the Arpeggiator feature on Eminence Front and You Better You Better You Bet, I want this organ!!!!!

      "since my teacher never taught me how to improvise. "....
      Possibly the most ironic musical remark ever made.

    We had the next level down, an E-50, back in the day. All Yamahas have always been wonderful instruments!

    4:55 “Chorus” and “Tremolo” are two different speed settings for speaker rotation. If you select them both, then “Tremolo” overrides “Chorus”.

    Does it really also have synthesis capabilities ?
    I don't see any of the controls that correlate to CS series Yamaha etc

    home organs have the most masive bass sound of any keyboard/synth. my personal favourite is the GX-1

      Even better when put through a Leslie or another acoustic performance enhancing speaker box.

    Hi there. My e-70 has stopped working. No sound. Everything is on though. I cannot find the schematics anywhere. Any chance I could get a copy?

    3:40 is where it’s at for “Eminence Front”. ;-) Now, I just have to figure out the pattern so I can duplicate it.

    The bass instantly sounds like the Fanfare for the Common Man, I mean the ELP version, of course.

      Given this is basically a CS-80 that is perhaps understandable. I've ended up here on a wander from the GX-1 World.... Yamaha produce beautifully mature instruments and their R&D in this area was second to none.

    Ah yes lets make a home organ thats basically just 2 fucking CS80s and sell it to people

    • @noddyspuncture
      @noddyspuncture ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's nothing like a CS80... not even one. I just got an E-70... I also have three CS80's, a CS60 and a CS70M. The E-70 does use "some" of the Yamaha custom IC's... like the VCA and filter chips. Also the bulbs in the preser buttons are the same, as are the coloured buttons themselves, but they have different writing on them. That's about it.

    • @audiodood
      @audiodood ปีที่แล้ว

      @@noddyspuncture first of all, hi I’m a big fan lol, anyway they are different and I was 14 when I made that comment but the e70 has 2 full sets of low pass and high pass filters (7 pairs per keyboard rank) so you can get a lot of the same tones out of it with simple mods (it has individual envelope generators too)

    • @noddyspuncture
      @noddyspuncture ปีที่แล้ว

      @@audiodood - to get anywhere close to the CS80 you'd also need to add a ring modulator, a pitch ribbon, individual after touch and some very comprehensive modulation capabilities. Analogue oscillators, instead of digital, would also help... 😁

    • @audiodood
      @audiodood ปีที่แล้ว

      @@noddyspuncture I mean expressional capabilities sure but you can get the same brass and string sounds and stuff

      @@audiodood OK, well as I now have an E-70 as well as my three CS80's, I will compare those strings and brass patches and get back to you with my findings..! 😃
