If you are brand new to Mostly Autumn and not just this song, they’ve been going since 1998. This song is very Pink Floyd-like but their music is very diverse overall. I would describe it as catchy, melodic prog rock. Mix of male and female lead vocals. This can vary between joint as here, female only, male only or alternating within a song. The music can roughly be divided into the Heather and Olivia years after the two female leads. The style changed a bit but both female leads are good in different ways.
@@kevinmcfarlane2752More than a bit I would say. Olivia's voice is next level. Absolutely heavenly and packed with emotion, but also technically very much on the classical side. You can clearly hear what impact that has on Mostly Autumn's music. Not just in the execution, but also in the song writing.
I have just discovered this band through Spotify, they are amazing!!!! I have just lost my Dad who loved guitar solos, and would have enjoyed this track xxx
Just read your post. I am sorry that you lost your Dad recently. My condolences. I hope you've checked out more of their music, plenty of lovely guitar solos to be heard. This song comes from their first album, released in 1998, and I've been a fan ever since. I am particularly fond of the releases when Heather Findlay was still in the band. She left around 2010.
Le morceau le plus génial du monde !! Cette ambiance musicale unique est largement au niveau de Pink Floyd ! Le solo final est un bijou . Bravo les artistes et merci pour cette mélodie !
Crying because I know you like this music too, dear son of mine. I miss you dearly. I know you are here with me, although I can not longer see, hear, smell or feel you. Your choise of flying back to the Light, I understand and I completely forgive you, because there is nothing to forgive. Know I will never stop loving you, and know I will notice your love for me until we will be together again. And this love will grow stronger and stronger. Kjell 08/09/99-05/01/20

There are some people you meet through life, maybe only fleetingly, that nevertheless leave a lasting impression. Liam was one of those people. I liked all the members of that band, but Liam, a founding member, along with Bryan, really stood out. He was younger than me too! Feeling really gutted at the mo. I hope Bryan's ok. It must have been really hard on him. They were such good friends, even before they formed the band. All my love Bryan. I'm sure you'll get through this with help from your family and friends. Many thanks to the both of you for all you've given us.
This song always reminds me of paragliding, through the mountains of the Lake District and Scotland. Though I only ever flew during the daytime, this music immerses me in a dream of flying though these places at night. Bryan really should take up flying .... he'd love it!
Daraku Bryan is very much his own musician with Pink Floyd as a major influence early on. Nothing about Steve Rothery who is brilliant in The Wishing Tree btw.
I discovered this song at the time I was reading Hyperion by Dan Simmons, and I just think its the perfect soundtrack for it, specially the las 4 minutes
Oh my God ..... I had no idea! Shit!!!! I'm living in Brasil these days and lost contact with the band some years ago. Liam was a wonderful guy! My favourite member of the band in fact. Jeeez, that's so sad. Why do the good always die young?
If I had to pick the final, closing track for a "Very Best of Prog Rock", it would be a close call between this and Lunar Sea by Camel. But Mostly Autumn have a discography than can rival any band.
When you are uploading a new HD video, in the 2nd flange called "Advanced configuration", I think that you can select in Video 3D: convert this video into 3D technology. And this can be a good idea for the 21st century. Thanks.

They sound nothing like Pink Floyd. When did Floyd use folk instruments like violin, whistle, flute and Uillean pipes, or use female vocals regularly? The guitarist plays with a similar tone to Dave Gilmour (but much more technically) and they admit to being influenced by Floyd. And that's it. And one review described them as "the new Pink Floyd" - they aren't. They are the first Mostly Autumn.

You can also need to hear Pendragon. First select Breaking the spell
One of the very few guitar solos that remind me in a number of ways of Steve Hackett's guitar solo in Firth of Fifth. A great complement indeed.
same, same I don't regret paying for it

Absolutely magical of progressive which makes me think to certain Genesis songs or Marillion. I've got only 3 LP. Wonderful ❤️🩹

Great song and video and many thx for the lyrics!! Well done!

the solo so so so good!!!
Thanks ..... Bons Sonhos ....!
hard to choose between the gradual crescendo here, and the wondrous explosion of "Half the Mountain"
I must disagree. Not that Half the Mountain isn't good, it's fantastic. But The Night Sky guitar solo is out of this world. Nothing can beat it.

Floyd is one influence among many. The songs overall - from 1998 to present are quite varied.

What Album is this from
For All We Shared (1998). This was their debut album. It is also on a couple of collections I believe.
Wait a minute, this song is a little too weird. Seems to be a live version...
Listen to Mostly Autumn, Carpe Diem. Very mysterious in the beginning.
Mostink Autloyd, or if you prefer Pinktly Floyumn.
So where are Pink Floyd now? Certainly not gigging, just coining it via the V&A
