    My favorite cast preview was the opening of Pirates League. My friend got the black eye, and pulled it off pretty good all day. For a short while, they did a special tour of the horse stables at Fort Wilderness with a wagon ride at the end. I did a couple other ones, but that was my favorite. I always remember trying to use up the last of the free popcorns on the last day. I love these videos because it pulls up so many memories for me too.

    I actually saw someone take out their phone on Blue Streak at CP. They stopped our train on the lift hill and a ride op walked up, took the phone, took a picture of this person, and explained the rules and that they could pick up the phone at the station after the ride was over.

    It was so much fun getting to go on some of the tours and stuff. I signed up of keys for the kingdom and touring Tower of Terror. I think there may be a few other things too. I was a Disney theme park history buff before working at Disney World so learning all the storylines was so much fun.
    During Halloween our managers and coordinators put together a haunted house of sorts in our queue line and hosted a Halloween Party for us after work. At christmas the coupon books were full of fun items. A bunch of my coworkers who didn't play in the parks much gave me some of their coupons so I ended up with like 3 free photopass pictures. The snow white CERAMIC box was super cute too.
    I got to be a dummy for in show exit training twice. Once was on my ride, Kali River Rapids. They had deemed me competent enough not to need the extra training so I got to hang out in one of the rafts with friends so they could practice in show exits with guests.It was after the park had closed for the night. We really enjoyed ourselves hanging out. The other time was at Expedition. I was on the train that got stopped on the part where they are pulling the train up the hill. It was interesting walking the ride area at an attraction I didn't work at
    The bowl a thon was so much fun. Our area's team was made up of all managers and coordinators except for two cps, me and my friend. It was hysterical seeing my managers letting their hair down and being silly. One of my coordinators had a few too many drinks and threw a bowling ball backwards lol

    I worked at Kings Island in Mason, OH during high school. The year that Tomb Raider, a Huss Giant Topspin, was put in I was working preseason and every so often you would hear calls for test rides over the park PA. Same thing for Delirium a Huss Giant Frisbee. At the end of the summer there was the Kindergarten Club party. Anyone that had worked the entire summer, open to close, was invited to a great big party at Festhaus. Food and drink of course, music, and a talent show.
    We also had access to the game prizes. Kings Island has midway games with some giant prizes. A guest has to win them, but employees were able to purchase them for cost plus $10. Some of the giant stuffed bears were over $100. Now that I have a few more years behind me, I really wish I had taken advantage of that perk.

    Universal Orlando use to give all there employees thanksgiving dinner if you worked that day. as well as a turkey to take home for thanks giving. those were always nice. Also when a ride was closing they typically had a night for the employees to ride it one last time before it left. I remember saying goodbye to kong, and getting a key chain for free before it became the mummy

    Glad they test lift hill evac at SilverDollar City. At Universal my son got his leg stuck incorrectly in the seat when the restraint went down at Gringotts at Universal. It was stuck so bad that it was painful, so they had to shut the ride down after they committed the car to the ride, but before it left the station. Pretty bad that the ride operators didn't notice the problem and us saying there was a problem before they committed. But NONE of the ride employees knew how to raise the lap bars in an emergency situation. My son had to sit like that (an the ride was down for 15 minutes) until they could bring in maintenance. Made me worry what would happen in an emergency evac due to fire or something like that.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it helps, at Silver Dollar City the maintanance guys have to be there during an evac as well. With a shut down they generally don't allow the ops to open restraints until others are on scene to supervise and make sure everything is done right. So it may well have been that they had to wait or weren't able to do it without the others being there. Sorry for your son though getting caught like that. That's stinks when it does happen.

It's a hour bike ride from home but my family loves biking, so it's pretty easy to get there. Im a huge disney fan and I've always wanted to go to disney land. When i was little, I thought disney world and land were the same thing but they're not apparently woops! Which is better? i wanna see the MOST disney stuff possible. Have you contacted theme parks to get promoted by them to their guests? Reach out to their marketing departments. Be professional. Assemble a playlist for just their park (all videos where you talk about them extensively) and give them a link to it. Suggest they send it out on their email list of their guests to further promote their park. They might not promote you BUT if they do, you could greatly grow your channel through them. Once you get a contact person at a theme park, ALWAYS send them a link to a new video when you significantly mention their park. Give them the timestamp when their mention is done. Pitch them doing a visit video for them (you visit their park and make a video of that visit) IF they provide transportation, housing, and meals for you and your family. When you hear they have a new ride in development, this is the BEST time to approach them as they really REALLY want to promote the bananas out of that new ride. You can propose making not just a review video of the ride but also interview videos of its designer, builder, operator(s), and the park's CEO and CMO (Chief Marketing Officer). Good luck!

  • @1000FeatheredOwl

    One thing you mentioned was testing ride evacuations. It makes me wonder this question.
    Which rides would break down the most,
    which times of day are you more likely to have a ride go down for repairs,
    and what's the best way to pass the time when a ride breaks down?

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there is no set answer for that. Every ride and ride type is unique. Setting, weather, age, and the individual upkeep of each ride may also play a role. We would have times on the train at Silver Dollar City, for example, where we'd go for weeks with no problems at all. And then sometimes we'd get days with multiple break downs or stoppages for other reasons (guest issues, for example). it's completely unpredictable, as is the length of the downtime many times. so even "what's the best way to pass time" doesn't really have an answer other than, "it depends..."

    • @1000FeatheredOwl
      @1000FeatheredOwl 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your answer, Sir! I would've imagined that some of the rides at Disney would've had a good rap sheet of breakdowns by now, or a way to anticipate when it might go down for repairs next.
      I remember some of the evacuations I've been on took merely a few minutes, or up to twenty minutes or more. We always got Fast Passes in return and we had Park Hopper passes, so we could usually come back that day or the next day and ride. Thanks for taking the time to reply! :)

    • @sandrao4726
      @sandrao4726 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rides can immediately stop for inclement weather. Disney has about a 5 mile radius, so it might not always be visible that a storm is coming to guests in a park. You can usually tell by the closure of all the outdoor rides. Other times, it could be disabled loading. Often times, on rides like the Haunted Mansion with connected buggies, they would have to temporarily stop the ride to allow some one to get on. But for rides like Thunder Mountain, if a train stays in the station too long, it could cause a cascade stop because there's no where else to hold a train if all the trains were on the track. Many rides have behind the scene docking areas for routine maintenance and storage. I also know that Splash Mountain would have to stop operating during Party fireworks that set off around the perimeter. It would cause the smoke alarms to go off because of how close they were. Any time a ride is shut down completely, they have to go through a whole walk through of the ride and power up sequence, and then a couple test runs before opening back up to guests. There are many ride evacs because guests would allow stuff (trash, cameras, hats, and other objects) to fall on the tracks an engage the sensors.
      Rides that have individual cars/trains usually get going back up faster, if the problem is the ride vehicle. They can just take out the one that's causing issues and reopen the ride. Something like HM doesn't have that ability. The best thing to do is take the free fastpass, wait about 20-30 minutes for all the other guests to disburse to the other rides, then hop on your favorite ride when the fastpass line returns to normal. Although if it's early in the day, save it for like 3:30ish when the parade ends and everyone is making a mad dash to the next ride. Easy way to get into the fastpass line and get on fast.

    Constructive critism: I watch a lot of your videos and i noticed it for this one, not sure on the others, that your camera's focus is off. It's focused on the back ground and not you. You are just a bit blurry but your background is crystal clear. At first i thought you just might have a camer of poor quality but seeing how good the background looks, your camera must be good. Just adjust the focus and it'll be great.
