I have both the Google TV 4K streamer and the Onn Pro 4K streamer, I like that the built-in speaker in the Onn device announces when my Google doorbell is rang, but I like the fact that the Google TV streamer pops it up on my TV and allows me to view the camera as well. I also like that it works with matter and thread devices as well. The Onn 4k pro should get the same version of Android TV the Google streamer has in an update though. I like the Onn device for a bedroom and the Google device for my main TV.
The Onn (sold as the Thomson Streaming Box Plus 270 in Europe) costs ~€100 here, which changes things. Considering the Google Streamer has 4GB RAM, Android TV 14, and the fact it'll receive security updates for 5 years, I'm leaning towards buying that. I could just use my USB hub to connect external storage to the Google Streamer too.
I have 3 on 4k pros. Love them. A better experience than my FS 4k Maxes which now just sit in bags ready for travel when I want to bring my home tv experience with me on a trip
The on 4K has a USB 3 port so if you use a gigabit ethernet adapter you can have decent speeds. Since I have the common adapter I think at the price point I would lean toward the Onn for much less $$.
Great comparison! Keep it up brother! One thing you forgot about Google TV is that it supports Matter and Thread for people who really want this feature.
I bought the ONN 4K Pro last week over the new Google TV Streamer. Don't care about the home hub features of the Google model, and I much prefer having the additional 3.0 port. I added a USB hub to it and used one of the slots for a USB to ethernet adaptor and now I get anywhere from 750 to 870 GB download speeds on my gigabit cable internet. I just got finished setting it up with a custom launcher this evening (Projectivy) along with some other custom apps and it runs fantastic. Very happy with the purchase.
Great video as always, but the Google TV Streamer also comes with Google Assistant built in.... You can ask questions using the mic button. It's a Google hub, and also a Matter hub to control your Google products. If you like that sort of thing...
Good comparison Onn 4k pro is a great value, i still use my 1st gen onn 4k tv box $20 version, pro is really good. I do wish Google added an extra type c port
I read that some people have had audio sync issues with the Google TV Streamer. So I will wait for any updates on this issue before I think about ordering one.
Yes, it's considered a wide known issue now. Regardless of if it gets a fix, I agree with 3M, the performance is too similar in these devices to justify paying double to price for GT Streamer. I purchased 2 of the Onn pro for price of one GT Stream. I'm good!
In addition to the commonly mentioned advantages of the "TV Streamer," several other equally important features can be highlighted: Fast software updates and technical support. As a Google product, the device will regularly receive the latest security patches and system updates. The USB-C port supports USB-C hubs, meaning users can connect multiple devices simultaneously: External drives (SSD/HDD), keyboards and mice, game controllers, USB network cards, audio and video cards, microphones, cameras, multiple displays (monitors), and many more. The Google TV Streamer can be transformed into a fully-fledged gaming console. The ability to connect controllers, such as Xbox or PlayStation, allows gaming on streaming platforms like GeForce Now. USB-C also facilitates using the TV Streamer as a client for cloud computers. Services like Shadow PC or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop enable full operating systems with powerful cloud-based hardware to run.
I am coming from Chromecast 4k and thinking to upgrade to either of this device. Do you know the benchmark readings for the chromecast 4k? Interested to know how far these new devices compare to the 2021 chromecast 4k in terms of benchmarks. TIA
Can the 4 streaming buttons on the Onn 4k Streaming Pro be remapped to the Red/Blue/Green/Yellow buttons on the remote that came with my generic Android TV box? I have a couple of apps that rely on those buttons and wasn't sure if they were restricted in some way.
I have the Onn 4k Pro right now but am considering the Roku Ultra that just come out , does anyone know of a comparison between the 2 ? I am pretty new to using these types of boxes . Thanks !
Roku is basic and easy to use, while Google tv is more polished and intuitive. Also, with Google tv, you can side load 3rd party apps, but not on Roku. Besides that they both have a ton of apps.
I would rather buy the Google TV. despite it being double the price, the build quality is better, looks a lot cleaner, the software is better and it performs better on internet speed. It also has Google Assistant built in. It’s not always about the aesthetic or build quality, but if I’m going to invest on a long term device I’d rather choose one that checks more boxes. Also, the ONN device isn’t bad, but it feels like it’s just catering to the ‘now’ rather than the future, especially with the USB port that feels redundant today, but I know there are some people that would make use of it, especially if they’re planning to install third party software or something. Overall, the Google TV is clean and minimal and has all the features the ONN does minus the USB port (that i personally would never use)
Very nice comparison review! I have the ONN 4K Pro with the newer "Free TV" remote. While watching shows/movies on Disney+, Prime Video, and TH-cam, my older Denon receiver decodes Dolby Digital +, even though this is not mentioned alongside Dolby Atmos on the ONN box. While watching movies with the lowest-tier Hulu, it just decodes the output with Dolby PL II.
Well I got four of the Hazel color Google streamer the day one opened up for pre-order and I received all four of them, three of them in used on three TVs and one for backup going to use it on my 4K projector, I am very happy with the streamer super fast, on both Ethernet and Wi-Fi, No issue and the picture and quality is 100 times better , is like more deep glossy vivid picture and colors than the old Chromecast TV dongles I had ,Love the features and bigger capacity , an is a lot faster processor, with one gig Ethernet, everything is top notch and current. So I prefer Google streamer A+💥🥂🔥🤙👍
I agree with his final comments: The ONN 4K Pro is the better value, unless you really want the Matter and Thread features of the new Google TV Streamer. I started updating all of the TVs in my house that had the dongle Google Chromecast 4K With Google TV by updating just 1 TV in my house to test out the ONN 4K Pro. It passed my testing. Then I started updating 4 other TVs in my house with the ONN 4K Pro. With each of the ONN 4K Pros that I purchased, I got the newer, much improved remote control that is backlit. It's a great remote control, I like it a lot. My ONN 4K Pro does support the other Dolby audio formats such as Classic Dolby Surround Sound and Dolby+ Surround Sound. In fact, when using either my old Google Chromecast 4K With Google TV or my new ONN 4K Pro I can only get Dolby+ Surround Sound. No matter what I have tried to do with each device, I have not been able to get Dolby Atmos sound from either device. I get better results from my Apple TV 4K, which can deliver Dolby Atmos Surround Sound to me. My other comments: I am using the ONN 4k Pro with Fios Gig internet, and I get wifi upload and download speeds between 300mb and 400mb via wifi on 5G with no connectivity problems at all. At half the price of the Google Streamer, the ONN 4K Pro is the better value. Footnote: Depending on which TV I am using, when I say a voice command in Hands Free mode, the device tries to respond by using the TV speakers, even if the TV is off, and I do not get to hear the voice response. Perhaps this can be fixed with the next software update. If Google had been smarter, they would have released both a device much like the ONN 4K Pro and its new Google Streamer that it has just released.
Today was the first day I saw Walmart had the Google TV streamer in stock so I was able to get delivery from store. I have the ONN 4K Pro as well. However, the update for the ONN that was supposed to enable Google Home wasn't working for me. So for me, the Google TV is about smart home integration for me s a google device. The Home panel worked out of the box. Also the Google TV Streamer fixed some glitches I was having with the Onn 4k pro, and devices stuck on Android 12. So I like both devices, and I know the Google TV streamer is more expensive, however, if it means a bit more stable functionality for my setup, I'll pick that one. Since I've only had it a few hours, it 's impossible to do a long term impressions, but first impressions have been positive.

However, if you have some other suggestions, I’ll be happy to do a follow up. Thanks.
The tech spec differences have no practical implication period the Google Assistant and the on 4K Pro is a mediocre implementation but better than nothing period the price difference is enough to justify not buying the Google streaming device.
Google tv streamer 4k is the winner for me extra ram I would rather have 4gb of ram than 3b or ram any day and the build quality is way so much better than onn 4k pro plus I love the feel of google tv streamer 4k remote the on 4k pro feels cheap google tv streamer 4k all the way baby😊😊 😊😊

The Google streamers literally better than an on like the onn it’s like a broke device and it’s like very slow
I knew the onn going to win anyway🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
😂
Yeah right google tv streamer 4k all the way 😂
@@Juzza1985 not really no HDMI cable hundred dollars for the unit plus tax did not come with extra features I win
@@blackice1994 ask yourself this question which brand is better Walmart or google 😂
@@blackice1994 onn 4k pro is crap google streamer 4k all the baby 🙌😂
I would remap the free tv button on onn to one pf those illegal syreaming spps 😂
The tech spec differences have no practical implication period the Google Assistant and the on 4K Pro is a mediocre implementation but better than nothing period the price difference is enough to justify not buying the Google streaming device.
Both these streamers are such bad quality compared to the Apple TV
Apple TV is double the price and you can install IPTV services. That's what these boxes are basically for
❤❤❤❤❤
1 GB vs 100mbps LAN Port...Google TV FTW if hardwiring

wifi 6 will give you all the speed you need, unless you live in a castle, hehe

WE DON'T WANT A DEVICE MEANT TO BE DISPLAYED.
Go go tv that’s what I hear😂
Google tv streamer 4k is the winner for me extra ram I would rather have 4gb of ram than 3b or ram any day and the build quality is way so much better than onn 4k pro plus I love the feel of google tv streamer 4k remote the on 4k pro feels cheap google tv streamer 4k all the way baby😊😊 😊😊
Also google tv streamer 4k has better benchmark scores than onn 4k pro which means better performance google tv streamer 4k pro for the win baby 😊

Apple TV is SOOO much better than both of these streamers. No questions about it.
But the Apple TV does not have side loading which a lot of people want.
You can't get free apps with crapple TV.
@@TheAsifer You absolutely can
@@TheAsifer Apple TV has pretty much every app that Roku and Fire TV has
@@BenDMitchell I have Apple TV and I love it, but it's missing a streaming app I want, which is available on everything but ATV. Can't side load it either

You wasted so much of time in the beginning you could have shows many comparisons
